16.01.2022 #BREAKINGNEWS CLASSIC YASS COMMITTEE TAKES A BOW! After one of the most successful events in the 14 year history of #ClassicYass, the small Yass Antique Motor Club committee take a bow! ... The many hours over many years of dedication to growing the original 2005 ‘Celebration of Heritage Motoring’ to the Classic Yass of today has now been put on hold for 2020 until we can find a new enthusiastic committee who will continue the fine traditions of Classic Yass. The decision has had to be made quickly so the many visitors that have already booked for 2020 can change their accommodation arrangements and make other plans for the first weekend in November. There will be many disappointed entrants in all fields including the cars, fashion, markets and the community groups who have so greatly benefited from the successful influx of people to the region for Classic Yass. Classic Yass committee would like to sincerely thank all our local (of which there are many) and corporate sponsors, our local community groups, entertainers, fellow club members and family members for having faith, many from the beginning, in our dreams and plans for the event. The ‘Classic Yass’ concept was originally to promote the recreational aspect of owning a heritage car and the benefits of becoming a member of the Yass Antique Motor Club. It has achieved this goal incredibly well, with the starting up of at least four new car clubs in and around the Yass Valley area and the membership of the YAMC alone having quadrupled since the first event in 2005. With a few new hurdles presenting themselves this year, it was decided at the Yass Antique Motor Club Inc. monthly meeting on November 18 to take a break and later re-access the situation so the event may return in the future. The cancellation of the Rotary Billy Cart Derby has had no bearing on the YAMC’s vote. Classic Yass, with strong support, could go much further, but alas, at this stage, it has outgrown the time and resources available from our small, but very dedicated, group of volunteers who feel they need to take a breath. Classic Yass is an event that will be sadly missed by car clubs and visitors from all around NSW, ACT and beyond. The reputation of Classic Yass is now held in high esteem and is one of the top Motoring Enthusiast Events in the Country.
