24.01.2022 WA’s seafood industry depends on climate action. That’s why coastal communities are demanding serious action with no more delays. More than 90% of the heat trapped by carbon emissions is absorbed by the oceans. #wafishing
24.01.2022 We saw what happened to other power stations and we wanted to make sure workers were looked after - Bryan Ketteridge Australian Services Union Delegate. About 900 people are employed in coal mining and coal-fired power generation in Collie. But with planning and assistance, it is possible to create new jobs and economic opportunities while diversifying the local economy as WA switches to renewable energy. Learn more about the opportunities with the Beyond Zero Emissions Collie at the Crossroads Report: https://bze.org.au/research/regional/repowering-collie/
24.01.2022 WA is exposed to an increasingly hot and dry climate. It is clear that West Australians are paying a heavy price - including with their health - for government delays in job-creating climate action. https://www.mandurahmail.com.au//mandurah-posts-well-belo/
23.01.2022 Great news in Victoria: 12,000 new social housing homes will be built with a seven-star energy efficiency rating creating 10,000 jobs every year. Premier Andrews said This will change lives giving thousands of Victorians the security and stability of a home. WA needs a similar initiative. 23.01.2022 Every day, an area the size of 10 footy fields is logged or cleared in WA's south west. Native forests make rain and draw down carbon from the atmosphere. Forest protection is climate action. Transitioning the native timber industry to farm forestry and plantations is a local, achievable and immediate solution that will create jobs. How many jobs would the Forests For Life Plan create? >>>3490 jobs<<< Including 920 in farm forestry timber production and landcare. And support...ing 600+ jobs in the honey industry like Mikey from Pemberton Honey in this photo. 23.01.2022 Now let's upgrade the south west energy system to 90% renewables in the next decade and create over 8000 jobs getting it done. https://reneweconomy.com.au/graph-of-the-day-solar-is-now-/
19.01.2022 Just when we should be investing in clean solutions, the APA Group has announced a $460 million gas pipeline investment, linking gas fields in the Perth Basin to the Goldfields region, designed to open up more regions to gas exploration. https://reneweconomy.com.au/fracking-hell-gas-and-coal-pro/
18.01.2022 Small businesses create jobs and community across WA and now overwhelmingly support action on climate change. So far, more than 200 businesses, both big and small have signed an open letter to Premier Mark McGowan calling for a clean jobs plan that will supercharge our economy. 17.01.2022 "1250 Optus Stadiums are knocked down and bowled over every year in WA!" Western Australia has the second-highest rate of primary deforestation in the country and the native forest timber industry is operating at a financial loss to the state. These south west forests are now worth more standing thanks to the hard work of hundreds of beekeepers like Mikey Cernotta and forest-based tourism, which already supports thousands of local jobs in WA.... Native forests help make rain and protecting them from logging is also an important climate solution that has the potential to prevent 40-60 million tonnes of CO2 from being emitted over 10-years. The WA Forest Alliance Forests for Life Plan will create more than 3000 jobs and includes establishing a World Class Timber industry through Farm Forestry and Landcare, growing 40,000 hectares of high value, fast-growing trees for saw logs within existing farming land. Email your local MP and the WA Premier and let them know you support the Forests For Life plan: https://www.cleanstate.org.au/email-mark Follow WA Forest Alliance Pemberton Honey BICWA and get involved. #ForestsForLife #StopTheChop

12.01.2022 We have farmers struggling with the climate but other industries contributing. In WA we have very high emissions due to our gas sector, for example." We are a science-based industry and we are adapting as well as we can ... we do our bit and are prepared to do more, but we need our governments to do their bit as well. 07.01.2022 Hundreds of WA jobs could be created offsetting 7 million+ tonnes of carbon pollution that has already resulted from Chevron's carbon capture failures. Projects like tree planting, carbon farming and renewable energy could be delivered by the company right now. It would cost them less than 2% of their profits. https://www.watoday.com.au//carbon-capture-woes-mean-more-
