24.01.2022 Ok, admitted, I'm an etymology nerd and this was fun for me!

23.01.2022 For some good lapis reading (behind Sarah Searight's excellent book), this article by Don Emerson in the journal of the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists is recommended. It covers a wide range of topics - mineralogy, geology, history, art and poetry! https://www.publish.csiro.au/PV/pdf/PVv2015n179p63

22.01.2022 Very excited by my new Moments macro lens. Where to start? ... #dioptase of course! #momentmacro

22.01.2022 A glorious sunset shot

21.01.2022 Good news! Beirut's world class Mineral Museum survived relatively unscathed from the explosion yesterday.

18.01.2022 I hate to admit it, but I was so completely disengaged by high school geology that I tried to cheat on my Year 9 test by coding in the numbers on the bottom of the specimens (our teacher had said prac books allowed but then put them on his desk as we filed into the room, I wasn't the only sucker, but I did at least have mica (1/20) in my repertoire!) Here's the cure, an Australian youtube series introducing you to the finer points of minerals you now appreciate much more keenly as an adult! Love the channel name

17.01.2022 Some of the new skeletal window quartz from Pakistan received from last week added to the store. Enjoy!

17.01.2022 A nice haul I’ve just dispatched to a very lucky customer! Some very special pieces in there (kudos to the perceptiveness to see past a couple of rather ordinary photos that did not do justice!) #cloudriverminerals #instamineralcollection #instaminerals #instacrystals #mineralcollectors

15.01.2022 Ahh, my favourite time of year. The Mineral Cup is on again (on Twitter). Today the battle is between Uranintite and Fluorite!

15.01.2022 I do love lapis - and this book by Sarah Searight is a fascinating exploration of lapis through history and across cultures. Perfect time to revisit now I've listed some of those polished beauties from Badakhshan.

14.01.2022 For those missing their mineral tourism fix (shows, museums etc), here's a visit to the Alpine Mineral Museum in Seedorf, Switzerland https://mineralexpert.org//alpine-mineral-museum-seedorf-s

13.01.2022 I listed a few extra amethysts on request the other day, and I would have to say this piece from Alacam, Turkey reminds me of nothing more than a banksia man!

13.01.2022 It's been a long couple of weeks but the store is open again... Just in time for the weekend... https://www.ebay.com.au/str/cloudriverminerals?_sop=1

12.01.2022 A few examples of those polished lapis pieces from Badakhshan, Afghanistan. Prices range from $36 to $125, the more expensive pieces coming with free display stands.

08.01.2022 Here's a treat for the weekend! Explore 2,242 illustrations from James Sowerby’s compendium of knowledge about mineralogy in Great Britain and beyond, drawn 18021817 and arranged by colour. Fascinating!

06.01.2022 More colour - you know how I love malachite on a Monday, and this is a special piece! https://www.ebay.com.au//Botryoidal-Malachite/233373330394

06.01.2022 That sort of Monday! Where's the pub?

05.01.2022 Spectacular sunset, Utah.

05.01.2022 Brightening Monday with a splash of colour I think I've shared something similar before, but not with such a cute dog! Have a nice week.

04.01.2022 Time for a spot of armchair #geotravel - if you're up to it!

04.01.2022 How do you like your kyanite blades? Simple or complicated? All needs catered for with these specimens from Brazil!

04.01.2022 Giant quartz cluster from Madagascar, unpacked only two years after moving to our new home!

02.01.2022 Ready for 2020 to be over already?

02.01.2022 I know I've been slack with the new listings (and I have so much good stuff to share once I get my act together)! Anyway, one of my regulars has provoked me into listing some new Rogerleys. There's some super high quality specimens, but this little sweetie with contrasting aragonite has really won my heart

02.01.2022 Channeling The Count, but what else can you do on 9/9? https://tinyurl.com/Sep9Mine

01.01.2022 Of course it's overprocessed, but I still love it!
