21.01.2022 BUSINESS UPDATE I have had a number of enquires over the last week! It’s really lovely to be thinking about getting back to it. Like everyone I am operating on a ‘wait and see’ basis. At this stage it’s looking like Metropolitan Melbourne photographers will be able to resume after October 26th. I am taking tentative bookings for after October 26th. Fingers crossed we are able to go ahead!!! I am excited to be saying this, my calendar is starting to fill!! If you’re hoping to have your session before Christmas then I’d suggest booking a date ASAP.

20.01.2022 Elle and Scott It was such an honour photographing these two beautiful people during their engagement picnic at @butterflyredhill. These two are one of the many couples who have had to push back their wedding this year. Elle and Scott have the kind of love that deserves to be celebrated . In hindsight, not the best year to open up the wedding photography aspect of my business . Bring on 2021 and beyond!!

16.01.2022 Hello world! This is me (life should bbbbeeeeeeee, fun for everyone. If you understood this reference, you are getting old ). Recently I asked my husband to take some photos of me with my girls. I’m usually the one behind the camera and not in front of it. I feel like it’s such a vulnerable thing looking at photos of ourselves, especially as women. I almost cried when I saw this photo. Instead of ripping shreds off myself... I looked at how happy and connected I look playing with my two absolutely beautiful daughters.

15.01.2022 A huge congratulations to these two, who after a whirlwind of changes due to new restrictions, were able to say ‘I do’ in front of their friends, family and children . Thank you Samantha and Laurence for trusting me to capture your special day! My first ever full wedding... absolutely loved it.

15.01.2022 Business update At the moment Metro Melbourne photographers will be allowed to resume work after the third step of the Victorian roadmap in October. So very exciting! However unfortunately at this stage the mask rule still applies, hindering a lot of our business’ (unless you’re up for mask photos ). There is a petition circulating asking for an exemption for those being photographed to be able to remove masks, and then put them back on immediately afterwards.... Photographers will still wear masks and keep a 1.5m distance to ensure safety. You can find this petition to sign on my Facebook page or check out @danielledobson_photographer’s bio for a link. 12.01.2022 Is anyone else feeling the end of summer in the air? And have I mentioned how grateful I am to everyone that has booked with me since lockdown lifted? Not only have I been able to meet many more beautiful families and babies, had past clients return, but I’ve also began to book weddings in 2021 AND 2022. Forever grateful to all of you.

11.01.2022 How do you prepare your toddler for a photoshoot? Feed them, make sure they’re comfortable and relax. ‘RELAX?!?’ I hear anyone who has even encountered a toddler say. I know, it’s incredibly difficult to relax when you have a wild toddler in the room/great outdoors. Toddlers can sense our fear though, so unfortunately if we’re really stressed and losing patience, this can escalate any toddler behaviours! Here are some hot tips if you are having a photoshoot with your ...toddler - Give yourself plenty of time to get ready and arrive at your photoshoot destination. - Make it feel like a fun and relaxed family day out for them. - Bring a spare pair of clothes for them so it’s not as worrying if they’re running around getting dirty. - Bring snacks and water, but don’t use them as bribes. Usually food bribes end up being demanded in our session if they have been promised . - Chat to your photographer about things they like to do so they can have some tricks up their sleeve! See more

10.01.2022 This beautiful family travelled all the way from the other side of the city for their family photoshoot. It was the perfect evening, not too hot but warm enough to get your toes wet in the ocean and explore the pine forest in bare feet (watch out for the pine cones though!). It was a pleasure to witness and capture little Lennon’s first time at the beach! He was so excited that he ran straight for the ocean!!! Can you imagine what it would be like to see the ocean for the first time?

10.01.2022 Allegra My beautiful first born will be 2 years old in a few weeks. This year has thrown quite a few changes at her and she continues to hold her head high and be her hilarious little self (most of the time).

