25.01.2022 On Monday morning Councillor Jordan Lane and I requisitioned an Extra-ordinary meeting of Ryde Council be called to debate the 63 storey towers proposal by Meriton. That’s right, the 63 Storey monster is back! We want to make certain that your Ryde Council stops taking cash donations from property developers who want to build residential towers above the LEP zoning. ... Help us to persuade the dominant Labor / Greens voting block on Council to overturn their support for this proposal and to stop Council from receiving cash from property developers in their Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) negotiations. I will keep you posted when the meeting date will be. Please come and address the Council meeting and send a powerful message to Labor / Greens and to the Meriton Group about this proposal.

24.01.2022 Here is a brief interview with our local radio station, 2RRR and the award winning AFR journalist Angus Grigg about the latest controversy to hit Ryde Council.

23.01.2022 Lest we Forget!

22.01.2022 Nominations are closing tomorrow for the Northern Districts Business Awards. You can support your favourite local business and have them recognised in our community. I look forward to congratulating the winners at the Gala ceremony in November 2020. Be quick and vote today!

21.01.2022 All winter sporting codes will benefit from Council’s decision to waive the ground hire charges this year. There were a few beneficiaries from the local football and rugby clubs keen to join us this afternoon and celebrate the fee relief. The decision was prolonged after the Labor / Greens Councillors voted against the original proposal in May and then held out against it again at the June meeting. Eventually common sense prevailed and another strong policy initiative to support our community in these difficult times was secured.

19.01.2022 Merry Christmas!

19.01.2022 Happy Australia Day! The Ryde citizenship ceremony is always one of the most enjoyable events I undertake as one of your Councillor's and the Australia Day ceremony is the highlight of the year. Congratulations to our 2020 award winners;... Ryde Citizen of the Year- Maurice Dawson, Young Citizen of the Year - Cosmin Luca, Special Commendation - Lorraine Carter. I was also delighted that the 2019 Ryde Citizen of the Year, Mr Hassib Elias was appointed with a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia in the General Division for his 50 years of community work in Ryde and with the Palestinian Association of Australia. Congratulations Hassib!

17.01.2022 Well, I made it. However I am a little bit sore! 5 km run / walk and plenty of money raised for the Westmead Children’s Hospital. Congratulations to Matthew Reid the organiser of the 2nd Terry Fox Fun Run at Meadowbank.

17.01.2022 Today is Legacy Badge Day. Normally you would find people selling badges at railway stations and shopping centres, however this year the fundraising effort is entirely online. You can make a donation at the website www.legacyweek.com.au... If you would like to purchase merchandise you can do that by visiting the Legacy Shop at www.legacyshop.com.au and purchasing their badges, bears, pens and other items that support the fundraising effort of Legacy in Australia.

12.01.2022 For the last few years I have supported the local Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. We receive donations via collections in shopping centres, trivia night, golf day and the big weekend of doorknocking. This year the Salvo's have replaced these activities with a Digital Doorknock. Please give generously via the online app. https://digitaldoorknock.salvationarmy.org.au/trenton-brown

11.01.2022 It has been a bad week for our Labor Mayor. On Tuesday he cancelled our July meeting because two (and then all six) of his Labor colleagues couldn't attend and now he is dancing around in the Mayoral robes for another publicity stunt. I shared my thoughts this morning with Ben Fordham on the ongoing embarrassment that is the Mayor of Ryde Council. The clock is ticking for the next election - September 2021.... 10.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS: MELROSE PARK TATTOO PARLOUR APPROVED Under the City of Ryde's broken planning laws, a tattoo parlour has been approved in suburban Melrose Park. These laws were due to be updated by 1 July this year, but Council failed to meet the deadline. The tattoo parlour was fought on the basis of old laws, where the developer has an advantage. ... There is now more pressure than ever for these broken planning laws to be fixed. I am committed to delivering significant planning reform so that future development is strategic, transparent and in accordance with community wishes. If you support reform, let Council know: www.tinyurl.com/BanCashDeals

09.01.2022 I attended the Creativity Unleashed event earlier today. There were many wonderful cultural performances on show. It is great to see this open space being activated after Council re-developed the under utilised Plaza.
