17.01.2022 Throughout this week at Clovel we have been celebrating NAIDOC week. A celebration held across Australia each year observing the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. During this week we have been engaging our children in various art and craft activities, creating flags, painting rocks and drawings of traditional dream time stories. Providing the children with these experiences allows them to develop their understanding and empathy skills by responding to diversity with respect.

15.01.2022 A moment of silence As we remember those who fought for us in the War. At Clovel, we teach the children the meaning behind the symbolism of Remembrance Day. The red poppy was one of the first plants to grow on the battlefields of France and Belgium. Wearing a sprig of rosemary represents remembrance and loyalty. This plant grows wild on the Gallipoli peninsula, serving as another reminder of the ANZAC troops who lost their lives there. Lest we forget.

08.01.2022 At Clovel we have an in depth preschool program where the children learn how to read and sound out words with the help of I Love Reading and First Readers. The children begin to understand key literacy concepts and processes such as the sounds of language, letter-sound relationships, concepts of print and the way that texts are structured as they read the books with their educators. We believe that this assists the children to give them a head start prior to starting kindergarten and formal schooling, boosting their confidence. We also believe that when children learn to read at an early age they expand their vocabulary and become more fluent readers. They have improved attention spans and better concentration. We aim to instil a lifetime love of reading in our children.
