23.01.2022 Safe to say our inaugural Air Safari adventure was a flying success! Who wants to join us for the next one!?

23.01.2022 If you’re looking for a good read pick up a copy of the newly published ‘Healing Lives’ by Sue Williams. It tells the moving tale of Australian Doctor Catherine Hamlin and Mamitu Gashe, an Ethiopian peasant girl called who came to her for help, became her protégé, and then went on to become one of the world’s leading surgeons. Together Catherine and Mamitu saved the lives of over 60,000 of the poorest women on Earth. The book is available on Booktopia or at the Hamlin Foundation shop (see https://store.hamlin.org.au/collections/books-alpha-asc). Enjoy!

22.01.2022 We are bursting with excitement to announce the launch of our very own brand new Australian flying safari - THE CLASSIC OUTBACK PUBCRAWL! This air safari covers 4000kms in 5 days taking in the Darling River, Birdsville, Lake Eyre, Flinders Ranges, Simpson Desert, William Creek and no less than 8 Outback pubs en route. Forget security lines and baggage carousels and instead think epic remoteness, quirky one horse towns and virtually no people, all experienced by small, private aircraft flying at low level over amazing landscapes to rival anything in Africa. You won’t find this itinerary anywhere else and space is strictly limited so please don't delay if you’d like a seat. More details here: https://bit.ly/39yUNZv or call us on 02 9327 0666.

22.01.2022 Nothing captures the spirit of Australia like a single pub in a one horse town. When the mercury rises and the red dust shimmers, what could be more welcome than a shady verandah and beer taps running icy cold? Historically these far flung outposts were a lifeline for weary travellers and isolated locals alike, united in tales of hardship. More than just a watering hole, they became a lifeline and the humble Aussie pub still embodies the frontier spirit of resilience, mateship and the lure of the open road. Join us for our Classic Outback Aussie Pub Crawl by air - 8 Outback pubs, 4000 kms, 5 Days - departing October 2020 and only available through The Classic Safari Company. Details here https://bit.ly/39R3wpT or as always just drop us a line. Private tailormade departures also available for groups of mates

13.01.2022 This week is National NAIDOC week, celebrating the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. First Nations people have occupied and honoured this incredible land for over 65,000 years. What better way to understand it than through time old tales and ancient wisdom? . : Lords Safaris | #NAIDOC2020

13.01.2022 Anyone looking to leave modernity behind and escape to a far flung hideout will love our Queensland ‘Rainforest, Remoteness & Private Island Isolation’ itinerary. Start at a luxurious eco retreat in the Daintree Rainforest, then head inland to an outback lodge at Mount Mulligan, which bears the ghostly marks of the historic gold rush and is now a working cattle station. Finally head to the private Haggerstone Island in Far North Queensland which is alluringly remote, romantic and absolutely pristine. The state of QLD alone offers so much diversity. This itinerary is one for isolation seekers and Robinson Crusoe types! Details here: https://bit.ly/2PlVDiO or give us a ring on 02 9327 0666.

13.01.2022 In the early days of the station, outback hospitality was a lifeline for weary travellers and that easy conviviality still exists once you get far enough away from civilisation. Head up to the far north of the NT for dusty cattle work if you want to get stuck in and billabong swims, hiking and heli picnics if you don’t. An escape to Bullo River Station feels like a stay with old friends in the country.

09.01.2022 Director Julie McIntosh says - "Back in 92 when I started The Classic Safari Company, Lloyd's Camp was one of our highlights for all clients...off the back of Bryce Courtney visiting, he wrote an amazing The Sydney Morning Herald front cover article for us "The Power of Africa"...it was raw and real. Our top clients went and even had the luxury of their own loo, but shared shower with your neighbouring tent. This did not matter as the place delivered on every level, lions in camp, elephants in camp, good food, good company and the sense that you are living among Africa's wild animals. Take me back.... & Lionel Song was our guide who showed us this amazing place on more than one occasion."

09.01.2022 700,000 acres of deep gorges, majestic mountains, thermal springs and waterfalls...and almost no one there but you. This is the magnificent Kimberley, and El Questro at its heart. Heaven!

