25.01.2022 Nice to get a "Rasta" to new Vanuatu Cricket skipper Nalin Nipiko while playing in Melbourne and Paama Sharks Cricket Club champ Michael Avok who is in South Australia. Hit em well boys! #classic
25.01.2022 Trying times at the moment for all, missing cricket training, missing the social interaction that sport usually provides for so many of us. It will return! Usually I've been to Vanuatu, caught up with friends and been able to personally deliver bats and gear. It's been tough not being able to do that but we have to find a way. As participation in the sport we love continues to grow, we need your help.... If you have a bat that you no longer use, even a broken one that can be repaired, donate it if possible and bring a big smile to someone's face. We'll get them there and trust me, it will make a huge difference. Sharing a few pics here of some donated bats that have already made a difference! #Classic #Vanuatu See more
23.01.2022 Talk about getting into the Christmas spirit! My good friends at YoungGun Cricket and Cricket World Moorabbin have set up a giving tree at their world class centre with cricketers donating gear to Vanuatu Cricket . I didn't ask them to do this, pardon the pun, they did it off their own bat. Plenty of generous people in the cricket family. Tangkyu tumas on behalf of Vanuatu Cricket, hoping everyone has a safe and Happy Christmas and New year. ...
23.01.2022 Things have picked up since the news of indoor nets starting from June 22 was released. Earth getting back on its axis in time for cricket season? Lets hope so #classic
21.01.2022 This catch is getting some love across the world right now and its not surprising. The talent is amazing and this sort of stuff from Philip Hl Tsione is top shelf! Vanuatu Cricket offers highlights on a regular basis so jump on board, you wont regret it.
20.01.2022 Very rare for an international cricketer to roll in to Classic Bat Repairs so apologies for the name drop. England and Melbourne Renegades star, Danielle Wyatt, needed a quick repair and clean up on her favourite early last week. In and out in 24 hours and was nice to see her whack an unbeaten 74 off 51 balls in Perth against the Scorchers #classic
20.01.2022 In September 2016, we stumbled across a cricket net in Mele field, Vanuatu. At that time, I really had no idea how popular cricket was in the country. The first man I met that day was Killion Mansale as I noticed him walking towards the net with a roll of synethic on his shoulder, in preparation for the local Womens teams training session. Being a cricket badger, I asked if we could join in and so began my relationship with Vanuatu Cricket. So many friendships have be...en made since. This man has never asked for anything from me but I wanted to get him a bat. This past July when I went over with my family, I had a bat ready to go for him, only to find out he was in Australia working. As the teams were heading off to Samoa for the Pacific Games, he thought it best that I give the bat to them and I quote "my countrymen need it more than me". Thats just the sort of guy he is. He is still in Australia working and thanks to another donation, I was able to send him another bat that he received today. Enjoy my frendo and brata. Lukim yu #classic See more
19.01.2022 Perks of the job! Every now and again I get to work on something really unique. I havent seen one of these for over 20 years, then this one came to me, needing a re handle. The owner carefully removed the top stickers and luckily enough, could re apply them (which is very rare). Im pretty happy with how it turned out #classic
18.01.2022 Please support the Vanuatu Cricket womens team if you possibly can. So much talent on show. Anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated
18.01.2022 Grafting time again! When the broken piece goes missing, its the only option #classic
18.01.2022 These photos tell the story! So happy to see these guys compete and bring home medals! #classic
18.01.2022 Too much toe damage to repair? Time for a new stick? Nah! Plenty of life left in these after removing the damaged area and grafting with some fine English willow. ... #classic
17.01.2022 The bat regulations ( 67mm spine and 41mm edge) had rendered this $1000 bat useless. Until now! Re shaped and a weight reduction have meant this fine piece of willow can now be used at any level of cricket #classic
17.01.2022 Always a pleasure to head to Vanuatu! Got to catch up with these guys and girls before they headed off to represent their country at the Pacific Games in Samoa. Always full of smiles and so welcoming towards me and my family. Repaired and refurbished bats and gear taken over and more brought back to repair for next time. The girls have had such a great tournament with a young group. Some very narrow losses to more experienced teams have meant that theyll be playing off for the bronze medal tomorrow. Only upwards for this talented group. The boys have finished the tournament strong and will be playing off for the gold medal tomorrow. Would like to wish both teams the best of luck! Go Vanuatu #classic
