23.01.2022 Studying St. Theresa of Avila's "Interior Castle" with Swami Alokananda, we find, in the 6th 'dwelling place', an understanding of Karma Yoga that is in perfect accord with, and even perhaps transcends the exposition in the Gita in terms of its practicality to us, as aspiring Yogis. This is because this understanding is expressed from the viewpoint of the aspirant who has actually experienced it. 05.01.2022 When you enter a church, a chapel or a temple, you can immediately feel a peace, a sense of easy quiet and focused love. You feel the opposite when you enter a place of constant confrontation. Wherever an action is consistently repeated over time, be that action physical, mental or emotional, its unique energy accumulates and permeates the surroundings. When we regularly repeat a personal mantra, the vibrations permeate Body, Mind and Spirit. The energy that we create affects... our entire being. This repetition is called Japa. Japa is not a soporific, not simply a way to relax or some kind of Yogic Self-hypnotism. It is a powerful tool, which is able to free our mind from its limited perception of reality. Thus it is imperative that you not only have one that truly works for you, but also that you receive it from one, a Guru, who resonates with you and can properly guide you in its use. 04.01.2022 Swami Alokananda assisted as a Senior Minister during the Easter Passion Service at Infant Jesus Church Morley over the weekend. The practice of service means that we intentionally seek to invest our lives towards other people - giving of our time, energy and our talents. We have been trained by our 21st century world to be spectators and consumers. But the abundant life can only be experienced when we are players in the game, and were giving of ourselves unconditionally in service.
