25.01.2022 The fence has come down!!!! People can now enter the new Cameron Park playground!!! The early feedback from local kids Audrey and Lincoln is that the playground... is a winner. Councillor David Grant and Wellington Business Chamber president Jessica Gough were also here to check it out.
24.01.2022 Phew! I think this was the last barrier to closing the gap wasnt it?
24.01.2022 The Greens and their allies hate the police. They have an extreme agenda and the major parties must force them to remain at the fringes of politics in our community. https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au//bcf5a2fa957569a60d20dee

23.01.2022 One of the dumbest traffic pedestrian designs is about to be fixed! Who can remember a few years back when the old Dubbo City Council installed those speed bump...s behind Orana Mall (in front of Orana Gardens)? Thankfully, Greg Mohr, the local ward councillor for that area has fought the good fight and convinced the RMS and traffic engineers to rip out the speed bumps and install proper pedestrian lights. It has been sheer madness that the old folks at Orana Gardens have had to dodge traffic in order to access the mall. In my mind the speed bumps made the road even more dangerous because drivers were distracted by the humps, potentially not seeing people trying to cross. Work will take a few months - so take care when in the area. Well done Greg Mohr!
23.01.2022 I just listened to the final U.S. presidential debate. I was listening to a pragmatic doer vs a career politician with vague attempts at sounding like a statesman. Less politicians in politics can only be a good thing.
22.01.2022 River Repair Bus future secure Gumley Dubbos well regarded River Repair Bus has been given a lifeline in funding from Dubbo Regional Council, thanks to a $40...,000 funding agreement. The funding would ensure the fantastic work from staff and volunteers would be able to continue, according to Councillor Dayne Gumley and he said that was why he had made it a priority to ensure Council provided the essential support. Im over the moon that the River Repair Bus will continue to operate while at the same time working collaboratively with the Council to achieve real and practical outcomes with our river, Councillor Gumley said. Im a keen believer in practical environmental solutions where residents can see real results. There are so many environmental programs that are taxpayer-funded but it can be hard to see if these programs are having a positive effect. However in the case of the River Repair Bus, genuine outcomes are there to be seen and appreciated by everyone. Some of the achievements of the River Repair Bus in recent years include planting and maintaining trees, rubbish clean-up and erosion control, all essential to the health of the Macquarie River. Locals have also indicated that they value the bus because it has a very large volunteer contingent, Councillor Gumley said. Its an incredible feat for this organisation to be not only directly helping our environment, but also assisting the community by providing a great social outlet. This organisation brings together skilled professionals and those who are looking for valuable work experience to make our region a better place. Councillor Gumley said the current Council was focused on measures that would benefit the community for the long-term. Along with Councils new Gross Pollutant Traps that will soon be constructed, Im very proud of the fact that Council is getting on with the job of improving our river. It is a fantastic asset for the Dubbo Region, Councillor Gumley said. See more

20.01.2022 This Council got it done. The attitude I took on this project was get on board or get out of the way. Early on in this term I formed the view that there were unecessary hold-ups delaying the development. I was even cautioned on my style of questioning after being blunt with senior council staff. Most got on board but some ended up getting out of the way. It turns out that cross examination can be useful outside the court room too.
18.01.2022 Good to see our community slowly returning to some sense of normality.
16.01.2022 This is a project I just couldnt let fold. Im proud to have spearheaded the push for Council to keep the bus working. https://www.facebook.com/155232024558500/posts/3071339019614438/

You turn up day after day in the most trying of circumstances and expect no recognition. 13.01.2022 THE EPITOME OF FRUSTRATION. The current design of the River Street Bridge Project has the potential to cruel residential development in the north and northwest of Dubbo. Development which will be highly sought after into the future.
13.01.2022 How lucky we are to have such a beautiful facility. The water is great and the grounds are perfect to spend the day in. Parents have picked a perfect location for their daughter's birthday party today.
12.01.2022 SAVE THE DATE: 4/9/21 This morning Ive announced that the local government elections will be held on Saturday, 4 September 2021. It follows the decision to... postpone the September 2020 council elections for 12 months because of the COVID-19 pandemic, as requested by the NSW Electoral Commissioner. Local government elections are a vital part of the democratic process and ensure local councils are accountable to their local communities. I look forward to every elector having their say on September 4 next year!
12.01.2022 Yet Lefties continue to sing Chinas praises and lecture conservatives about hysteria.
12.01.2022 WAHROONGA PARK, DUBBO IMPROVEMENTS COMPLETE Dubbo Regional Council has completed improvement works to Dubbos popular Wahroonga Park in time for the school holi...days. The project included the extension of the existing child cycle track, construction of two new accessible BBQ shelter facilities, a new drinking fountain, installation of an accessible path system that connects the play space, BBQ shelters, parking and amenities. Mayor of the Dubbo Region, Councillor Ben Shields, said he was happy to hear the improvements to the park were completed just in time for the July school holidays. I am so pleased that our community will have yet another play space to enjoy during the school holidays. I am particularly proud of Councils efforts insofar as the design considerations for the improvement project; ensuring the inclusiveness of the entire space for adults and children of all abilities, said Councillor Shields. Last year I tabled a Playground Improvement Fund as a Mayoral Minute to invest $1 million dollars to install more shade and improve access to playgrounds across our region. The new accessible path and park infrastructure are an example of this initiative delivering on its objectives, said Councillor Shields. Project Co-ordinator and DRCs Open Space Co-ordinator, Ben Pilon, says the new additions will complement the recent playground renewal. Last year we renewed the entire Wahroonga Park play space while retaining the very popular existing childrens cycle track. The request to extend the cycle track came from extensive and positive feedback by the local community and Council are pleased to see that completed. The accessible furniture, pathways, BBQs and drinking fountain make Wahroonga Park one of the most inclusive outdoor spaces in Dubbo, which is fantastic, said Mr Pilon. The project also includes a strong focus on new drought hardy landscaping - a Council initiative to save water across DRCs open space assets, as well as a bright mural on a utility structure painted by a local artist and local work experience students.
12.01.2022 More money pissed up against a wall. When will we learn that just throwing money at the same old initiatives doesnt work? https://www.facebook.com/57886636727/posts/10157453896641728/
11.01.2022 Did you know Dubbo has got the best livestock market in NSW? Now its even better. Great to be with Councillor Etheridge today for the opening of the truck was...h at the Dubbo Regional Livestock Market. This $1.6 million piece of critical infrastructure will keep our livestock transport industry moving and ensure biosecurity is up to standard. This is another fantastic result for Dubbo.