16.01.2022 Pre season training has already started for many and others will be into it in the coming weeks in preparation for season 2019/20. If your bat is in need of some TLC, get in touch and well make sure youre smoking them in the nets! #classic
16.01.2022 Some pretty significant damage to this one, grafting from a suitable donor the only option #classic
14.01.2022 Just about impossible to match grains perfectly when doing a graft but pretty happy with the colour match on this one #classic
14.01.2022 I just had to share these photos with you all to show how the donations of many wonderful people can make a huge impact. #classic bats all over Vanuatu from young children, Womens and Mens cricket. For those who have donated bats, I just thought youd like to see where your generosity is going. #classic
14.01.2022 Not too much joy in the world right now so thought Id post something that will definitely make me feel better and hopefully brings a smile to others faces. A few weeks back, it was fantastic to have the Vanuatu Cricket mens squad in Melbourne. Was great to catch up with the boys, deliver them some Rastas, spikes, helmets etc that were all donated. Knocked up a few "opening bats" too for the VCA and major sponsor Holiday Inn Vanuatu. The squad also made the effort to d...rive a long way to my club Mentone Cricket Club to watch our boys in the semi final. Our guys enjoyed seeing the squad, especially Clement Tommy who played for us last season. I was blown away to have the guys at my club and was extremely emotional when I was presented with a personalised playing shirt. I got to see the boys play and spend some quality time with them, something Ill never forget. A huge Tangku tumas to Shane Deitz and Simon Keen for making it happen and to all the very kind cricket family who continue to donate to make such a massive difference. #classic #Rasta See more
13.01.2022 Got a bloody ugly bat? Sick of getting sledged when you walk to the crease with one of these? Might be a beauty that still comes off well but looks like the Keith Richards equivalent of a cricket bat. Book her in for a clean up and prolong the life of your favourite. Feel free to tag a mate whos rolling out with something like this #classic
12.01.2022 Craving live cricket? Give Vanuatu Cricket a follow and tune in tomorrow from 10am to watch them strut their stuff. Might see the odd #Rasta out there too
12.01.2022 Everyone who has ever had to put a grip on a bat has had to struggle with rolling the grip onto a cone. They rarely go exactly where you want them so you have to take it off and start again. Some grips are tougher than others and can be a real nightmare. The "Classic Vac" solves all these issues! Get it where you want it, first time, every time with ease! ... Like more than one grip? No problem at all. Get in touch if youre done with palm burn from rolling on grips #classic See more
11.01.2022 Vanuatu Cricket family, get around this new business in the heart of Port Vila. I can vouch for the quality of his work as he spent 6 months with me in Australia learning the craft. He bought the tools required to do most repairs so dont hesitate in making contact to get your bat repaired! ... #vanuatuclassic
11.01.2022 Well, it looks like cricket is back! I had these 5 posted to me from NSW, all in need of new handles and a bit of love. There are many cricketers around who aren't fans of a re handle. The main reason I hear is that the new handle is never the same as the original. I always ask the owner if they like the handle or if they'd prefer something different as a bat has to feel right in the hands. Batting is tough enough as it is! So when you come in, I can shape your new handle... to what suits you best. In this case, the owner liked one particular handle so I made them all the same for him. Some absolute crackers in this lot and plenty more runs left in them #classic See more
11.01.2022 Most cricketers have had one of these. The old trusty that may look like a dogs breakfast but still "pings". The one you go back to if you arent hitting em well. She doesnt have to be firewood, get her in for some tlc #classic
11.01.2022 A different one for me but enjoy a challenge! This Powerspot was sitting in a garage for years and something got hungry! Cut out the affected area, put in a new handle and shaped it down to a size 4 for the son of the owner to prolong the life of this 30 year old weapon. Wouldnt think thered be too many 12 year olds walking out with a piece of willow quite like this #classic
11.01.2022 In the second last round of the 19/20 season, this happened to the opposition opening bat. The standard "I know a bloke who can fix that" comment echoed around Jack Grut Reserve. He finally got around to bringing her in and she'll be ready to roll for 20/21 #classic
09.01.2022 One of my favourite parts of this job is getting to transform bats like this. Its done some hard yards but is back and ready to peel off some more runs #classic
07.01.2022 It's been a tough time for all but hopefully we'll get the chance to get some cricket in before Christmas. A few bats are starting to roll in like this one that was in some pretty ordinary nick. Once we get the green light, this one will be ready to roll #classic
