20.01.2022 Philippe Alliet Chinon Blanc 2017 I’m so thrilled to have a look at this wine. I love Chenin Blanc, and Chinon doesn’t make much of it, usually an attribute to the neighbours such as Saumur and Vouvray. Philippe Alliet is world renowned for his Cabernet Franc but he is an assumed fan of white Burgundies. Domaine Coche-Dury is on his yearly visit list and Raphael Coche visited Philippe a few times. For Philippe making a white wine has been a lifetime goal and he had his ...eyes on a special site for quite some time. Planted about 15 years ago now, this steep vineyard is planted on tuffeau/ yellow limestone The nose exhibits complex notes of fresh hazelnut, ripe pear, honey, hints of quince and a mineral edge. That is very delicate on the palate at first and it grows into a powerful wine, tense yet with oily texture on the side and a good zing, vibrante and giving. 15.01.2022 Dinner for one making full use of the @coravin to keep a lid on my alcohol consumption. Amazing wine preservation system I normally use in restaurants but works... a treat for personal use as well. I don’t have to finish the bottle in two days anymore. (Sometimes takes me one day to finish two bottles but we have to be reasonable come on ). Tonight I take two glasses of the Syrah from Jean Luc Jamet merci mademoiselle, and tomorrow I can coravin a bottle of Cabernet Franc. I will get back to the Syrah next week. Bon appétit! 12.01.2022 Chassagne Rouge 2018 from Joseph Colin The only red of the Domaine, old vines planted in the 60’s in climats Les Pierres and La Poirier du Clos Though still very young, there is plenty of things to like with this wine, vibrant, fresh and powerful yet balanced. It’s not new that I love great Chassagne Rouge and Joseph has made a stunning example, putting him in the league of Ramonet for that regard. The nose is fruity, wild berries, griotte, cassis blossom, dried h...erbs, litre spices and towering minerality.
