23.01.2022 |The Great Air Race| In 1919, Captain Ross Smith won the race to become the first aviator to fly from England to Australia in under 30 days. Recent upgrades to Darwin’s heritage listed Ross Smith Memorial help people understand the significance of what the memorial represents. The timeline of the voyage is interpreted in the new pathway, with plane motifs representing stopping points such as Cairo, Delhi and Sourabaya.... @ntgovernment @aila_nt

19.01.2022 Another important step of the Great River Walk in Penrith, with spectacular views of the Nepean River set against the backdrop of the Blue Mountains. The Great River walk vision links the river's headwaters at Lake Bathurst near Goulburn to the mouth of the river at Broken Bay - a distance of 570km.

17.01.2022 Manigurr-ma village sits just outside of Darwin - the landscape works were undertaken by CLOUTON back in 2013. Initially designed as workers accommodation, the site has recently had to adapt to a coronavirus quarantine facility. In a strange twist of circumstances, our Darwin director Tony Cox is now in 2 weeks quarantine at the facility after returning from NSW. Ever the optimist, Tony reflects on the landscape from his quarantine room. The original story at Manigurr-ma... was about getting out and about exercising, walking and creating a community. Darwin is a tropical city that embraces the outdoors. Clearly none of this is possible in quarantine, but you definitely get that visual connection to the landscape from your verandah. The plants are going gangbusters, despite zero irrigation. The area is highly susceptible to mosquitos so we had to carefully consider drainage and water management. We had to make sure rain reached the plants without surface water lingering. The fact that the vegetation is thriving means we must have got that right. Chalk art from some of the kids in quarantine is a colourful reminder of that vital connection we all have to nature.

13.01.2022 |Respite| Today’s site visit to Palmerston Hospital was a good chance to see our landscape taking shape. The entry is designed as a calming approach to balance the hustle and bustle of hospital life. Internal courtyards add another healing layer.