06.01.2022 After sending 5 up to NSW last week, these 4 were sent back to SA early this week. Classics doing what no one can do, making their way around the country #classic
06.01.2022 Nice to get some bats over to Adelaide for these Vanuatu Cricket superstars. All the best of luck to the girls and the rest of the Southern District Stingrays as they go into the grand final on Sunday! #classic
06.01.2022 Haven't done a "before and after" for a while but thought this one was worth it. A reasonably weathered stick with a broken handle, delaminated face and the inside edge hanging on by a thread. All ready to go once we are given the all clear to hit the nets again! While on that, Classic Bat Repairs will continue on through this so please get in touch if you need your favourite ready when the whips start cracking! ... Keep well, do what you're supposed to do and cricket season will be upon us before we know it. #classic
05.01.2022 After years of experience coaching junior cricket and footy, a good mate has landed his first Senior coaching gig at his beloved cricket club. Brewed up some fielding and technique bats to get him started #classic
05.01.2022 Crazy times at the moment and while things have slowed down, well be keeping the doors open for all your bat repair needs. Running with an "appointment only" set up at the moment until things change. Hope youre all keeping safe and well #classic
04.01.2022 Its been two years since I discussed with the Vanuatu players what theyd like as a name for their own bat stickers. They were keen on the "Rasta" and I finally picked them up today. Really looking forward to getting them on some bats and sending them over as soon as possible #classic #rasta
04.01.2022 Plenty of uncertainty surrounding starting dates of our cricket season but its great to see the "Classic Vac" getting a workout in preparation for the Vanuatu Cricket Independence Cup tomorrow. Hopefully the weather is better than last week! Gudluk olfala! #classic
04.01.2022 Finals are just around the corner and there will be plenty of bats out there over the coming weeks that look like this. Most are too worried that they wont get their favourite back in time if they send her in to get fixed. Couldnt be further from the truth! Get her in early in the week and theres a fair chance youll be using it on Thursday afternoon in the nets. #classic
03.01.2022 Heres the Vanuatu Cricket mens squad in Papua New Guinea during their first official T20I qualifiers. All the boys holding either a new bat or a repaired one. It was a big job getting the bats ready for the boys but the tough part was getting the bats to them in Brisbane before they flew out. 25 bats from memory and postage would have been enormous! Enter Phil Smith from Cricket Australia who came to the party, organising for the bats to go with a CA employee who was hea...ding to Brisbane that week. A huge Tangkyu tumas Phil and all involved and Im sure the squad feel the same way. #onebigcricketfamily #classic
03.01.2022 A huge gudluk to these guys and girls as they prepare to head off for the Pacific Games in Samoa. Theyll give it all theyve got and will do it with smiles on their faces #coolestteamintheworld #classic
03.01.2022 Like many young blokes around the country, I dreamt of one day making a century in the Boxing day test. Many hurdles during my career have prevented me from achieving this, the main one being the pure lack of talent. Doing bat repairs, I always get satisfaction from guys doing well with a bat Ive worked on. To sit back and watch this bloke bring up 3 figures with a bat I had in my hands 3 days prior is as satisfying as it gets in my job. At 47, theres a fair chance my initial dream wont come true but if this is as close as Ill get, Ill take it #classic GM Cricket Australia
02.01.2022 Having a bat youve previously repaired roll back through the doors isnt ideal. However, when the original repair from 4 years ago is still intact, thats a good thing. This was one of the first bats I repaired after getting my first stickers made up. Stickers have changed and plenty has happened in that time but we still offer the best quality and service going around #classic
01.01.2022 Plenty of uncertainty surrounding starting dates of our cricket season but it's great to see the "Classic Vac" getting a workout in preparation for the Vanuatu Cricket Independence Cup tomorrow. Hopefully the weather is better than last week! Gudluk olfala! #classic
01.01.2022 Its quite common these days for players to use a different bat at training to the one they use in games. Several reasons for this - keeping their number one in good nick would be the main one. Most bats tend to break at training rather than games.... So it makes perfect sense that the one you train with should be as close to the weight, pick up and shape as your game bat. The bat on the left is the game bat and the owner brought in the other one to get shaped similar for the nets, keeping his favourite for the real stuff! #classic
01.01.2022 If you have the time, check out this video and, if you can help out in any way, it would be much appreciated. Would love to see these girls get the opportunity to show their skills at the Pacific Games.
