17.01.2022 Early learning centres and schools are tasked with the role of developing an appreciation and understanding of Indigenous culture. Our four year old Kindergarten teacher, Paige, recently completed a survey about Indigenous culture and was lucky enough to win the prizes shown in these photos. We are lucky too - because she will utilise these resources when teaching the children at Clever Kids ELC!

11.01.2022 Did you guess who came to visit today? It was Tirtouga the turtle. Tirtouga live with our educator Becca and his other turtle friends Squirt, Mikey and Franklin. After talking about our need to use our gentle hands and then washing our hands when we are done, we all had a turn either patting or holding Tirtouga. Some of the things we learned about turtles today was the texture of their shell. They can walk and swim. Turtles can eat fish and some plants. We also saw that a tu...rtle can flip itself back over if it falls onto its back. What did your child enjoy most about meeting a turtle today?

07.01.2022 Today's National Child Protection Week resource is an activity: My safety network hand. My safety network hand is an activity that will help children to identify a support system that they can use if they need help. It requires them to identify ‘network people’ such as parents or guardians, family members, teachers, and so on. The network people should be adults they trust and who listen to them. This can be used as a tool for safeguarding or simply to open a conversation about the key people in a child’s life and how they can support the child. The trusted adults should not all be family members but a variety of trusted adults that ensures coverage across different places and times, so that a child is able to identify someone to go to talk to.

06.01.2022 - R U OK?Day - It’s our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, Are you OK? if someone in your world is struggling with life’s ups and downs. If you feel like something’s not quite the same with someone you know there’s something going on in their life or you notice a change in what they’re saying or doing - trust that gut instinct and take the time to ask them Are you OK? If someone says they’re not OK, make time to listen, e...ncourage action and check in. That conversation could change, or even save, their life. Check out the link below for a video to share with the family on how to start those conversations and best support people who may need a helping hand: https://www.facebook.com/watch/ See more
