25.01.2022 May Gods Spirit fill us with love and joy and peace this day.

24.01.2022 In August 1968, the country was still reeling from the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. four months earlier, and the race riots that followed on its hee...ls. Nightly news showed burning cities, radicals and reactionaries snarling at each other across the cultural divide. A brand new childrens show out of Pittsburgh, which had gone national the previous year, took a different approach. Fred Rogers had met Franois Clemmons at a church service after hearing him sing, and asked him to join the show. Mr. Rogers Neighborhood introduced Officer Clemmons, a black police officer who was a kindly, responsible authority figure, kept his neighborhood safe, and was Mr. Rogers equal, colleague and neighbor. A year later in 1969 when black Americans were still prevented from swimming alongside whites, Mr. Rogers invited Officer Clemmons to join him and cool his feet in a plastic wading pool, breaking a well-known color barrier. And there they were, brown feet and white feet, side by side in the water, silently, contemplatively, without comment. The episode culminated with Rogers drying off Clemmons feet. Most young kids were probably unaware of the real weight the episode carried, its scriptural overtones, but the image of a white man tending to the needs of a black man was seared in their minds nonetheless. Twenty five years later, when Franois Clemmons retired, his last scene on the show revisited that same wading pool, this time reminiscing. Officer Clemmons asked Mr. Rogers what hed been thinking during their silent interlude a quarter century before. Fred Rogers answer was that hed been thinking of the many ways people say I love you. In a world screaming out for tolerance, acceptance, kindness, and love - choose to be a Fred Rogers - because if more people could find a way to love others the way he did, without barriers, this world would be a much better place...

18.01.2022 "It is really important that we have faith during this uncertain time because we have hope and it means that we know that this uncertain time has an end. Not on...ly does it have an end, there is someone who knows how it ends. So that is where we get our hope from in knowing that God is with us through this and hell be with us after this." Sarah Hands, Chaplain, Raymont Residential College

09.01.2022 Re: Restrictions to gatherings from 22 August 2020 Effective from 8.00 am 22 August 2020, the Government has introduced new restrictions on gatherings in reside...nces and non-residences. The new restrictions do not apply to gatherings held on the premises of churches operating under the COVID Safe Industry Plan for Places of Worship. Please be reassured that plans to hold church services in church buildings this Sunday can proceed. For places of worship, the new restrictions impact gatherings or activities held off church premises, for example, small group meeting in homes or church social activities or events held in parks or other locations. The new restrictions relate to the maximum number of people allowed to gather and depend on whether the gathering is held in a restricted area or a non-restricted area. The new restrictions are: 1. For gatherings in restricted areas (areas which currently include Brisbane City, Ipswich City, Logan City, Scenic Rim Regional, Somerset Regional, Lockyer Valley, Moreton Bay and Redland City Local Government Areas please monitor the Qld Government website for updates to this list): A maximum of 10 people can gather publicly in a restricted area regardless of whether people are members of the same household or not. A maximum 10 people can gather at a residence in a restricted area. This means small group gatherings in homes are now restricted to 10 people. The 10 visitors can be from up to 10 different households. 2. For gatherings in non-restricted areas A maximum of 30 people can gather publicly in a non-restricted area. A maximum of 30 people can gather at a residence in a non-restricted area. This means small group gatherings in homes are now restricted to 30 people.
