24.01.2022 Our honeymoon has been postponed ... but I can definitely still manifest and dream . We were meant to be road tripping through Europe for 2 months this year but everything is up in the air now (except us, who are at home). 24.01.2022 Lets reel it back, lets take a breath, lets stay calm. Im not gonna lie I took on a lot last week, like so many others, my screen time sky rocketed as I scrolled and scrolled and liked/disliked/judged/felt judged all in a mad panic. I did what was needed for me to release the energy I was absorbing from all angles. I was there for our clients 100 % and I am super proud that we could hold space for people as they struggled to navigate the changing times. Even though I was... holding it together on the outside I was sort of starting to fray on the inside. I couldnt believe that everything we had worked for over the past 5 years could be changed so instantaneously but of course I wanted to protect as many people as I could and did what was needed with no hesitation. It felt full on and I know I was not alone. Then I remembered to breathe, I remembered to see the bigger picture, take stock, accept what I cannot control and take control of what I can actually affect. I can only manage how I show up, in this, in life, how I show up to the universe and say this is my authentic self, lets work together. We dont need to take it all on, theres a balance to be held. Stay true to yourself, work for what you know needs to be held sacred. Dont freak out. Stay calm, lets send all the love out to everyone who is needs it right now, to everyone who is grieving a loss, missing family, wondering whats next. Love to you all where ever you are. 19.01.2022 When we gave our website a bit of a zjush recently (subtle plug - go check it out, looks awesome ) we decided to write some evergreen content for our blog and started talking about what would be the most useful stuff for couples to know. We decided that writing about what looks best on film would be a good place to start. Only problem was, we couldnt immediately figure out what that was. 19.01.2022 Hey its us Taku and Jem (and little puff of our pup Chief). We have been making wedding videos for officially 4 years full time now (and part time for a year before that). So proud that our part time passion became our full time gig and has been able to support our family and life - especially this year with everything that has gone down! Our little rad team of creatives have been so incredible to work with and we learn so much from everyone that has been and is part of C...loudHerd. Thank you everyone for your continuous support. 18.01.2022 G R A T I T U D E Its been so necessary to slow down for so many reasons. I think we will all be returning with so much perspective and purpose. I am loving how much generosity and kindness we are witnessing from afar. We were so lucky to be gifted these beautiful flowers to brighten our home (and its nice being home to appreciate them!) from the ever talented @wild_blue_studio and yesterday we were also gifted delicious foraged mushrooms and @mokkebier from the lo...vely @wimvanthielen and @clairevanthielen and to top off the week that kept on giving have also been gifted toilet rolls! 15.01.2022 R U T : theres been an energy lately dragging on the edges for so many people and so many communities, so many businesses and individuals. An underlying sense of fear, grief, loss, stress, a feeling of hysteria just below the surface. Theres an unknown, a whats next, a what now? We are keeping on going and being busy with the everyday but I have been trying so hard, so often to put aside the feeling of being unsettled, of feeling stuck in a sort of in between place, Ive be...en refusing the uncomfortable feelings, shoving them below the surface. Having just spent a few days away to focus on work and on getting some serious hours into editing I am returning refreshed and renewed but I also had some time to realise that you cannot escape the shade, I cannot stand always in the light. When you have a sense of being uncomfortable or unsure it is not always possible to fix that feeling but I have been practicing acceptance, bringing awareness to what cannot be controlled. 14.01.2022 Im sure you are wondering if it may feel awkward to have Taku this close to you and your new husband/wife as you gaze into each others eyes and tell each other all the wonderful romantic things you felt during your ceremony. As you can see though by Simone and Toms relaxed vibe the answer is clearly no and Ill tell you why...because Taku will not be listening to anything you say to each other and that is because there are two times that you cannot get any information acro...ss to Taku and one is when he is focussed on getting the perfect shot and the other is when he is eating, so never fear, all your secrets are safe, its like he is not even there, except he is there to get the magic (and secrets) on film! And dont worry he is well attuned to getting out of the way for the photographer to get their magic photo as well, except in this case because he and Chris from @atdusk have a bromance that makes the whole photo/video shoot feel more like a super fun double date completely eliminating the third wheel awkwardness occasionally experienced at weddings. This past week brought with the full range of emotions for me and Im going to real, its been a far cry from how I felt when I took this photo a couple of weeks ago in beautiful Bellingen. At that time I felt centred and connected, full of motivation and energy but since coming home I have had to journey through a range of physical and emotional stresses diverging my path somewhat further than I would have liked, landing me where between where I was... and where I am heading. . Because progress isnt a straight line, is it? . Swerve sideways when you need to. We reach forward and we retract, we expand and we deflate. So if you have taken a couple of steps back lately hang in there. 11.01.2022 @tinder should probably pay these guys for being the ultimate success story, right?! There were lots of things about Steph and Kyles wedding that made it pretty damn special. Firstly (and most importantly) they are dead set legends. Taku and Xian had so much fun on the day and we were more determined than ever to turn out a film that did it justice. Secondly, we got to shoot alongside the Southern highlands finest, @mitchpohl, which is always a good time (cover photo is one... tiny example of his ridiculously great work). And thirdly, we were shooting at one hell of a venue. @kangaroovalleybushretreat has always held a pretty special place for us. Besides the fact that we always have a great time there, its also almost impossible to make it look bad on film so our job becomes super easy. This wedding took place just weeks before this stunning venue was badly damaged by bushfires and our hearts broke for them as well as all the many couples who now had to quickly come up with a plan B. Watching this film back however reminds us not just how gorgeous the location is but also how good all the people involved are. Theyre going to be back better than ever and we cant wait to shoot there again soon!! In the meantime, heres to Steph and Kyle and their epic love. Every wedding should have a Tiny Dancer singalong. 06.01.2022 Its no secret that this year is throwing all sorts of challenges at us all. Weve had bushfires, floods, and now this. Its enough to make anyone give up. But you know whats truly amazing - people havent. Were seeing weddings being postponed, not cancelled. Beautiful and unique elopement plans are being made at the last minute if postponing isnt possible. Weve shot weddings that have been moved with only a weeks notice because of the fires. Weve driven 40km an hour in... torrential rain down a freeway that was close to flooding to get to a wedding. And most importantly, were seeing couples everywhere acknowledging that its being with their other half thats the really important thing, with the particulars of the wedding day just the icing on the cake. Remember the floods last month? Jess and Kevin got married on the worst day of it all but honestly, no-one there even felt it. They all had the best time. The love was real. The party was great. If youve recently had to postpone your wedding, know this - when it comes, its going to be f***ing awesome, no matter what happens. And in the meantime, take this opportunity to slow down and revel in just how bloody good your partner is and how much more awesome shit youre now going to get to love about them by the time your wedding does come around. 03.01.2022 Well, 2020 certainly isnt off to the start wed all hoped for. To say that times are tough is an understatement, but we know that people are tougher, and there will be positivity to come out of this. Already the earth has caught a massive breath of fresh air, incredible stories coming from places usually full of pollution, theres no denying that with the hardest times comes the greatest lessons and often the most precious unexpected moments. Love and care for each other cou...ldnt be more important right now and every little gesture counts. When the general mood is one of fear, uncertainty and anxiety we need to work together with open minds and hearts to support and lift each other up. If youve got a wedding planned with us, know we will do whatever we can to make it work. We are ready, willing and able and are totally down with an elbow bump or air high five in place of the usual hugs. We are also taking extra precautions and care so that we that we can do our bit and slow the spread of this thing. If you need to reschedule, we will work with you and understand that plans may change even in the days leading up to an event.
