21.01.2022 I saw this on Facebook and really felt the need to share it. I have NEVER seen a more perfect poem, written in the saddest way. "I destroy homes, tear families ...apart - take your children, and that's just the start. I'm more costly than diamonds, more costly than gold - the sorrow I bring is a sight to behold. And if you need me, remember I'm easily found. I live all around you, in schools and in town. I live with the rich, I live with the poor, I live down the street, and maybe next door. My power is awesome - try me you'll see. But if you do, you may never break free. Just try me once and I might let you go, but try me twice, and I'll own your soul. When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie. You'll do what you have to just to get high. The crimes you'll commit, for my narcotic charms, will be worth the pleasure you'll feel in your arms. You'll lie to your mother; you'll steal from your dad. When you see their tears, you should feel sad. But you'll forget your morals and how you were raised. I'll be your conscience, I'll teach you my ways. I take kids from parents, and parents from kids, I turn people from God, and separate from friends. I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride, I'll be with you always, right by your side. You'll give up everything - your family, your home, your friends, your money, then you'll be alone. I'll take and I'll take, till you have nothing more to give. When I'm finished with you you'll be lucky to live. If you try me be warned this is no game. If given the chance, I'll drive you insane. I'll ravish your body, I'll control your mind. I'll own you completely; your soul will be mine. The nightmares I'll give you while lying in bed. The voices you'll hear from inside your head. The sweats, the shakes, the visions you'll see. I want you to know, these are all gifts from me. But then it's too late, and you'll know in your heart, that you are mine, and we shall not part. You'll regret that you tried me, they always do. But you came to me, not I to you. You knew this would happen. Many times you were told, but you challenged my power, and chose to be bold. You could have said no, and just walked away. 02.01.2022 After much deliberation with my family over the last couple of days and with the strength and consent from my little brother we have decided to put this post up... with firstly the intention to spread some much needed awareness of bullying in our schools and also to express my honest disgust in both Gympie State High School and also our general public health system... This is my 12 year old brother who three nights ago was admitted to Gympie Hospital after attempting suicide by wrapping the cords from his bedroom curtains around his neck repeatedly with full intention to cause extensive harm. The cause of this? For months now this little guy has been bullied at school, he has been pushed around, been called names, been involved in both group and one on one fights, been made the laughing stock in front of his peers and the list goes on. Due to this constant harassment and negative engagement this has not only effected him greatly but has also had a negative impact on our family unit and how we operate on a daily bases. I truly believe from our experience, Gympie State High School has done nothing to support or protect their students and families against repetitive bullying and as a result my brother has been pushed to the point where he would rather turn to self harm appose to returning to school. I now find out that one bully was given a three day suspension but can then return to school, which he has done with full intension to repeat the same behaviour again. After speaking to other parents within our Gympie community and hearing how many kids are in the same boat with our schools I am fully aware that he is not the only one. This in itself is disgusting. It has taken three days, a huge battle with our public health system and a second admission to the Gympie hospital to have something done. Channel 7 have been supportive enough to jump on board with our story in conjunction with our politicians in Canberra and the Palaszczuk government. Together we have the full intension of spreading as much awareness about bullying and depression in our school kids as possible and have some changes made! Its simply just not good enough. There is more to this side of the story but Ill leave that to them... One hour ago we stood back and watched this 12 year old boy be strapped to a bed to be transferred to Brisbanes Lady Cilento hospital for further assessment. The last couple of days have absolutely shattered me and with little to no support from our health system towards my family, I personally have no intention of stopping this fight until something more is done! *Feel free to share* #GympieRegion #Bullying #SuicideAwareness
