24.01.2022 This term students learnt how to thread and use the sewing machine. To demonstrate this new skill and to showcase other embellishment techniques students designed and made a pencil case that can hold stationery used each day at school. In order to make their pencil case sustainable and have less impact on the environment students needed to use material and notions from used clothing and fabric scrapes on some of its sections.
19.01.2022 Year 11 Visual Arts in Practice students have completed Module 3 - Mixed Media Tribal Masks. In this module students explored the artwork of tribal cultures, contemporary subcultures and the medium of mixed media sculpture. They researched tribal or cultural designs, planned, created and evaluated their mixed media mask.
13.01.2022 Year 7 Visual Art students researched the style of artwork distinct to the Tiwi Islands in the Northern Territory. Indigenous works from this area tend to be very patterned and geometric. After a discussion of the design elements used within these works, students created an oil and ink resist drawing while being inspired by this style of artwork. Students found success in these works through careful colour scheme selection and repetition.
03.01.2022 Year 11 Visual Arts in Practice Students have begun Module 4 2D Assemblage. Assemblage is a form of sculpture comprised of 'found' objects arranged in such a way that they create an artwork. These objects can be anything organic or man-made. Objects could include old toys, sticks, nuts and bolts, sardine cans, bottle lids, old jewelry, anything you can think of. To begin Module 4 2D Assemblage, students engaged in a Assemblage Challenge Task. Students worked individually ...or in pairs and were only given three lessons to create an assemblage artwork using found objects. Students were encouraged to use one of the four assemblage techniques they have been studying. 1. Creating a background on your canvas using assemblage objects and painting an image over the top. 2. Creating a painting on canvas and using objects for final details to your image. 3. Drawing an image on canvas, building up the form with assemblage objects and then finishing the design with paint. 4. Using no paint and gluing all your object on canvas in a creative way to form an image or an abstract arrangement. See more