08.01.2022 'I think that I cannot preserve my health and spirits, unless I spend four hours a day at least...sauntering through the woods and over the hills and fields, absolutely free from all worldly engagements'. - Henry David Thoreau. Fresh air and fresh perspective is waiting for you in Tasmania. #cradlemountain #tasmania

07.01.2022 ‘Life goes onso let’s get started’ - wise words from specialist walking safari guide Iain Allan of Tropical Ice Safaris. He writes ‘As for most people 2020 has been a gruelling experience for me. At 72 I realise that I fall into the iffy category of those exposed to the virus, and I've spent countless hours upping my personal fitness programme because of this, reasoning that if I'm going to die then I'll do it in the best shape possible! Early on basic intelligence demande...d that I shunned the unrelenting barrage of the shameless 24 hour news channels, who unanimously dwell on the sensational aspects of the pandemic and still do brainwashing the vulnerable into thinking getting Covid is an automatic death sentence. By the time August arrived I was truly convinced that hiding under the bed waiting for some miracle vaccine isn't the way to go. I figure that at my age I have at best 10 more active years, I've just lost one in 2020, I'm damned if I'm going to lose another in 2021. I sometimes feel that where Covid is concerned we have become like the scorpion stinging itself to death with its own tail. I believe too that when history looks back on 2020 it will prove to have not been our Finest Hour. We know the rules and if followed logically, and with care, we can move forward with our lives. We can be adventurous again. Out in the wilderness, you couldn't be further away from humanity. Next year awaits us...let's get going!’ See more

04.01.2022 Imagine throwing an unforgettable bash in the African bush for your closest friends and family. Think acres of space, a personal chef, your own guide and safari vehicle, and a whole host of friendly neighbours who won’t complain about the noise! This is Luangwa Safari House in Zambia which sleeps 8 and sounds like heaven right now.

04.01.2022 Our land abounds in nature's gifts of beauty, rich and rare. Sometimes when you're forced to stay home it makes you look a little closer and appreciate how extraordinary our great nation really is. That's something worth celebrating. Anyone ever seen a thorny devil? Head to WA and you just might

04.01.2022 The historic 1850's Arkaba homestead set in the 540-million year old landscape of the Flinders Ranges and your base for a collection of single- and multi-day hikes covering some of the best bushwalking territory in Australia. Originally inhabited by the Adnyamathanha (Hill People), then a sheep station and now a private wildlife conservancy, the land of Arkaba is a pristine wilderness today but has plenty of stories to tell. Expert guides will share the natural wonder of the land and its wildlife and recount tales of the indigenous inhabitants, explorers and settlers, who have created the history of this area. This is your chance to immerse yourself in a wild bush story. Details here: https://www.classicsafaricompany.com.au/ac/arkaba-homestead or drop us a line.

02.01.2022 If you’re a wild bush luxury lover who’s itching for Africa, Bamurru Plains on the edge of Kakadu National Park will scratch that itch! Think fan boating through floodplains, a profusion of wildlife and birds, barramundi fishing and exclusive lodge style accommodation. The true luxury of Bamurru Plains is its location. This beautiful wilderness region of over 300 square kilometres is shared by just 20 guests but is home to one of the largest crocodile populations in the world, and the annual migration of over one hundred thousand magpie geese is a spectacle of nature. This is a top end safari with a watery twist! #bamurruplains #kakadunationalpark #seekakadu #holidayhere

02.01.2022 8 Outback pubs, 4000 kms, 5 days! Our Classic Outback Aussie Pubcrawl by air takes to the skies in October 2020. Tailormade private itineraries also available.

02.01.2022 At the end of each wet season in Chad, the nomadic Wodaabe people gather for what is perhaps Africa’s most romantic festival Guérewol. Young men dress in elaborate outfits, apply immaculate make-up and sing and dance to hypnotic rhythms in a seven day courtship contest. Top performers might win the affections of a wife or a partner for a single night of passion - there is no stigma attached to setting one’s marriage aside at the Guérewol Festival! Tensions run high and the atmosphere is electric as clans and families congregate for socialising, dancing and courtship. As one of Africa’s most spectacular festivals, it rather puts our Valentine's Day notions of romance to shame! . Photo credit Steve Turner of Origin Safaris who outfit trips to attend Guérewol. If you’re interested in attending the festival let us know!

01.01.2022 We call the third of our revamped Australia itineraries ‘Top End Immersion’ and it’s an exploration of the land with the people whose ancestors have walked it for millennia. Leaving Darwin you’ll head ‘out bush’ on a privately outfitted tented safari through Kakadu and Arnhem Land, which will offer a powerful insight into Aboriginal culture and the human/wilderness connection. You’ll then head to a luxury lodge to airboat through the lilies and reeds of the Mary River Wetland...s - a nature-lovers’ paradise, home to huge crocs, migrating magpie geese, jacanas, jabiru storks and more. The journey perfectly balances the comfort and style of a bespoke safari with the sense of adventure that comes from exploring the land as early civilisations would have done.
