24.01.2022 Congratulations to everyone involved! Here are the winners for the tomato section - photos will be added in the comments but better yet cruise by Elders and take a look. And ask about getting some seeds to enter next year! (Pumpkin winner post coming shortly)
22.01.2022 This is Sophie. She's five, and her giant tomato is nearly as big as her face!!
22.01.2022 Here's the map again for anyone headed to the Cattlemen's Challenge Field Day on Friday for a 9am start:
22.01.2022 The Clermont Show Committee have had to make the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Clermont Show that was to be held on the 25th, 26th & 27th of May due to the current recommendations from the Australian Government. At this stage, the Show Committee will still be going ahead with the Cattlemen’s Challenge, Giant Pumpkin and Big Tomato competitions. These competitions commenced prior to this decision being made however judging will take place privately and therefore, won...’t breach the current public health restrictions imposed by the Government and should not compromise community safety. The Beef Cattle section is yet to be decided as there are a number of considerations still to be determined. Once this decision has been made, we will make the announcement. The decision to postpone the Show has not been made lightly as we understand the importance of our event to the local community and businesses. However, the Committee feel that it is in our community’s best interest to not move ahead with the planning. The Show sees a large number of additional people travel into the community and we feel that this will add an unfair pressure to our already stretched hospital, doctors and nurses. We are also aware of what impact a potential COVID-19 case could mean to our aged care facility and elderly community and we don’t want to risk potentially jeopardising our community. To our committee, the health of our community is of paramount importance. We have also considered our committee, volunteers, competitors and exhibitors. These people work tirelessly for months in the lead up to the Show and are the back bone to our event. Without them, our Show is impossible to stage. A huge shout out to our amazing Sponsors. Those who have backed us through the hard times and have supported us in so many ways. Now it is our turn to back them and support them through, what will be, a challenging time. We hope that you will support us by supporting them. We hope all our patrons stay safe and healthy through these challenging times and we look forward to seeing everyone for our next Clermont Show. If you have any concerns, please email us at [email protected].
21.01.2022 The Clermont Show Committee’s Beef Cattle Committee have held a number of lengthy discussions in light of the extensive regulations due to Covid-19 and the below has been decided: - There will be NO Beef or Commercial sections for the show this year. - There will be NO FIELD DAY for the Cattlemen’s Challenge competition in 2020. - The Cattlemen’s Challenge competition will be completed by vendors (in isolation from other vendors) selecting their animals at Paringa for entry... into the carcass class, and the pen of 3 class. The pen of 3 will be judged at Paringa in isolation from the public. All cattle in the competition will be consigned direct to a processor where the Carcass class steers will be judged. Instead of a taste-testing competition this year, this section will be judged using the MSA eating quality score. Vendors with entries in the 2019/2020 competition will be contacted in the coming weeks with more information. - There will be no ‘Consumers Choice’ prize awarded this year. - Entries in the 2020/2021 Cattlemen’s Challenge will be trucked directly to agistment property. They will be weighed and processed on farm. Judging of the ‘Pen of 5 store steers most suitable to grow for the 100 day grain fed market’ will also be judged on farm. David Conachan will liaise with exhibitors and discuss in more detail. We thank all of ongoing exhibitors and sponsors for their support through these times and we hope to see everyone back bigger and better in 2021!
