22.01.2022 CLASSIC PADDLE OVERVIEW With the 2018 Sun Smart Classic Paddle over, Paddle WA would like to give a big thank you to all the competitors and volunteers for help...ing make this race a success. Thank you also to our timer Beck Florisson and her amazing assistant and hooter girl - Scarlett Florisson. The spotters and registration helpers were Kate Vyvyan, Isabella Choate, Terry Bolland, Ian Quinn, Rob Rigger and Steve Egger. Terry Bolland unfortunately could not paddle this year’s event however it was good to see him chatting to all the competitors at registration. Thank you to the ADSU water safety crew Alex Aberle-Leeming and his team without your presence and support this race could not go ahead without you. To Ray Smith, Christopher Greed, Jeannette Busch The Coffee Lady (who also gave a prize away on the day), Jose Costa for his display and all the other helpers behind the scenes and not to mention the EO of paddle WA Rosalie Evans, once again a brilliant effort. Thank you to the sponsors Royal Life Saving Society WA who kindly donated $300 for the winners (male and female) of the Dash for Cash, John Wilkie won the males and for the ladies was won by Shania Smee. It was nice to see a strong turnout of 82 crafts inclusive of SUP ‘s and Outriggers and approximately 140 participants that made up the field of K1’s; K2’s; K3 and skis. With seven (7) teams of Outriggers of which six (6) battled it out in the mixed division and all had a strong finish, it was good to see so many outriggers and sups in this year’s event. The Outrigger men’s team Wavies were competing without any other all male teams to beat, however they came home strong with the first placing and then the mixed outrigger team West Coast Outriggers were not far behind coming in with a time of 1.13 who were the winners of the mixed crews. The beautiful conditions with the sun shining and favourable wind conditions made it a pleasant race with all competitors finishing with no incidents. The feedback from several competitors was very positive, thank you for the many emails received. Finally, without the support from our sponsors Sun Smart and Royal Life Saving Society WA this event would not be possible so again a big, big thank you. In summary well done to all the competitors you are all winners and from the Paddle WA team, thank you and we do hope you had an enjoyable race, see you again next Find the full race results HERE Thank you. https://www.webscorer.com/race?raceid=155150
