23.01.2022 UK accents the British love Guess which UK accent the Brits love best? While some may adore the accent from one part of the UK, others might prefer the tone from somewhere entirely different. However, research by GalaBingo.com has found that there’s one accent the great British public find most attractive and it might surprise you. Apparently, 17% of people say they find the Scottish accent the most attractive, quickly followed by the Welsh accent at 13%, and the Northe...rn Irish accent at 12%. If you were to survey English speakers in countries outside the UK, the Irish accent, both northern and southern, would surely come out on top. What do you think? Let us know your favourite. 02.01.2022 English Accents! - why so many? As late as the 1930s there was relatively little communication between towns, even those quite close by. This meant that very localised dialects developed. Most agree there are around 37 dialects in England today. The English are very proud of their local accent as they see it as a means of retaining their identity.
