16.01.2022 The families and staff of Community Living Project are deeply saddened on the loss this week of Olive Weston, an indomitable, visionary and fearless family leader who helped establish our organisation in 1984. We thank Olive for her leadership and her commitment to ensuring that people with disability living in the southern region of Adelaide have access to a good life in their local community. Our love and condolences go to Steven and Olive's family, and thank you Katrine Hildyard MP for your support and friendship to Olive, Steven and CLP over many, many years. https://www.facebook.com/KatrineHildyardForReynell/posts/3592231777505049

13.01.2022 Do you appreciate classic cars or have an interest in collecting things? Do you enjoy travel and other cultures? I am looking for the right person to assist me for approximately 15 hours per week to pursue my interests and be a role model for developing my social connections near my home at Old Reynella. Workday tasks will relate to facilitating my role as an Electronic Recycling Australia employee and supporting me in managing my home. My love of collecting things is importa...nt to me and I want to be supported in doing this in a safe and productive manner. I have a great sense of humour and am master of the one liner. I am inquisitive and have an interest in learning about different countries. I’d like to plan a holiday to New Zealand. I enjoy a wide range of music, YouTube videos (often about cars), and binging TV series. You will be patient, have strong social skills and an appreciation for the complexity of human behaviour, be organised, practical, reliable, motivating and enthusiastic. As a Key Worker you will work closely with my family to coach and mentor my support team in line with my vision for a good life. You will have good availability for shifts across a 7-day week and be comfortable starting some shifts at 6:30am. Ongoing training and direction will be provided. All applicants must have a valid Drivers’ Licence, a road worthy vehicle suitable for work purposes and have or be prepared to undertake a Current Senior First Aid Certificate, and Disability Services Employment Clearance. If you think you could be a good fit for this role, please get in touch and tell us more about yourself. Image credit: John W via Flickr

10.01.2022 Great work, Ben!
10.01.2022 One of the biggest barriers we find families face when planning for their future is having people in their life who can provide supports to their loved one when... they are gone. It might be needing someone to be a trustee of a Trust or an Executor of a Will or just having someone to pop over and have regular coffees with your family member or take them on an annual holiday. But of course, as lawyers we do not come up with the people, we just draft the documents! Community Living Project Inc. is a leading organisation in South Australia that provides assistance to families to develop those networks. The last coffee I (Nat) had pre-COVID, was with the Manager of their Circles of Support initiative and I noted to her these enormous barriers faced by families. But to what I thought was a really tough problem, she seamlessly presented a workable solution that has been available to families for ages! At EQL, we love to share resources that help our people work through the many different complexities that living with a disability can present. So if you have not heard of Circles of Support and want to know more - details are below! (Note: EQL and Community Living Project Inc. are not affiliated and this post is provided for general information only. Make sure you choose what suits you, based on your circumstances}. #EQL #disabilitycommunity #futureplanning #disabilityrights #estates
10.01.2022 Are you an active person with a positive approach to life, have experience with tutoring or encouraging others who are exploring new creative skills? Do you have the flexibility to fit in a couple of hours each week on an ongoing basis so that we can set goals and work towards them? Ideally I would like three different people to walk alongside me to achieve my aspirations. You might be a young adult like me who is doing related studies or exploring similar passions. The three areas I am searching mentoring for include: guidance with exploring exercise activities in my local area, brainstorming and editing with university assignments in Community Services and building my motor skills when engaging with art mediums. If you think you could be a good fit for these roles, please get in touch and tell us more about yourself.
08.01.2022 Personal Assistant (PA) required on a part-time basis to help me set up, maintain, and expand my small home-based Odd Jobs Micro-Enterprise based in Klemzig. The PA role will initially be 10 hours a week split over two days (to be determined) with the possibility of expanding to additional hours in the future. Some experience in odd jobs work, basic business administration and marketing skills would be advantage.... So, if you are fit, easy going with a good sense of humour, and have the willingness to gently coach and encourage me in learning new skills I am eager to hear from you. Applicants must have a current driver’s license and vehicle suitable for carrying light maintenance equipment to use for work purposes. https://communitylivingproject.org.au/personal-assistant-od
06.01.2022 Are you a mature, enthusiastic support worker with knowledge/experience in using PODD or augmentative communication? Are you passionate about nature, animals and embracing someone’s gifts and talents to enrich a good life? Are you a positive person who will do what it takes to get to know and appreciate the person you are working with? I am a woman in my 30s and live with my parents in Underdale. After moving from rural Victoria I am ready to explore my new surroundings with... someone who matches my interests, and would embrace my life vision. My parents are by my side to establish roles and guide, train and direct my support team. I use PODD to communicate and it is important to have people around me who can recognise and enhance the things that are important to me. This role requires flexibility and availability to work over a 24 hour, 7 day schedule. It is a casual position with the opportunity of 25-30 hours a week once we have established trust and a rhythm of working together. My day to day tasks are guided by my vision, goals and dreams for my life. If you think you could be a good fit for this role, please get in touch and tell us more about yourself.

03.01.2022 The CLP Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday evening, with many members joining via Zoom. The Annual Report was tabled (and described as a book for your coffee table for its great photos and stories). You can read online via the link below.
