22.01.2022 Such an amazing day was had by all during todays Athletics Carnival. It was wonderful seeing so many students participating in each of todays events. The outstanding sportsmanship on display today was only rivalled by the sheer effort and challenge put in by our Clover kids. Thank you to all of our amazing staff for making today a reality. Whether officiating on the day, setting up the venue, providing administration support, supporting students or in the planning stages, all staff contributions combine to result in a wonderful event for our students to experience. Thank you to our community for adhering to the current restrictions, we missed having there cheering and understand how difficult it was for you to miss an event such as this. Congratulations Koala House for scraping into the top position of todays carnival.

10.01.2022 Online hate impacts the mental health of all involved, and children and young people have been exposed to increasing levels this year thanks to the ongoing impa...cts of COVID-19. A recent study by San Francisco-based software company L1ght analysed millions of websites, popular teen chat sites and gaming sites, and found children were exposed to much higher levels of online hate during the pandemic than before it. The study found: a 70% increase in hate between children and teens during online chats a 40% increase in toxicity among young gamers using gaming chat Witnessing online hate that’s any hateful posts about a person or group based on their race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability or gender normalises it, meaning kids can become less sensitive to hateful language and may lead to empathy for others being replaced with contempt. While you can’t stop online hate, you can help your kids to recognise it and let them know how they can take action if they experience it or see it. Teach your kids to notice over-simplicity and its use as a put down strategy (e.g. boys are superior, girls are side-kicks) Make sure your kids know how to report it whether it is directed to them or they see it targeting others and how to block the user Teach them to be aware of how anonymity makes some people feel free to use hostility Let them know that having someone's back online, or being willing to support and defend them, can have a huge impact.
