22.01.2022 A reminder to do some spring cleaning on your website... Do you have a cookies policy? Is it GDPR compliant? Recently, WIX updated their cookies notice functionality YAY! ... It now prevents marketing performance and analytics cookies to be placed on your site prior to visitor consent (aside from some external elements which you need to specify in your privacy policy). SO... for those who have a WIX site, you need to manually update your cookie banner and delete the old. :) Have you done it? Do you need to?

19.01.2022 Portfolio time: product descriptions for beauty companies. Had a heap of fun writing some SEO product descriptions for glamaCo. beauty superstore. Smashing out 50 descriptions takes longer than I realised... but it was super fun to cover some of the brands we see on shelves like @Redken, @Schwarzkopfau and @moroccanoil_au... Probably hard to read the desciptions in the pic so here is sample for you: _______ Cleanse and remove excess residue from your hair and scalp with softening shampoo technology that targets sebum without stripping away hair fibres. With softening and moisturising properties from avocado oil, proteins and amino acids, the Redken All Soft Shampoo leaves hair feeling silky with a satin sheen. BENEFITS - Gently cleanses and softens - Leaves hair soft, manageable, and shiny *All Soft Shampoo, Conditioner, and Argan-6 oil vs. a non-conditioning shampoo _______

19.01.2022 In the quiet. At night. I dream.... About all the things I tried thinking about during the day but it wouldn't come . And then, in those moments just before drifting to sleep...BOOM. The idea drops . And that is just ONE reason why a rest day is so good. Does anyone else find that they make better decisions, plan better, get on top of things, and just feel better when they actually rest? #herbusiness #girlbossinspiration #entrepreneurher #fempreneurs #sheconquers #sheboss #bossbabemovement #hustlewithease #dreamersanddoers #pursuitwithpurpose #girlbosshustle #lmbdw #creativeladydirectory #mumpreneurs #theleaguewomen #collectivehub #smallbusinessau #australiansmallbusiness #shoplocalau #ladystartup #melbournesmallbusiness #smallbusinesssydney #smallbizsquad #beyourownmotivation #startuplifestyle #mumsinbusiness #thegramgang #setgoals #dontquityourdaydream #businesschicks

15.01.2022 Website copy showcase Full website copy for the team at @baseweave. Helping a business have an online presence that represents their vision for the brand is always a good day.... In some cases, business owners need full guidance on what language will engage their audience and what won't. In other cases, like baseweave's, the owner has a great understanding of their target audience, their needs and frustrations. Knowing which ones to showcase on the website matters. After learning about how baseweave's low-code database system works, I personally wanted the product and could have written about it for days. Shout out to the incredible @the_luxe_co for another creative and user-friendly web design. #socialmediamanagement #socialmediamarketingtips #copywriting #copywriter #socialmediamakeover #socialmediaservices #socialmediaconsulting #contenttips #digitalmarketing101 #instagramgrowthexpert #leadmagnet #marketingtips4you #socialmediahelp #wixdesigner #digitalwriter #copywriters #smallbusinessau #australiansmallbusiness #shoplocalau #ladystartup #melbournesmallbusiness #smallbusinesssydney #smallbizsquad #sydneybusiness #melbournebusiness #socialmediamanager #digitalagency #contentmarketing #contentcreation

15.01.2022 So you know me by now... Mondays I love to do a good 'Behind the scenes' at CVC. Last week was CHOCK-A-BLOCK with writing.... I was switching between clients like there was no tomorrow. website copy for a tech company website copy for a marketing agency Christmas appeal for a charity Social media management reports for 4 clients (with results getting 8% over industry standard for one client and 49% over industry standard for another!) *Helpful tip... in working in collaboration with @the_luxe_co to achieve these incredible results and scroll-stopping insta feeds, we are loving @latermedia for scheduling and reporting!

12.01.2022 I have seen some advice going around on Instagram about how blogs are irrelevant now. Although social media platforms want you to keep your followers on their platform, and you can now use every post to give little snippets of what used to be in your blogs... I'd like to suggest this: Blogs still have a place and it depends on your goals. ... For SEO purposes, Google actually loves a website that keeps their pages fresh with new info. So if you're a numbers guy or gal, and you not only like to see your follower count go up, but your web traffic go up then you may want to reconsider blogs. PLUS... as much as my business has boomed from simply having a social media presence, followers mean nothing if they aren't heading over to my website and converting into a lead. So... you're probably thinking... "how will I find time to do it all?"... Keep an eye out for my next post.

