20.01.2022 With thanks to a Queensland Government Sport and Recreation grant, our club recently hosted a tennis coaching session for adults. ‘Coaching With Mick’ was an engaging and full morning for all participants, that included both theory and practical aspects. Participants were both men and women, all of whom were keen to learn more about the game. Our participating members now have plenty to work on with their ‘split step’, ‘leaving their head behind’ and other great tips for their forehands, backhands, and volleys. Thanks Mick for your efforts and a big thanks to the Queensland Government who funded such an opportunity.

Big thanks to Jules for taking over the Junior Coordinator role so seamlessly. We welcome Leanne as our new coach for all our Rookies and C Graders, and we thank Emma and Jason for their efforts in the canteen. A shout-out is also necessary for our parents who are stepping out on court to umpire matches it makes the tennis experience so much better for the children. Our club doesn’t run without volunteers, so a big thanks to all those involved.

11.01.2022 Senior Fixtures: We’re five weeks into the competition now (the halfway mark) so now’s an ideal time to peruse the Leaderboard. It looks like Walk The Line are the frontrunners, followed by the Sultans of Swing. We know things can change quickly, so it’s still anyone’s race. Big congratulations to all players involved so far. The tennis play has been great, all players have been displaying top sportsmanship, the nights have been fun and social, and the weather has been perfect each and every night! We thank our fill-in players also for chipping in when needed. Last week we welcomed two new players into the mix Isabella and Luke Sutton. Welcome!

05.01.2022 Clifton Tennis is thriving! Following lots of practice and preparation, three of our members have headed to the Brisbane Tennis Centre to compete in the Road To Brisbane State Finals. Alex, Charlie and Sam are certainly doing themselves, their families and our club proud. They're winning games, losing games graciously and fighting hard, drawing on their consistency, patience and determination. ... What a great experience for each of them. Keep playing well, kids!
04.01.2022 Here's a fantastic opportunity for our adult members to learn more about tennis from one of our coaches, Mick. The half day of coaching is capped at eight (8) members, and has been provided by the Clifton & District Tennis Association with the generous support of Queensland Sport and Recreation.
03.01.2022 Junior Tennis: We're excited at the prospect of our Junior Tennis resuming soon for 2021! It's hoped that Juniors kicks off by Week 3 of the school term (12th February). For this to happen, we need a Junior Tennis Coordinator. The Junior Tennis Coordinator is best suited to a parent who is available each Friday afternoon from 4.00pm. As was seen at the end of 2020, there are plenty of great adult volunteers to provide support to this role.... To run our highly successful Rookies program, we're also in need of Junior Coach. This role is best suited to an up-and-coming coach or a tennis parent. Please do consider taking on one of these roles. Our Junior program unfortunately cannot run without your help.

03.01.2022 Senior Fixtures: Our Senior Fixtures gets underway on Wednesday, 27th January. There will be new teams, new team names and potentially some new players, but guaranteed there will be the same great atmosphere each Wednesday night from 6.30pm. We’re looking forward to it! Senior Fixtures is particularly popular and so we’ll be calling for your nominations on the 3rd January. To run a successful competition, our numbers must be capped and so it’ll be first in, first served.
