25.01.2022 What’s Happening with QR & COVID? As a major and continuous supplier of outdoor events QR has had to review its calendar of events and find a strategy that will let you, our customers, continue to enjoy our events and venues within the constraints the authorities bring down in their battle to get COVID under control and keep us healthy. We are hoping that the authorities will continue to recognise that outdoor events on large venues like ours with ample opportunity to maintai...n the recommended social distancing does not pose the same risk as a dance party in a church hall. However, it is possible they will have to resort to a full lock down of all public gatherings in the near future. Public gatherings will be high on their priority scale for some time yet, and it is reasonable to assume there will be one rule for all types of events in the next month. To minimise your inconvenience we will try to maintain an accurate 4 week rolling window of events we expect to deliver through our calendar. Events outside that window should be treated as tentative and a late postponement can still occur due to new regulations coming out in that four week period. In other cases, the regular patrons will advise that they do not want us to run the event. In either case there will be little notice that we can give. When you need to know if a particular event is being postponed your most convenient and up-to-date source of information will be either the QR Calendar (calendar.qldraceways.com.au) or the RACERS calendar (racers.world/calendar). Obviously we are in the hands of the authorities but if possible we will not cancel events - only postpone them or modify the delivery mechanisms to fit within the rules. An example of this could be to provide the full menu of races for a two day meeting but only run half the categories on each day so that we can keep the number of participants under the limit that has been set for these events. The situation is very fluid but there are a number of club championships relying on QR providing events for them, so it is our intention to only postpone events NOT to cancel them if at all possible. If you have already paid to enter either a QR or TrackAction event and you wish to cancel your entry you will receive a full refund less the cost of any commissions paid; otherwise we will just move your credit to the new date for the event. In the event we do have to cancel events you will automatically receive a full refund for your entry. 22.01.2022 To all our Queensland Raceways customers & the motorsport community, we would like to take this opportunity to touch base & update you all on our current situat...ion as we progress through the morass of the COVID-19 restrictions together. Firstly, thank you, everybody, for your patience & understanding during this difficult time. Whilst we cannot bring you major events at the moment, we have been busy planning multiple recovery strategies as the restrictions are lifted. Our aim is to get you back on track swiftly & safely immediately the restrictions are changed. There will be some very limited, i.e. one-at-a-time activities commencing from the middle of next week. We are expecting 10-at-a-time activities to commence a little later in May. As motorsport enthusiasts, we live & breathe everything that comes with the name and we understand the impact it can have on our mental health & social lives when we are restricted from it. It can be hard to remember that the restrictions are in place for the right reasons and we need to respect them. We must continue to support all social distancing regulations that have undoubtedly saved many lives already. Look for some specific programs being announced in the next three days after we have discussed the stages and changes with some of our regular customers. 16.01.2022 LAKESIDE PARK MID PROPOSAL Queensland Raceways are preparing a master plan at the Lakeside facility, and have requested that the Minister for State Development..., Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning identify Lakeside Park as a ‘Ministerial Infrastructure Designation’ (MID) under the Planning Act 2016. The designation will: recognise Lakeside Park as an educational and sporting facility and allow for its many uses; allow for a master plan to be prepared and approved that consolidates existing facilities and plans for improvements; and resolves a way to better regulate noise from the motorsport activity. The master plan proposes to allow for: the existing track (including motor racing, and other recreational track activities including cycling and Paralympic cycling training); the existing conference facility; the existing garage for motor vehicle storage and existing caretaker facility; the existing secondary track that accommodates driving training activities (amongst other things) as well as a supporting classroom building; a proposed quad bike / 4WD training and safety area; nature based non-motorised activities such as mountain bike trails; and a proposed caravan and camping area to support the uses on site (limited to people participating in or attending a lakeside facility event). If you are interested in our MID and preliminary masterplan and would like to meet with a member of our team, please contact us on (07) 5461 9100. Alternatively, you can submit an enquiry via email to [email protected]. This early consultation period will be open for your comments from 13/02/2020 28/02/2020. 13.01.2022 RACERS Licence expiry date extensions: RACERS has been waiting to see how the COVID-19 situation played out before announcing how it will extend the expiry date...s on your RACERS licence. We considered a flat 90 day extension but decided that was not the fairest way to do it. Different people have been affected in different ways, including financially, so we developed a more flexible and appropriate system for deferring the expiry dates for you. Since March 23rd, every night the RACERS licence Management System has been adding one day to the expiry date of your licence and it will continue to do so until the next time you use it at a RACERS sanctioned event. In other words, we stopped the clock on your licence; if it had 180 days to run on March 23rd it will still have 180 days to run the next time you use it. The clock will NOT start counting down again until either 1st January 2021 or from the date you next use it. If you have any questions or queries please contact RACERS on 1800722377. 02.01.2022 COVID-19 Recovery Announcement - Stage 2: QR is now allowed to accommodate 10 customers at a time. To look after as many customers as possible, each day will be... split into multiple two hour Blocks commencing from 0800 and running up to 22:00. The two hour Blocks are available to individuals, categories and organisations. Blocks can be used for multiple activities like Test & Tune, Moto Ride sessions, Sprints, Drifting, Roll Racing and new products like OSSS (Off Street Speed Sessions) etc. Old favourites like Off Street Drags and Happy Laps will return when the restriction of 10 is raised to an economic level. Blocks are available on weekends and a limited number of weekdays at both tracks. Weekend blocks cost $1800 for a private group of 10 or $180 per individual customer; weekdays are $1200 and $120 respectively. Why the two hour limit? The limit of two hours is a compromise to minimise the likelihood of COVID-19 transmission whilst giving you sufficient time to do something worthwhile. In addition to requiring Social Distancing being observed at all times; QR will be separating the vehicles by blanking off every second carport to help with the Social Distancing. It is strongly reccomended that you have the COVIDSafe app operational on your phone whilst on the premises. This is a fair requirement as you’re in the proximity of people at the venue for much more than the 15 minutes that is currently considered an acceptable risk exposure period. Our aim is to make the tracks available as often as possible to as many as possible BUT with the best protection for you and the people you live and work with. How does the two hour limit work? You email the office ([email protected]) with what you want to do and approximately when. You also tell us if you’re looking for a group Block or you’re on your own. QR then organises the Blocks to supply what you and/or your group asks for and checks that the dates work for you - seeemple ‘eh? As an example, a day might start with a Block of T&T for the QRS&S then have an open T&T Block for individuals. Starting at 12:00, 2 Blocks of Sprints, one open and one for a club, then Blocks for Drifters, OSSS and finally a Block of Roll Racing. Hopefully it will not be very much longer before we can put more people on the track at one time and start organising race meetings again. Classic Bike Ride Days, ride days for bikes Pre-January 1991. These days are held on our Lakeside Park circuit in Kurwongbah on the north side of Brisbane. These days are not about racing or even necessarily going fast, they are all about getting the old bikes out of the shed/garage and riding them. But in saying that race bikes are more than welcome! No rego required but all bikes will be scrutineered. We aim to be on track from 9:00am and we run through to about 12:30pm. Costs - $120 p/rider Licences - We use RACERS for our sanctioning and they provide licences for either $20 per event or $75 for an annual licence. These can be organised on the day or online prior to the event. Required Apparel - Leathers are required, they can be 2 pieces but need to zip together. Gloves Boots Helmet.
