25.01.2022 A visit last week to the National Motor Museum in Reno Nevada (home of the remnants of the Harrah collection) saw the Jerrari. The Jerrari is/was a 1977 Jeep Wagoneer owned by Bill Harrah.with a Ferrari V12 engine transplant. Unable to source the Ferrari donk from the factory, old man Harrah bought the Nevada Ferrari dealership to facilitate supply of the 4.4 litre unit.

24.01.2022 Too much salt in the Amphicar's diet - has led to the need for replacement rear quarter panels. Which leads to painting the bilge....which leads to a transmission & driveshaft(s) rebuild.....which leads to a brake rebuild.....which leads to new axle, wheel & propeller bearings. While we are it, an engine detail, new exhaust and set of 6.40 x 13" Michelin ZX's.... It'll be back in the water for the coming summer.

24.01.2022 The Miss Monochrome Scandinavia competition of 1973 was held in Uusikaupunki Sweden. Victorious in the swimsuit round, the winner SAAB EKA96 is seen posing with the euphoric runners up.

23.01.2022 With ten (10!) Volvos on the combined fleet, it’s fair to say the Göteborg component of Sweden is a little over-represented at Classic Gasoline. To address the imbalance we’ve added some Trollhättan to the fleet and acquired a 1965 SAAB 96. Of course, a three-cylinder two-stroke, and the elusive Sport (or Monte Carlo) model. We’ll collect it from Sweden in June....it gives us the opportunity to drive the Svenske motorvägar to both Göteborg AND Trollhättan, thereby giving it one last chance to pollute the Fjords with two-stroke smoke..... before it travels to its new life in Australia.

23.01.2022 Unhappy with the low levels of power consumed at the workshop - we added a new neon sign.

22.01.2022 One dorsal fin is pretty darn good - two is awesome (and so French)

20.01.2022 Something different (even for us) came into the workshop this week - a 1938 Diamond T truck. Built in Chicago just after prohibition, Wayne fondly remembers this local vehicle delivering soft drink back in its day in Perth. The truck is in pretty good nick, it just needed and some gaskets fabricated, and a bit of fiddling.

20.01.2022 The New Year day conundrum - is whether to rescue the vintage wheel balancer. Sensitive to attracting the distain of others, I ponder the implications...and search for a sign. And there it is - it's alrite.

20.01.2022 One of the less common SAAB's (with a rear-mounted V6)

17.01.2022 Just in! Our "Historic" plate toppers have arrived in stock. (These are required for concessionaly licensed vehicles) Our units are pressed like the actual number plates, and finished in the same reflective paint. Top or bottom mount, in the colour formats pictured. ... To ensure total authenticity - we have ours made by criminals too.(bad bastards.....not wusses) $20 each or $40 a pair

17.01.2022 So we went to the German Car Day in Perth today. It was about as engaging as walking through the casino car park. So as not to acknowledge wasting the morning - Ill pretend it was interesting though, and claim that I saw a Zundapp Janus and NSU TTS. ... Regrettably not true. But nothing speaks German, like a bit of propaganda.

16.01.2022 We love the Snap-on tools...but are traditionally wary of the fiscal haemorrhage associated with their acquisition. Fortunately, we recently had the opportunity to buy all the NOS (stock) from an old Snap-on distributor...sockets, spanners, pullers etc etc. No doubt we'll be selling off anything surplus to requirements (and there is HEAPS) at greatly reduced pricing in coming months.

14.01.2022 Rather than the customary piece of coal - Santa has bought a '64 Panhard 24CT to CG. Fresh off the boat from Paris, It just needs a new engine mount, brake overhaul.....and a bit of mechanical detailing. This car has the big block 850cc air cooled flat twin (M8S Tigre engine) that pumps out 60hp.

14.01.2022 The arrival of a big boat in Fremantle last week - saw a sea container full of NSU Ski-Craft delivered to the workshop. The engines were, as delivered new in 1965....the hulls have evidence of the odd rodent infestation.

14.01.2022 Refreshing to see a German microcar - not descended from the Luftwaffe, this 177cc muscle car was designed by Carl Jurisch in the 50's. The only surviving one of three,....and it was sold out of the Weiner collection (fnar fnar) some years ago.

14.01.2022 After many years of keeping my eyes peeled for a Sun distributor, tester....one has finally presented itself. Being the later 404 model, this gem will spin the distributor to 4000 RPM. Also got a Sun coil/condenser tester too....actually quite a rare bit of kit. No such thing as too much Sun diagnostic gear.

