25.01.2022 Some members of CSO have recently held house concerts in a great start to our House Concert series. Performers are having a lovely time sharing their music with a broad audience in an intimate setting. There will be more to come!

24.01.2022 House concerts have been underway and we have some great photos and video footage thanks to our supporters Photo ForMatt and Relive Photography! This was just one of our performers at a recent concert, ages ranging from 5 to adult.

24.01.2022 In the timeless setting of the Minnawarra Chapel Armadale, on Saturday 16th November The Classic Sounds Orchestra Association presented a recital featuring the great but humble orchestral instrument, the Viola. Aptly named, Viola Action!, each of the five Viola players presented solo works and delivered descriptions about the pieces and their composers. The musicians came together as the Viola Action ensemble to play a Baroque work by German composer Georg Telemann, and to pr...emiere a contemporary work by Amy Skellern. 14 year-old composer from the Classic Sounds Orchestra, Amy Skellern, composed a piece specially for this event, called Under the Moon. Written for five violas, you could truly experience the moonlight casting its glow out from behind the clouds. Musical director Rachel John says, this was such a beautiful and successful concert, I would love to do this again soon. Rachel found the musicians to be highly professional leaders in their approach to performing. Despite the 40 degree heat, both recitals were well attended and audience members walked away filled with musical joy, and a little more appreciation for this special and often undervalued middle voice of the orchestra.. the Viola. 22.01.2022 Don't forget to check our events calendar for up and coming events. We have some great performances coming up that will impress any audience. Please check the events for more details.

20.01.2022 Meet a Volunteer Founder and Musical Director of the Classic Sounds Orchestra Association, Rachel, has been directing weekly rehearsals for nearly 15 years. Tha...nk you for bringing music into the lives of many Rachel! "I love what I do because regardless of being a player or a concertgoer, music fills peoples souls with colour. As a volunteer I feel so valued, I get to see my musical friends every week with whom I play orchestral and fiddle music, and our special team spirit includes musicians of all ages and backgrounds. I have seen growth in this organisation from a little string group to now putting on beautiful performances for festivals and independent concerts at local venues in historical Kelmscott and Armadale. Monday is orchestra day, and Monday is the best day of the week. Rachel

01.01.2022 CSOs "Percusion Expansion Project". Through the generosity of Lotterywest and their support of the Classic Sounds Orchestra Association (CSO), we have received a grant that will contribute to the orchestras "Percussion Expansion Project". This has been a work in progress for 5 years and we are excited to have finally secured the funds that enable us to purchase a set of 4 Timpani and a full drum kit with cymbals.... We are the only community orchestra in the southern region that caters to all levels of ability and age. For more than 10 years, we have been sharing music and culture in our local community, through a variety of performances. CSO is enabling all musicians to band together to create and share music in an enjoyable and supportive environment. Currently a largely string and wind based ensemble, this funding from Lotterywest is set to further enrich the sound of the orchestra with the acquistion of a substantial percussion section.