11.01.2022 FINALLY... the section of the Mitchell Highway between Wheelers Lane and Sheraton road will be dual lane all the way. This is a good outcome for motorists who use this busy section of road, especially during peak times.
11.01.2022 A female nominated by a conservative president being sworn in by an African American Justice. Except this time it's not just about ticking boxes. Conservatives don't waste energy on identity politics, we just get the job done as it needs to be done.
10.01.2022 Dreaming of a beach holiday? Maybe you know some people on the north coast looking for a tree-change? Dubbo Regional Council is working on something spec...ial with Ballina Shire Council and FlyPelican! With an announcement from the QLD Government that it will be closing its borders to NSW, and the ongoing effects of COVID-19, Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is looking at ways to capitalise on the momentum of the holiday at home sentiment, and ensure the Dubbo region continues to be a thriving destination for travel, particularly within NSW. Following a confidential report to its July meeting, Councils Airport Advisory Panel committed to a partnered trial of a new flight route between Dubbo and Ballina (Byron Bay) to help stimulate the regional economy and increase access to domestic markets. 09.01.2022 Australia owes its modern history to the Monarchy and many of our proud traditions flow from it. Celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II birthday this long weekend!
08.01.2022 This happened before people took to the streets with their sweeping generalisations of racist police.
07.01.2022 WHAT A RESULT! $9 MILLION dollars saved by this council since 2017. It speaks to the culture of the organisation and the strategic direction of the current council.
06.01.2022 Theres a backlog of work to be done in Wellington but Council is chipping away at it.

03.01.2022 COUNCIL TO LOBBY NSW GOVERNMENT FOR NEW HOME FOR MACQUARIE CONSERVATORIUM Mayor of the Dubbo Region Ben Shields will write to the NSW Education Minister to requ...est assistance be provided to Macquarie Conservatorium to find a new home in 2023. The valuable community organisation, which provides music education programs to more than 1000 people across the region annually, has been leasing the former Dubbo Infants School on the corner of Bultje and Darling Street from the NSW Department of Education since 2003. However the Conservatorium board was informed in mid-2019 that their lease would not be extended and they would have to vacate the building. Councillor Shields tabled a Mayoral Minute at Mondays Ordinary meeting of Council, asking Council to seek the support of Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders in advocating for the Conservatorium, and to write to NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell expressing concern for the future of the Conservatorium and requesting assistance to find a new location. Councillor Shields said it was unthinkable that such an important organisation would be left homeless. The Macquarie Conservatorium offers music tuition on a par with what you would find in a capital city. For more than 30 years they have been providing education to thousands of students of all ages, Councillor Shields said. Now they face the potential of being without a building and unable to continue their operations. I hope the government wouldnt let that occur. Councillor Shields said with just over two years before their lease runs out, now was the time for efforts to begin to find a new home for the Conservatorium. It is a matter of urgency that an alternative location is found. The Conservatorium needs specialised facilities and cant just be put anywhere, Councillor Shields said. Whether an existing building can be found that meets the needs and can be repurposed, or a custom facility is needed, time is ticking and it cant be left any longer.
03.01.2022 Always look inward first. Society has created a culture where some of us expect someone else, usually the government or one of its departments, to fix all of our problems. Worse still, some of us expect someone else to take the blame for the state of their own lives. Government is not the answer to your problems. You are. https://www.facebook.com/drjordanpeterson/videos/705960176497052/
02.01.2022 The radical Left at work. I support law and order, I support our police from top to bottom and I support their continued presence in our community. Sadly though not every Councillor on Dubbo Regional Council shares the same sentiment towards our valuable officers.... http://dlvr.it/RYCPFF
