24.01.2022 Wheelchair Tennis Player Ben.W working hard at his training ground...Turn and Burn!!

20.01.2022 A LITTLE REMINDER about what you can and cannot do as of this weekend. Be safe, play by the rules and wash your hands!

19.01.2022 Hi Grit Tennis Peeps, Regrettably, the Government has given notice to Tennis QLD that having a 10 people per court rule is now a 10 people per venue legislation effective as of 5pm yesterday; which was very disappointing but our governing body is doing their best to rectify this asap. As a result this does make it difficult for my program to run for all players as per your normal time frame as we could possibly go over the allocated numbers including possible social members ...hitting at the same time at a venue. Grit Tennis apologises with the intention to restart all junior programs next week on the 25th May will now be postponed until further notice. Private and semi private coaching is still available. Please stay safe and active in some way. For more info about covid-19 coaching Guidelines please visit:https://www.grittennis.com.au/covid-19-community-coaching-/ See more

17.01.2022 How lovely has it been to be back on court! Huge thanks to everyone who has been doing the right thing and enabling us to stay open by continuing to be COVID safe. COVID Update Tennis Queensland successfully negotiated an exemption with the Queensland government on behalf of the clubs, which allows us to host more than 20 people on site, providing our coaching groups do not co-mingle with social players. We are required to continue with our current COVID measures, including... signing in, no hand shaking, hand hygiene before and after play, and social distancing, which everyone seems to be managing well. Please can everyone be aware that the bubbler has been reopened for FILLING WATER BOTTLES ONLY. If you have forgotten your bottle, please borrow a cup from the kitchen. Coaching Thanks to our new exemptions, coaching is restarting on Monday 15th June. Please contact Fred Lay on 0407 968 578 or check his interactive website www.grittennis.com.au to sign up. Club Championships Our Club Championships will be in August this year. If you want to win one of our coveted CBTC towels, get your entries in soon! There will be forms and a box for entries in the club house soon. Court Cleaning Over the next few weeks we will be de-moulding the courts. We have done a bit of research to find out the best way to properly clean the courts without causing anymore destruction of the top surface, and have successfully completed a test patch. Hopefully, the courts will be looking mould-free again soon! Annual General Meeting Dont forget that our meeting is scheduled for Sunday 14th June 2020 at 9:00am. Come along and support your committee. Happy hitting! Katie Sheridan President Mb 0488 991117

06.01.2022 YES! We are open! During this national state of emergency, we are asking everyone to continue to follow the usual COVID-19 strict social distancing and hygiene behaviours. There will be NO ORGANISED SOCIAL TENNIS until further notice. Therefore, we ask people to restrict your court usage to 1 hour should there be people waiting to play. Club Facilities... The following facilities will NOT be available until after the current crisis: Clubhouse Gym Canteen Drinking fountain - PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLES Outside furniture BBQ facilities Shower The toilets will remain open for emergency use only. Safe play at our club Tennis holds a unique advantage as a sport which requires no direct contact between players. Please make sure that you: Touch racquets or verbally thank players, instead of the regular post-match handshakes Keep 1.5 metres away from other people while on court Wash/sterilise your hands before and after you play and avoid touching your face while playing Not share water bottles and bring your own full bottle/bottles Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or hand-sanitiser when available, before and after each match Be aware of what surfaces you touch, e.g. nets, net posts Use your elbow or foot to gently push open gates, or leave the court gates open Think about not changing ends as often, or not at all There is no specific evidence that tennis balls can spread COVID-19. However, we do know that on hard surfaces contamination by respiratory droplets from an infected person can potentially survive up to three days. Therefore, you should: Try not to touch your face after touching a ball Use new balls and clean your tennis racquet and bag regularly with alcohol-based disinfectant Use fewer balls per session Restrict balls to a particular group Self-isolate Please stay at home if you: Have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days Have been overseas or exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days Have flu-like symptoms Are in a high risk health category, for example elderly or have a pre-existing medical condition. Coaching Please contact Head Coach Fred directly for information regarding coaching at [email protected] If everyone is sensible about this, we will continue to see less COVID-19 cases in our region and we will gradually be able to lift more restrictions.

05.01.2022 * Limited play to return this weekend! * Tennis is set to return across the state from midnight Friday 1st May 2020, following a meeting of the Tennis Queensland Board of Directors on Monday evening. Upon reviewing the latest health advice, the Board recommends that all clubs now review their capability to provide a playing environment that follows Tennis Australias Guidelines for Community Play stringently. Once reviewed and confident that this is possible, the Tennis Queen...sland Board of Directors supports the reopening of our tennis courts. Further information to follow...

04.01.2022 Dear Members, Further to the decision of the Cairns Regional Council late yesterday, tennis clubs in our region have been ordered to cease operations effective immediately. This difficult decision has been made in the best interests of community health, in an increased effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.... Please rest assured that we will re-open soon as we have received the go-ahead from the council. Stay well and take care of yourselves. I will see you all on the other side! Kind regards, Katie Sheridan President CBTC

02.01.2022 This pesky virus is going to be around for a while. If you are not in a high-risk category and are healthy, lets all continue to play tennis as long as we can. TQ recommends washing your hands with soap before and after your tennis sessions. Keep a sensible distance (1.5m) from other players, and avoid shaking hands after matches; instead, you could tap racquets, or perhaps say a nice emphatic thank you! to each player instead. How about a lovely polite bow, like our Shingo? Make up your own bespoke handsfree handshake... #DoYourPart #KeepCalmAndPlayTennis

01.01.2022 Join us Friday 16 October at 6:15pm at Trinity Beach Tennis Club. Let us know if you need access to a chair. Racquets, balls, lights and friendly players provided!
