24.01.2022 Here's a pretty special announcement! RED Group is delighted to partner with Downer, Close the Loop, and Hume City Council on this exciting trial. It demonstrat...es a great step toward a circular system, where soft plastic packaging recovered through the REDcycle Program, and other materials previously destined for landfill, can be used as a resource for Australian roads. https://www.theconstructionindex.co.uk//plastic-bags-to-be

19.01.2022 Last night we attended the 2018 Hume Business Awards. We are so pleased and honoured to receive awards for Innovation and Sustainability, and the big one, Business of the Year! Thank you very much to all of our employees, partners and supporters. We also thank the Hume City Council who have been massive supporters of ours over the last 10 plus years since we’ve been in Somerton. We look forward to exciting times ahead! #sustainability #circulareconomy #Reconophalt #TonerPlas #TonerPave #Innovation #BusinessoftheYear

18.01.2022 Great to see another council now using TonerPlas in their roads. The recent upgrade of Birdwood Avenue in Ballarat, Regional Victoria, used Downer’s high recycled-content asphalt, known as Reconophalt, which includes TonerPlas. The upgrade diverted around 50,000 plastic bag equivalents, 16,000 crushed glass bottles not suitable for re-manufacture, and the toner from more than 1,200 toner cartridges from landfill. #closetheloop #circulareconomy #sustainability #plasticrecycling Sustainability Victoria

17.01.2022 To celebrate World Environment Day, Close the Loop launched its latest environmentally friendly, carbon reduced asphalt additive called TonerPlas that not only makes a better quality, longer lasting road, but is a major contributor to solving the problematic waste issue of soft plastics. In Australia alone, more than 300,000 tonnes of soft plastic ends up in landfill every year. Not only is this bad for the environment, it is a monumental waste of a valuable resource that c...an be re-used and re-purposed into new products. Our contribution to solving the soft plastics problem is TonerPlas. This is a formulated product using waste toner collected from printer cartridges via programs like Cartridges 4 Planet Ark, and soft plastics collected from the community by our partner RED Group The formulated product is then injected into the asphalt mix with our partner Downer Group who adds recycled glass and recycled asphalt pavement to create lower carbon, higher quality roads with 65% improvement in fatigue life. Every kilometre of road will contain the equivalent of 530,000 plastic shopping bags, 168,000 glass bottles, and waste toner from 12,500 printer cartridges. This is something to celebrate on World Environment Day! #recycling #worldenvironmentday #closetheloop #plasticroads

13.01.2022 In NSW today, the first recycled road containing soft plastics and glass was laid. Creating a higher quality, longer lasting road surface whilst dealing with two major problematic waste streams. https://www.facebook.com/7newssydney/videos/2249518085072312/?notif_id=1533177245002562¬if_t=live_video_explicit

09.01.2022 Close the Loop is happy to celebrate 15 years collecting cartridges through the Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program. Over 38 million cartridges have been collected resulting in over 26,500 tonnes of product diverted from landfill. If you don't have one of our 40,000 collection boxes in your office, go to https://www.closetheloop.com.au/collection-program/ to register with the program or locate a collection point near you and get involved! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-t-FDXsSbU&feature=youtu.be

05.01.2022 The Adelaide Hills Council has committed to laying 19,000 m of asphalt roads using TonerPlas, in partnership with AAA Asphalt. They're rolling out greener, more sustainable, and longer-lasting roads by adding TonerPlas to their roads. The recent reseal of Wembley Avenue in Adelaide, South Australia, used around 114,000 plastic bag equivalents and toner from 2,700 printer cartridges. Check out the video below to see how they have been using TonerPlas in their roads.... #CloseTheLoop #REDcycle #circulareconomy #BeyondTheBin #TonerPlas #1000kmTonerPlasChallenge #recycling #sustainability Youtube link to video: https://lnkd.in/gmn22Ff

05.01.2022 In an Australian-first, more than 200,000 plastics bags and packaging and 63,000 glass bottle equivalents will be diverted from landfills and repurposed to crea...te a Hume road. 04.01.2022 #Cartridges4PlanetArk turns 15 in 2018 and seven-time world champion surfer Layne Beachley celebrated with the kids from Northern Beaches Secondary College in C...romer, NSW. Thanks to Brother Australia, Canon Australia, Epson, HP Australia, Konica Minolta Australia, and Kyocera Document Solutions Australasia for being responsible product stewards, Close the Loop Australia for recovering essential resources from printer cartridges and Downer for making innovative products - such as road surfaces - from those resources!

02.01.2022 Close the Loop is very excited to be partnering with HP and Planet Ark to Break down the Beast, the plastic beast that is killing our oceans and marine life. As a zero waste to landfill business and the power behind the Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program, we’re doing our bit to make sure that plastics are properly recycled and re-used into new products like HP toner and ink cartridges, our Enviroliner pens made of recycled plastic and recycled ink from inkjet cartridges, and asphalt additives made from soft plastics and printer toner to make better roads. Check out the Plastic Beast at https://www.breakdownthebeast.com/ and visit our website at www.closetheloop.com.au/products for more information on our products.
