25.01.2022 Hi All, Another beautiful Sunday Morning. The Sun shining down on us all and the pool a great temperature. The championship Freestyle and Breastroke started the day and the starts were all clean and there was some great racing. ... Thank you to all timekeepers and Judges and especially Pat on the recording desk for such a big workload. Many of the championship ages and groups are still open for the taking, so dont leave anything behind in the tank in next weeks 66s We welcome the Tooher family back after a few years absence, and we had Abigail take on the across the pool along with Alexander, John, and Nina. Well done to you all. The brace relays were kept with family groups winning. Louise and Elsie with (0.81), Arthur and Mathew (0.56) and Vincent and Augustine with (2.13). The brace relays are always so unpredictable. The 66s points score are still open for all and the competition was intense. Patrick took out the first, and the judges couldnt split the next with a triple dead heat of Oscar, Skyla and Lily. Gerard easily won the next in a great swim, and John in heat 4. Ann Maree and Anita could not be split in heat 5, with Delany in heat 6 and Andrew finishing off very strong in the last. The relay went to lucky lane 3, with Andrew as captain. Well supported by Jonathon, Lauren, Jack, Lily, Mary and finished off by Emma. Well done! It was great to hear of the stories of so many children doing well at School swimming carnivals and that our Sunday club is helping them to become better and more confident swimmers. Next week we have another Trophy event. It is the 4 x Team relay (carded times). Please put together your family and friends grouping and the current 33 card time will be used to set the team time. I look forward to seeing you all again. Keep an eye on the clubs facebook members page for some great photos and also newly found movie star Funnies of the day. What did the left eye say to the right eye? Between us, something smells! What do you get when you cross a vampire and a snowman? Frost bite! See you all next week. Yours in swimming Brett Mc

20.01.2022 CLUB ASHFIELD SWIMMING CLUB CAPTAINS REPORT - WEEK 12 Hi All ,... Another fun week with a full swimming race card. The Pool was very warm again, approaching 30 degrees, and it was nicer to be in than out . Very well done to Ruby for advancing to the 33metres this week. Congrats also to Jack Mc in a closely fought second sub junior final. The Junior point score is getting crowded at the top, with wins going to Vincent, Verity, Hollie and Harry in the sprints. In the seniors, Connie, Rachael, Jonathan and Richard all improved on their trophy positions in the point scores with great wins. I really love seeing everyone put such great efforts into the Medley. Four full heats brought out the best in everyone, from young Pat having his first go, to the determination of Gerard, and everyone else through to the fast paced Taylor boys. The Medley is a joy to watch (but not much fun getting lapped by a 10 year old who does his club PB by 28 seconds). When young Jack Taylor makes the Olympic Team, I can always say I was in front of him at the dive. Anita, Jack, Adam and Will were well deserved Medley winners, but everyone should be very proud of the efforts. Gerard C, Connor, Jack M, Brian, Cameron and Brett Marturia all grabbed the Brace relay points on offer and the relay points scores are close across the Club. The 66m, saw a huge win by Tom, with Ann Maree , Andrew , Gerard and Richard sneaking in for the ice creams in 5 full heats. We finished the day with another early lane win with lucky lane 3 taking home the win, with Adam as captain and Warwick, Conor, Rachael, John, Augustine, Isabel and Joelle. CLUB and AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS start this weekend with Breaststroke and Backstroke. There is no Handicapping or point score for these events. Everyone starts from the go. I look forward to seeing you all again. Yours in Swimming Brett McDonald NEXT SWIM 21 JAN CHAMPIONSHIPS BREASTSTROKE and BACKSTROKE. 16.01.2022 Hi All, Another beautiful Sunday Morning. The pool at 26 degrees again and perfect conditions for racing and having fun with friends and family.... Tara and Emily made the across pool easily and even made return laps to start the morning. Patrick and Matthew were the quickest of the Sub-Juniors 33's and were kicking very strong down the lanes. Oscar, Cameron and Andrew made light work of the Junior sprints , and in the Seniors we could not split Roslyn and Mary in the first heat. Andrew T and Adam also finished too strong in the final sprints. Breastroke fields were very large including a full heat of time trials which is great to see the new swimmers having a go. Matthew, Skyla, Taj, Gerard C, and Andrew M, were all too quick for the rest of us in the main race card. The Brace races had Adam and Aaron team up for a win, and that was followed by Anita and Luke with a 0.32 difference getting the ice creams. The 66s were well fought out to the finish with Ashton, Anita and Augustine finishing the strongest. *Remembrance Day* As the clock approached 11am on 11/11 to mark 100 years since the end of WWI , the full club paused and reflected together in silence while the reveille played on the bugle. It fills me with great pride of our club to see the respect shown, especially by all our young members. Thank you. Lest we Forget The racing continued with the seasons first 100's . Luke E and Peter came out on top, and I was a long way back. The relay finished up a great day , with lucky lane 7 and Brett, Gerard C, Elsie, Louise, Delaney, Vincent and Patrick getting the win. We continue to have different families win the raffle each week, so I am sure your turn will be next. Yours in Swimming. Brett Mc