09.01.2022 My heart is so full after this weekend! I got to meet two absolutely beautiful newborn babies AND witnessed the most amazing couple finally able to marry each other. Honestly even the grinches heart would definitely have expanded after seeing so much love. How lucky am I to capture all these chapters in people’s love stories?

08.01.2022 Can you imagine what it must feel like seeing the ocean for the first time? This family session was super special... I got to capture Lennon seeing the ocean for the very first time. Needless to say, he LOVED it, and wanted to drive straight in. What an incredible moment to witness .

08.01.2022 I’m soooo excited to start organising these memory boxes after lockdown has ended. To be honest I’m a little nervous to be hitting the ground running after so many months in the slow lane. Anyone else feeling this way? These are made from beautiful Tasmanian Oak right here on the Peninsula and perfect for display in the home.

08.01.2022 Are you seeing the light at the end of the tunnel? It’s October! It feels like the finish line is getting closer. After months and months and months of nothing, it’s certainly going to be a jam packed rest of the year. I am so excited to start photographing families again and am SUPER excited for my first weddings to finally be able to go ahead. Most of all I can’t wait to see my own family though. They’ve missed out on watching my babies grow and my babies have missed out on them. I don’t plan on taking a single moment together for granted once we’re reunited.

07.01.2022 My brother, a proud Father!!! Therefore we are able to pass on all the affectionate nicknames he called our Dad growing up. Papa Cheese, Santa (Dad was going through a beard phase), Popsicle and Old Man are among my favourites.

06.01.2022 4 beautiful boys . Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Blake, Nicoli, Angelo and Sebastian with their parents Tamika and Ray. It was so much fun!! Despite a random tiny bit of drizzle, we still had a fantastic time running about Schnapper Point in Mornington. Let me tell you, I realised I have a bit of work to do in the fitness department after trying to keep up with these gorgeous boys. Tamika had come to Schnapper Point years ago and thought to herself... she would love to have family photos here. Now all her gorgeous kiddos were able to come here with her! It was such a pleasure sending off their gorgeous gallery today! I love meeting such wonderful families. See more

06.01.2022 Lockdown life! Can’t wait to show this baby girl the world. Check out what we’ve been up to on my blog with my ‘lockdown diaries’ series. I’ve been trying to pick up my camera often and document our lives here in lockdown. Wish there was more to report haha! 2020 hasn’t been ideal but there have been some beautiful things to come out of it.... Our gorgeous baby girl, I have a new niece and a gorgeous nephew born earlier in the year! Silver linings!

05.01.2022 Steph and Bonnie here are style icons! I met them when Bonnie was 9’weeks old and they had her newborn photos on the pier in Mornington. Steph appeared before me wearing the cutest jumpsuit, a cool hat and just generally appearing to be a rockstar Mum. A year later their stylish reign continues .

This is a question I got asked a lot so I created a Pinterest board for inspiration, give helpful tips in my session guide and we chat about it in our planning phone call so there’s no last minute panic. Jess. Michael. Remy and Rafferty here are a beautiful example of a ‘cohesive family look’ without being matching.

03.01.2022 This is how excited we were before Christmas! I hope everyone had a wonderful time and are recovering from all the food! We spent our Christmas in Gippsland with our families. Usually we would go visit several times a year, however this was the first time we’d been down since Christmas 2019 . Christmas has always been a joy filled time for my family , so it’s definitely something I want to keep special for my own children! Filled with merriness, kindness, gratitude, too much food and a wine for Mum!

01.01.2022 What’s something you’ve been given that you treasure for sentimental value? When I had my first daughter, I was given hand knitted jumpers that my Mum and Omi had made for me when I was a child. My Omi would have been so proud to see the next generation staying warm in her cosy jumpers.

01.01.2022 Newborn photos! Oh me oh my. I always leave a newborn session feeling like I’ve witnessed a miracle. I feel so privileged to be able to capture a small part in this beautiful chapter of a families life.
