25.01.2022 With our Centenary fast approaching, we would appreciate if you have any photos (team photos, scorecards etc) or any stories, that you could share them with us! We are wanting to highlight the history behind the club and feel as though this would be a perfect way to show that. As always, we would appreciate if you could help spread the word about the event! It would be appreciated if you could RSVP to the event as well, so we have a rough idea of those attending.

12.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS TO CLUNES CRICKET ASSOCIATION ..... 100 not out! "The best of the best in the bush": by John McMahon It was 100 years ago that The Clunes Crick...et Association was born. I wonder if the founders realised that some 100 years on they would have produced arguably the most Number of talented cricketers of any country association in New South Wales. A 92 year old dairy farmer from the Clunes region, Hugh Gallagher , wrote a book Clunes to Caribbean setting out a remarkable history of the CDCA and its 12 village clubs. It is a record of cricket played under tough conditions on dairy farm land with concrete wickets covered by coir matting. A few days ago I was fortunate enough to spend a few hours with Hugh, who is battling a serious illness . I was able to get his selection of a best ever Clunes association team. The team includes Sam Trimble, who toured the West Indies with Bob Simpsons Australian team and captained the Australian Touring team to New Zealand. The team is Lloyd Strong (captain), Sam Trimble, Ken Trimble, Charlie Crane, Sid Oliver, Vince McGuire, Robert Crane, Fred Gallagher, Athol Johnston, Warren Noble, Jim Armstrong, Pat Harris. Ten of the 12 now play their cricket on Elysian Fields, while Warren Noble and Robert Crane are the only surviving members. Crane enjoyed several successful seasons In the Queensland Sheffield Shield team as an off-spinning all-rounder, while Noble represented Northern NSW against England and made a fine half century. When the small associations outside of Lismore became unable to conduct a senior completion in the sixties Lismore association benefitted with an influx of top players mainly from Clunes. And the players keep on coming to the present day. * Souths gained Graeme Rose, Snow Rose , Warren Rose , Greg Rose , Ken Trimble, Jeff Walsh, Rex Parrish and Matthew Phelps. Workers Club got Roger Boyd, Don Allen, Kelly and Ted Everingham. * Easts picked up Peter Gow, George and Kevin Foster And the outstanding cricketing Gregory family While Wests signed Warren Noble and Bill Crane, and John and Philip Rose. * Norths gained Warwick OLiver and Brian Oliver. * Marist Brothers gained Lance Perry, who made 15 centuries for the club was a real asset. Tom and Ben Cooper also played for Marist Bothers and went on to play first class cricket, with Tom one of the most successful long serving players for South Australia. Ben is a regular in the Holland International squad. These are some of the best players to come out of the Clunes region. They helped to make the Lismore First Grade competition in the second half of the 20th century probably second to Newcastle in the standard of country cricket in NSW . All of these fellows, the older ones, were brought up playing cricket on a Cow paddock with coir matting, when you had to hit the ball in the air because of the long grass and cow dung. How amazing that when they transitioned to Lismore 1st grade that they were so successful on Lismore turf wickets. There will be more about many of these players on this page in future.............

08.01.2022 U16’s Taree Carnival Cancelled Please see below Good afternoon All,... due to the second wave of COVID 19 and the implementing of new restrictions we have decided to cancel the Stan Austin Carnival. While we are always excited to host this annual event, and welcome players from different regions in NSW and QLD to these carnivals, the decision to cancel this was not taken lightly. Player safety is paramount to us, as I am sure it is to everyone that participates, and we do not want to place anyone into a harmful situation. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused, but we wanted to give everyone an opportunity to cancel any bookings and make alternative plans should they wish to do so. We would like to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your ongoing support for the carnival and hope that we can see you when the next one is scheduled. We would also like to wish you and your families best wishes for a happy, safe and healthy festive season. Best regards Yvonne Nash Secretary Manning Junior Cricket Association

04.01.2022 Obviously the news over the past few days with the Covid outbreak on the Northern Beaches and the inter-State travel restrictions being imposed on the Greater S...ydney area have thrown our carnival plans into chaos. I have been monitoring the situation and discussing the updates with our local stakeholders to an get an idea on how to proceed. It is with much regret that I must announce that the carnival will be cancelled as the news and restrictions look grimmer and grimmer. The next major update from the Premier Berejiklian is due on Wednesday, but particularly given most of our teams need to confirm/change travel plans I believe it is better to make the decision now. This is not a decision that has been taken lightly. We understand the level of planning, commitment and expense it takes teams to organise to attend an event such as this, by volunteers and parents alike. The Carnival is also a major boost for our local economy in Lismore, something else we are disappointed in not providing for our local businesses. I am mostly disappointed for the players who are going to miss out on being part of a great week of cricket, but in the grand scheme of things there are more important issues at the moment. In finishing, I hope everyone gets through this next phase of the pandemic safely, and can only hope that things get better for everyone in 2021

02.01.2022 Unfortunately we have had to postpone the Centenary due to COVID. We hope everyone will be able to make it on the 24th of January 2021. Thank you for your understanding.