13.01.2022 The voices have returned and this time they are from REAL people. What are you fools up to? would be the most popular question. Wellplenty as it turns out. An ASIO clearance is required for much of it..but Ill give an update on a few of the projects I CAN talk about- that we are currently working on. ... We cant ignore the return of the 1952 Tatraplan T600 for a drivetrain overhaul and engine tidy-up. Most Tatras seem to suffer from years of systematic mechanical butchery .so its slow progress. It's been proved that a Tatra gearbox parts tree doesnt exist, unfortunately, but the car should be together in a week or so.

13.01.2022 With the opportunity to amass some Citroen SM parts - we collected the mother lode yesterday. 2 x Maserati C114/1 engines, 6 x cylinder heads, 8 x Webber carbs etc etc.

10.01.2022 To test drive the new Corvair on the freeway - Chip had to just negotiate one corner.....

08.01.2022 Reklma Citroen DS za UK trite

07.01.2022 The renovation of a Panhard (like many cars), requires parts. But unlike many cars.....for parts you must go to Paris....in person. So in Paris we are....with the parts mother lode. I suspect finding space in the luggage for it all, will necessitate throwing away the spare pare of undies...

06.01.2022 Panhard understood the avant-garde nature of French wives, who were happy to travel in the boot - and not compromise their husband's chances with any good looking young hitchhikers.

06.01.2022 Not satisfied with the amount of Sun diagnostic equipment currently in the workshop (5!), Wayne has bought back two more pieces.....another SS400 engine diagnostic unit and a SAK-427 A/C unit. He's out of control.

06.01.2022 Yugoslavian car day is one of the weaker events on my social calendar. It neednt have been that way.if David Pajik Daka (a Yugoslavian elevator engineer) had got his way back in 1958, and made a commercial success out of the PRVENAC. 3m long, with a turning circle of 3.5m. ... ! 05.01.2022 Earlier this year the Federal Government bought in legislation that incorporated a ban on the importation of products incorporating asbestos - which is imminently sensible. A zero tolerance aspect has been incorporatedwhich is sort of sensible. How this has now been interpreted is that privately imported cars found with any traces of asbestos, will not be released until the offending items are removed. So recently, we had to attend the customs quarantine to remove front... & rear brake linings, the head gasket, and some body insulation from a 1953 F89 DKW. Following that, the front & rear brake pads and exhaust manifold gasket from a Fiat 2300 Coupe. Cant wait till they nominate clutch plates. Keep this in mind when next importing a loved one. If they find asbestos.no car for you!

05.01.2022 The 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible is being bought back to life after hibernating for 33 years. Subsequent to a fair bit of mechanical work, the Right-hand drive car now drives OK, but while final mechanical tweaking is being undertaken Adrian (the man of steel) patiently replaces all the steel cruelly stolen via Mr Rust.

05.01.2022 A new friend arrived at the workshop recently in the form of a Sun (infrared!) engine analyser. While a thing of beautythe insensitive sideways glances by some.indicate a reluctance for an instant bonding. Hard to believe, but I have (myself) experienced this form of cold shoulder in the past. I suspect that when areas of functionality offered by the U-819 Ignition module are explored we will be one big happy family again.... Or not. (I dont care Ive got a Sun analyser!)

05.01.2022 The Amphicar has received a full transmission rebuild (expensive little devil), and a engine detailing. But no assembly fun until the "tar" lining the interior is laboriously scraped & removed so the bilge can be media blasted and painted. Worst job - ever.

05.01.2022 At a undisclosed location, in outer Paris, a Heli-jet (whose upper & lower fuselage was constructed out of car turrets) hangs on the wall. With photos interdit (verboten)...this was all I could take. Around twenty rare racers, Paris show cars, and specials - take up the ground space.

04.01.2022 Five years before the magazine - there was the car. It took its top off too.....it appears

04.01.2022 Driving the Classic Gasoline 1965 SAAB 96 Sport - over the Øresund bridge from Sweden to Denmark.

03.01.2022 The Patron Beverage Co. will have Vance (the Citroen H van) dispensing coffee at the Next Classic Car's & Coffee at the UWA this Sunday. Wayne & I can be seen desperately trying to access the coffee at the last Classic car event - only to find it being sensibly dispensed at the side hatch at the rear of the van.

03.01.2022 Panhard made history when they ran with an all-female pit Crew for the 1961 Le Mans. Unfortunately, their record run of 23 successive class wins, came to an abrupt end when the Panhard failed to leave the pits within the 24-hour period.

03.01.2022 Decent engine (and where it should be) - and it's not a Tatra.

03.01.2022 Combing sex & fire like only the Czechs can do - this 1941 Horch 853 Sport Cabriolet was used in 1945 by a firefighting team in Brno, Czechoslovakia.

02.01.2022 Trollhattan Sweden - today. The International three day event for SAAB freaks is underway. The car show has 800+ cars on display.