16.01.2022 Captains Swimming report 2/12/18 Hi All, Another great Sunday Morning. The pool was a warm 26 degrees and lovely and clear. The across the pool swimmers are improving each week. Ice-creams went to Johnny, Alexander and Mia. Well Done.... Some very good PBs in the 33s Sub Juniors with Emma and Jack Mc coming out in front. In the Junior sprints, Delaney, Gerard C, and Owen came out best, and in the seniors, Lara, Anita and Richard had the best of the swims. I am always impressed with everyone who competes in the Medley, you will not find a bigger heart than Gerard D, who put in a huge effort. He was In front with a lap to go, but the youngsters soon put on a big finish in the first Medley with Jack Mc coming over the top. The fields sizes allowed for 2 more medley races and Andrew M, and Brian held off the exhausted competition. The Team Brace relays showed consistent timing wins, with Andrew and Lara in the first heat, Matthew and Arthur S in the second and Anita and Brett M in the third. The 66s were very fast this week, with Jack Mc, Mary M, Skyla and Richard with great swims. The final relay was one of the closest finishes we have seen again. Lewis captained the Lucky lane 4. With Gerard C, Brian, John, Delaney, Lara and a fantastic finish by Vincent to hold the other lanes out. The excitement in the Raffle was evident with the first of the season sensational Double smoked Christmas hams going to Brett M and family. It sounded like it would be gobbled down before the end of the day. If you would like to Purchase a Christmas half or full ham from our Butcher shop or other Xmas meats, please do not hesitate to send me a message or see me at club and I will look after all the club members and friends. If your work is considering gifts to staff , please do not hesitate to give me a call also and I can arrange bulk orders and deliveries. Great to see you all again, and for any school children or adults who have first aid , CPR or Bronze Medallion Certificates, If you could bring a copy down for our records. I cant forget the joke of the week: will make up for missing one last week. Did you know? If you overcook alphabet spaghetti it could spell disaster. Did you know? If you cook hyena meat with oxo cubes you will make yourself a laughing stock. Yours in Swimming, Brett Mc 0418208470 [email protected]

15.01.2022 Hi All, A little overcast early on , but the sun shone through at the start of racing for another great day on Sunday Morning. The pool was a pleasant 25 degrees. ... We welcome the Salas family to the club and hope you enjoyed yourselves and look forward to seeing you again. Tara and Emily both swam the across the pool really well, and then we had a full heat of sub junior time trials. Mathew and Jerome won early heats, and then Vincent, Lewis and Finley came home the best in the Juniors. Gerard glided home to just sneak in the first of the seniors and then Brian and Anita dominated the other heats. Backstroke was the order of the day, and we had 4 full heats. Matthew, Conor, Isabel and Elsie all beat their times with great wins and it was great to see everyone going straight down the lanes. Rachael and Lily combined best in the first Brace race, Austin and Lewis took out the second heat and then Louise and Conor were most consistent in the final brace relay. The distance two laps had a few new winners with Austin, Brett, Elsie and Louise coming home the best. Ice creams were plentiful around the club with a deadheat finish in the relays. Lucky lanes 2 and 4 could not be seperated. L2 captained by Andrew with David , Lauren, Delaney, Skyla, Timothy, Vincent and Arthur coming home strong. They were matched with L4 captained by Conor with Brett, Brian, Anita, Lily , Gerard and Matthew holding on for the team. 13.01.2022 CLUB ASHFIELD SWIMMING CLUB CAPTAINS REPORT - WEEK 15 Hi All,... After the heavens opened up on Saturday night and early Sunday with a well needed downpour, I was a little concerned that we might not get underway. As always, the Sun shone through early and we had a fantastic morning. The pool was a little colder at 22 degrees, but we started a large program of races in good time. Nina, Braxton and Ruby started off the day with across the Pool, and then we commenced the Freestyle and Butterfly sprint championships. It is such a difficult task judging the winners and many thanks to Patricia, Peter and all the timekeepers in recording and starting so many times and all of those watches. Big thanks also to Bob in the starts and Don in marshalling and making the day run so smoothly. With one week left in the 66mt championships, the competition has been fantastic with everyone competing in the right spirit. Thank you to everyone. I look forward to finding out all the age and club champions at the end of the season. Points score continued in the relays and 66s with a some very close times. Tanisha and Andrew T combined again for brace wins, along with Skyla and Jack Mc, with the final brace coming in 0.25 of a second with Mark and Louise winning