During your training/professional years, no-one should be treated less, made to feel unwanted or uncomfortable. Too many dancers suffer with mental & physical health disorders throughout their training due to how they are treated by their superiors (teachers, directors & peers). 04.01.2022 To give yourself the ballerina look, here are 2 things you need to do: 1. Keep your chin parallel to the floor 2. Feel as though your chest bone is reaching diagonally upwards In the Before photo you can see my chest lacks expression, chin is low and this gives a lack of presence & presentation. The minute you focus on expressing with your chest and keeping your chin lifted, you naturally smile and have the look (as you can see in the After photo) This automatically gives you a confident look, so next time youre in class, try it! It wastes time focusing on someone elses journey- putting energy into someone else isnt bettering YOU. Instead, channel your energy into you 3. Remember that even a person that is perfect in your eyes will have hard struggles too. They may be different struggles to yours, but everyone has battles that y...ou dont know about 4. Stay in your lane & remember everyone is on their own path 5. Have a mindset like a runner- as a runner sprints to the finish line, do they think about the finish line or the person next to them? FINISH LINE! Focus on the path and destination you want to get to and dont be distracted with what is going on around you. Raising awareness is how dancers will learn to put their mental/physical health first, prioritise themselves and speak up The overwhelming amounts of DMs Ive received the past 24 hrs has been astounding. The favouritism, body shaming & mind games towards young children, teens & adults needs to stop so dancers can enjoy what they signed up to do: DANCE.
