Practising with cheap Bunnings rope is fine but to put on your horse, good quality rope is always best.

03.01.2022 A BIT ABOUT KNOTS there are two types of knots that are seen on halters, one is preferred, the other is knot The blood knot once tightened is a very secure very balanced knot meaning that it carries even weight on both sides from where the rope enters, through to where it exits.... The granny knot is a basic overhand loop knot that leaves the balance of the halter in jeopardy and is not correctly secure. The danger lies when the granny knot is used for the tie loops under the horses chin - THIS KNOT CAN SLIP!!! A correctly tied and tightened fiador knot distributes weight correctly and evenly through all four entry and exit points. Safe and happy horsing
