25.01.2022 CCleaner recent security breach! Software vulnerabilities have been around since computers, however in recent times they are becoming an every day occurrence that is publicly more known and understood. For most people & businesses this will not concern you until it happens. However if you are reading this, I cannot urge you strongly enough to keep your systems up to date and patched. ... Most think that software updates occur automatically. Unfortunately this is not always the case. ALL software is vulnerable and it is important to keep it ALL up to date. We offer ongoing software security patch management and monitoring at negligible prices. If you rely on your systems and value your data, please contact us. 24.01.2022 Unencrypted Healthcare Data. Its my data, give it back! So many Australians have been rushing to opt-out of their governments new centralized health record system that the site has crashed! Originally it was designed as an opt-in database, but there just wasnt a lot of activity with the program. After the government spent more than AU $4 billion on this database, a flop of that magnitude was not an option, so it became a mandatory opt-out program. Those who have been call...ing in rather than taking to the wehb to opt-out of the system face employees with a lack of training, long wait times, and general mayhem. Many people cite privacy concerns as their reason for opting out, which is a fair assessment. This lack of trust could be because despite assurances by government officials that no data will be shared with third parties, a partner app called HealthEngine has been caught red-handed breaking those promises. More info here about the HealthEngine breach. https://www.healthcareit.com.au//healthengine-saga-continu See more

10.01.2022 Spectre & Meltdown In early 2018 the PC industry was rocked by the revelation that common processor design features, widely used to increase the performance of modern PCs, could be abused to create critical security vulnerabilities. The industry quickly responded, and is responding, to these Meltdown and Spectre threats by updating operating systems, motherboard BIOSes and CPU firmware. Protection from these two significant vulnerabilities requires updates to every system's h...ardware-its BIOS which reloads updated processor firmware-and its operating system-to use the new processor features. To further complicate matters, newer processors contain features to minimize the performance impact of these important security improvements. But older processors, lacking these newer features, will be significantly burdened and system performance will suffer under some workloads. See more