the ice creams. The 66s had Patrick, Rachael, Jack, Luke, Warwick recording wins and the Taylor boys dead heating in the last event. The races all gave glimpses into who might be favourites in the championships next week. The end relay was my favourite race of the day because it was my first relay win of the whole season. A huge 11 member relay team in lucky lane 3, captained by Andrew M, with Peter, Brett, Mark, Elsie, Jack, Linda , Beth, Gerard, Isabel and finished off magnificently by Vincent all were happy ice cream winners. I hope all children had an enjoyable week back at School, and I look forward to seeing you again next week. If there are any perpetual trophies remaining at home, please bring them back into Club next week. Thank you to everyone joining our Facebook page and the likes this week. If you would like to add something, please do not hesitate to see me. Funny of the week - Supplied by Jack, as we were searching for the eclipse during the week. Across the pool was well supported, Grace, Johnny , Holly, Nina, Alexander, Michael, and Matilda all swimming great for well deserved ice creams . The sprints had Emily, Lauren, Joelle, Aaron. Andrew , Maree and Mark all swimming the best for the wins. ... The Medley came on next with 2 full fields and I am always impressed with the efforts everyone puts in for the 4 laps. Patrick and Brett Mc came out in front and were out of breath at the end. The Brace relays had the teams of Brian and Vincent , Lily with Skyla, and Brett M and Matt come in with the quickest to the times. The 66s saw Emily, Rebecca, Matthew, Augustine, Archie / Aaron (tie) and Chris put in excellent swims to get the ice creams. The Archie and Aaron finish was one of the best races i have seen all season. The relays were loaded with many, many swimmers across the club. 10 swimmers minimum across the lanes. Girl Power won the day, with Lucky Lane 2 coming home the best in a great team effort. Captained by Lauren and supported by Maree, Bridget, Grace, Anita, Lara, Joelle, Rebecca, Ann-Maree and Mary. 12.01.2022 CLUB ASHFIELD SWIMMING CLUB CAPTAINS REPORT - WEEK 13 Hi All,... A really nice Summers day, the pool was lovely and everyone wanted to stay in. Levi, Nina and Tahlia started the across the pool, before we broke into the Championships for the 2018/19 season. I congratulate the club for all fair starts through the day and the great spirit shown in both the backstroke and butterfly age and division finals. It was great to see the younger swimmers giving the strokes a really good go. To assist in the Championships, as early as possible could you let the club know if you are not swimming in an event. Whilst we got through Sunday Ok, it was demanding on the starters, timekeepers, judges and recording table to keep track of changes. Lets all work together to get our names in and ready to start. In the ice cream sprint events, we had Harriet, Timothy and Patrick come out on top in the Sub Juniors, Oscar and Will in the Juniors and Ann Maree, John G, Farrah and David with great quick swims. Well Done! The Brace relay saw lots of close combinations, Malachi and Aaron together, Brett and Brett, and Chris with Joelle in a 0.10 time , were all the best of the mini teams. The 66mt, had a lot of the fit crew stang up, and after a long day of championships and races the winners were, Archie, Farrah, Joelle, Andrew T, Warwick, Richard and then Campbell and Will dead head the last. The end relay was again a lot of fun, with lucky lane 2 , with Andrew M, Peter, Owen, Andrew T, Ann Maree, Linda , Vincent and Matthew holding off the other lanes. The nice weather saw the return of a few families and the lanes were full all day. Across the pool was well supported with Nina, Braxton, Emily, Tahlia , Tara, and Harriet all getting an ice cream. ... The sub Junior sprints were won by the A team it seems with Austin, Ashton, and Archie. The Juniors and seniors were very close with Vincent, Lewis, Chris, Anita, and Danielle coming home the quickest. Congratulations to all who did the Medley races, it is a demanding 4 laps. Taj, Danielle and Lewis came out on top and there were quite a few time trials as well. Jack Mc and Isabel teamed up for a .25 second Brace win, and the family combination of Luke and Linda E won the second Brace race. 09.01.2022 CLUB ASHFIELD SWIMMING CLUB CAPTAIN'S REPORT - WEEK 16 Hi All,... The age and Club championships wrapped up in fine style this week with the distance and duel laps. It was great to see two senior mens races and all of the club involved. Thankfully we didnt need a final after the two heats and the club champions will be announced at the end of the season. Braxton put a very good effort into the across the pool, and then the point scores continued for the rest of the day. The sub junior and junior sprints were very close. Emma, Tanisha , Beth, Cameron, Ethan and Gerard C with great wins. In the seniors, Gerard D had a great swim finishing in front and breaking his time. Don and Mary were also too good in their races as the front markers and the field could not pull them back. Well done.! Five full backstoke heats were completed with ice creams going to Ashton, Conor, Jack Mc, Adam and Andrew M. Mary also had a great backstroke time trial with the crowd cheering her on. The Brace relay had these teams win the ice creams. Oscar with Harry, Jack Mc with Isabel and Ethan and Mark. Well done.