10.01.2022 You know that awkward feeling when you're on the train and you're wedged in between someone's smelly armpit and a group of high school kids who don't understand the term 'inside voice'? Yeah, that's basically a sandwich page. Oh... you want a little more info? Well... a sandwich page (although it might feel a little awkward) is usually another landing page that seems to wedge in between two steps of your sales funnel (the opt-in and the thank you page).... It can be really great for up-selling or simply adding people to your email list (legally). By ensuring each page is only guiding your audience to take one action, you can ensure you are keeping people moving through in sequence AND fulfilling some of the rules around GDPR compliance (a few ways to do this). Do you have a sandwich page? Do you need one? Are you looking forward to lunch now? #emailmarketing #emailfunnels #listbuilding #copywriter #melbournecopywriter

09.01.2022 Use your FAQ's to correct mistruths and ease the concerns of your customers. Here's the thing, from general conversations, you'll know the questions you get frequently asked... it may sound something like: 'How much will that cost?'... 'Will that get me enough return?' 'How long will it take?' 'Do you have examples of this EXACT thing?' 'Can that be tailored?' So... rather than leaving your customers with those questions in their heads use your: - WEBSITE - INSTAGRAM HIGHLIGHTS - SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS To answer those questions one by one. Thinking back to my PR books and "persuasive techniques", this really is all about addressing the opposing view or concern and giving evidence as to why that concern is not actually a concern. If what you offer really does do wonders, help your clients or customers move PAST fear and achieve their goals (using what you have to offer).

06.01.2022 The non-photographer's guide to editing photos for Instagram. - - - -... Here's the thing. You don't need a fancy camera to create scroll-stopping photography. Pre-COVID, one Instagram account that I manage required me to take photos of the premises. I freaked out. I'm not a photographer... I'm a writer. I do communications and marketing... I don't 'do' photos. Thankfully I somehow stumbled (ok... more honestly I probably prayed about it and then googled haha) across Photoshop Express (an app for your phone). My first efforts were woeful. But seriously, after some practice, I've been able to turn some pretty average shots into my best performing posts. Depending on your brand, you can edit your photos to become bright and colourful, grungy or light and airy... the options are endless. WHAT APPS DO YOU USE?

05.01.2022 Don't tell anyone... but I do have favourites. When it comes to the favourite parts of my job, website copy is right up there! I love meeting new business owners, hearing their passion and excitement for what they do, and being able to capture that heart and put it into words.... I've just had the joy of writing the full website for a paediatric osteopath and sleep consultant... can't wait to show you the final product!

03.01.2022 PROFESSIONALISM ON SOCIAL MEDIA There's one thing I wish I got asked more. And it's this: What's appropriate on social media? Now... I know this will probably spark some conversation, so feel free to let me know your opinion also. This is mine:... As someone who is on multiple platforms personally and professionally, here would be my advice: *Your personal profile although personal, is not private. Anything that you wouldn't want prospective employers to see, think twice about posting. BUSINESS ACCOUNTS 1. Facebook and Instagram - more laid back. People don't mind seeing some occasional life updates. Fun, engaging, hilarious ways of promoting your content - go ahead. *WARNING* Sharing political views can be touchy as a business... you need to remember why people are following you and if you do share, respectful discussion is always key... a mocking tone could actually be turning your own customers away. 2. LinkedIn - make sure you're being strategic about what you DON'T post on this. I have seen people publicly humiliated on this platform. TikTok dances, your favourite recipes, funny memes... unless they have a business context will have a hard time pleasing this audience. Remember that people are often on this platform to network, upskill and recruit. Respect that.

01.01.2022 As promised: A tip on content creation. Overwhelm can be real... I get it! It's so easy to get caught up in the feeling of 'this is all too much' and tossing content creation to the "do it later" pile. So here is a way to get your BLOGS, INSTA POSTS, FB POSTS + LINKED IN ARTICLES created all at once.... 1. Write a list of topics you want to cover for the month. 2. Write a blog on those topics. You're pretty much done. WAIT... WHAT? Now all you need to do is REPURPOSE THAT CONTENT! Around three social posts can be created from that blog content (depending on your strategy you may want to send them to your blog to read more). A LinkedIn article can also be published with some slight tweaks OR exactly the same but with some backlinks to go back to your website that leads to similar articles. You can even write a short email to subscribers that leads them to your blog (make sure it offers high value and intrigues them to want to read). So yeah... there you go... 2-step content creation. When do you do content creation? I find it fun (weird!) so I'll usually try to find an hour or two over the weekend. :)

01.01.2022 First things first... what is a lead magnet? Basically it is something you offer to your potential customer or client in exchange for their email address or other info. It's usually one of the first steps moving your followers to the next stage and generating a sales lead.... Think FREE pdfs, courses, webinars, recipes, guides etc. For those who use their social media to give away free tips and advice related to your product... you could actually be halfway there to creating a lead magnet. Think about it... if your followers follow you for that info... then you likely have new followers coming in all the time who would also be interested in your old content... so BUNDLE IT! Give them the convenience of reading it all in one place. Where are you up to in creating a lead magnet?
