21.01.2022 My two year term as Mayor of this great city has come to an end. Attached is my Mayoral Retrospective, as presented to council last night. It has been a privilege to lead the City through these unprecedented times and I thank the community for their support. I wish all the best to incoming Mayor, Karen McKeown and Deputy Mayor, Tricia Hitchen.
19.01.2022 The Penrith City of the future is taking shape. This is a generational game changer.
16.01.2022 Great afternoon at the new playground at Ridge Park on ADELAIDE St at Oxley Park. This is part of Council’s Good Neighbour Program which is all about making new connections and getting to know people in your community. Congratulations to all involved in this great initiative.
14.01.2022 Find yourself 5 minutes, grab a seat and check out the latest in Penrith’s brilliant future. Penrith needs local jobs and a stronger local economy, when complete this project will provide 4,000 local jobs and add $500 Million per year, to the local economy. Even more impressive is the short term benefit, 14,000 jobs and $2 Billion in economic activity per year, during construction.... 09.01.2022 WE WILL REMEMBER THEM This year, in unprecedented times, ANZAC services are unable to go ahead as planned. City of Penrith RSL sub-Branch and St Marys RSL Sub Branch will be holding their services very differently this year and while we cannot attend in person, we can still participate from our homes, in the following two events: 1) Penrith’s service is being hosted by Vintage FM (88.0 FM) through a 20-minute Dawn Service broadcast between 5.40am and 6am, with residents able ...to reflect from home listening to the radio. 2) St Marys sub-branch is inviting the community to participate in their service by standing in their driveways at 6.00am on ANZAC Day and by going to the Facebook page to listen to a poem, standing respectfully for the Last Post and joining in the singing of the National Anthem. Despite our distance from war zones, past and present, Penrith has experienced the tragic reality of war. Many of our residents served in WW1, WW2, Korea, and Vietnam, and in recent years two Australians from Penrith lost their lives while serving in Afghanistan. Few of us have ever experienced what it is like to risk ourselves and loved ones to the dangers of war, these however are unfortunately the memories for some of the older generations of Australians. The ANZACs were courageous and although the Gallipoli military objective failed, the Australian and New Zealand actions during the campaign left us all a powerful legacy. COVID-19 will not weaken that legacy. LEST WE FORGET
