25.01.2022 "While many people refer to their pets as their "fur babies" it is still relatively uncommon to see pets being pushed around in prams but according to some, that could be changing." ... AND IT'S ADORABLE, check out the photos in the article, peeps ... There are, as the article states, many different resons why your dog might benefit from being walked in a pram - some medical, some psychological. Have any readers out there ever used one? Would you consider doing so?

25.01.2022 We just want to confirm to all our Facebook friends that we are remaining OPEN as a prescribed essential service under the latest COVID Stage Four restrictions. However, we will be making some changes to how we operate, and we would ask everyone attending the clinic to please comply in the interests of everyone's safety. Importantly, you must now PHONE THE CLINIC on 9052 3200 from the car park upon arrival to gain access. We continue to ask that you only send ONE PERSON per ...appointment, unless special circumstances are granted. We continue to ask that you NOT attend the clinic if you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, or have been asked to self-isolate, and refrain from handling materials in the reception area unless intending to purchase. Contact-free "call and collect" remains available for all your food, medication or pet care needs, simply phone Clyde Vet on 9052 3200 and one of our staff will attend to your needs. We know it's a tough time for everyone out there in the community right now, and we remain here to help with your pets' health and behavioural needs throughout this lockdown and beyond. Stay safe, everyone - if we all do the right thing together, we can put this virus behind us!

24.01.2022 Hands up which of our readers have ever heard of a Pugalier??? No, not pugilist ... that's a (human) boxer. Allow us to explain ... "The pugalier is a hybrid of a pug and a cavalier king charles spaniel. They are bred to retain the basic features of a pug with a slightly longer nose in an attempt to reduce the breathing problems that pugs are notorious for."... And we had not one, but TWO of these adorable little pups in the clinic this week - that's Ricciardo and Hamilton right there (SOMEONE is clearly a big Formula 1 fan ...), who popped by for their first vaccination, and it was a dead heat in the race to charm the Clyde Vet nurses senseless. Aren't they just ADORABLE, Facebook?

23.01.2022 2020 was a year like no other, both for us AND our furry companions, and a year MOST of us would frankly prefer to be putting behind us. Our home lives, routines and rituals have all been shaken up the COVID-19 drama, and nobody has felt that more than our pets. At Clyde Vet, it's been our second full year in business, yet it seems like only yesterday we were cutting the ribbon on our brand new purpose-built clinic. We could not have made it here without your support, and ...Dr Irene, Albert and all the nurses at Clyde Veterinary Hospotal would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe, happy and prosperous new year and express our overwhelming thanks for all your support. Please note the clinic will be closed tomorrow, Jan 1, but returning to serve the pets of Casey as usual on Saturday morning. to everyone, from the team at Clyde Veterinary Hospital Happy New Year

21.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS: A pastel-coloured lIme green Puppy has been born to a litter of 5 in Italy! He's like a pistacchio gelati! If this isn't the cutest thing on your Facebook today, we'd like to see the cuter material in the comments, pls ...

21.01.2022 Just a quick note to let all our Facebook friends know the clinic will be CLOSED tomorrow Tuesday November 3 for the Melbourne Cup Day public holiday. Although this year is a Cup Day like no other, we hope that all our friends out there, furry or otherwise, find a way to enjoy the day and make the most of the day off. The team at Clyde Vet will be using the time for a quick re-charge to our batteries, and returning to serve you all first thing on Wednesday as per usual.... If you experience any sort of pet emergency tomorrow, please contact Casey Pet Emergency on 8790 1625

19.01.2022 Just a reminder to our readers that while we remain open as an essential service throughout the pandemic, we will be CLOSED all day this Friday for the Grand Final public holiday. While there's not a great deal happening here in Melbourne this year, it does give us cause to consider the context of how much these things EVER mean to our pets ... Have a great holiday everyone, we'll be back in the clinic as usual Saturday morning.

18.01.2022 For the love of DOG! That's right folks, today is August 26 - and the first ever International Dog Day that Victorian dogs have spent in lockdown, which makes celebrating more important than ever in 2020. Dog parents are encouraged to reach out to their furbabies today and give them a little special celebration, and for no better reason than simply being DOGS. Humanity's most constant and enduring animal companion, they have evolved in tandem with us. They know us better ...than any other animal species on earth, and we largely return the favour most days completely unspoken. Well today is the day to give that love a special voice. We'd love to see your pictures in the comments - what are YOU and your furry friends doing to celebrate this most auspicious of occasions?

18.01.2022 We'd like to take this opportunity to send out a quick Christmas word of thanks to all of our fabulous clients and your fur babies who have made serving the City of Casey such a joy for these past two years (can you believe it, we opened our doors in December 2018, which seems like a lifetime ago now!) YOU are what motivates us every day, and we cannot thank you enough for the support and love we've received from the community. THANKYOU FRIENDS! We'll just be taking a few days off during the holiday period. We'll be closing at 5pm today, and closed trough to the boxing day public holiday - returning to serve the pets of Casey again first thing Tuesday Dec 29. If you experience any emergency issues during tis time, please contact Casey Pet Emergency on 8790 1625.

14.01.2022 Clyde Veterinary Hospital pays tribute on this Remembrance Day to all our fallen soldiers, and the many, many animals who supported them in the field. LEST WE FORGET.

12.01.2022 Spring is here! But spring is also "Allergy Season" for our pets. Did you know allergies are far more common in dogs of all breeds and backgrounds than most owners imagine? So we thought it would be good to just quickly revisit Dr Mitry's blog on the topic, for a few pointers on identifying and treating allergic itches in our pets. Link below. And don't forget, it's not too late to take advantage of October Allergies Month - we are offering 10% off all skin and aller...gy consultations & treatments booked before October 31, to make it easy for you to get any worries seen to, before they turn into bigger problems. We’re also offering a huge: 20% off all medicated shampoos PLUS $20 off all Hills Derm Defense food (while stocks last) All October, all month long. Follow the link or phone the clinic directly on 9052 3200

11.01.2022 One of the upsides of COVID-19 has been the tremendous surge in new pet adoptions, meaning so many animals have found loving new homes this year. But its important that new dog and cat owners in particular know to have their new pets microchipped - it's the law in Victoria for dogs and cats by the time they are three months of age. And remember, the time after you first bring your new dog or cat home is when they are MOST likely to wind up lost, with their new neighbourho...od being scary and unfamiliar and their homing instincts not being fully developed. So if your new fur baby hasn't already been chipped, NOW is the time to consider having this very simple procedure - you don't want to be left regretting your delay. Take the example of this here young scamp - one of no fewer than SEVEN pups we had in the clinic for microchipping just yesterday, now fully chipped up and registered, if she ever winds up straying from home, one simple scan of a handheld device (which most shelters and rescue organisations own) and she can be reunited again with his owners in a matter of hours. For your own peace of mind, please GET THEM CHIPPED!

10.01.2022 Regular readers may recall late in 2020 we posted about the new phenomenon of PET STROLLERS and the many reasons why owners were using them to help their furry friends navigate the world beyond the comfort zone of their homes. Well, this week we got our first glimpse of this latest transport mode in the hospital, and we were thoroughly impressed at the style in which Bolli and Jin made their way on down to Selandra Rise. No cramped cat carriers or stuffy carboard boxes for... these two, nosiree! When Bolli and Jin travel, they do so with the same effective level of protection, but with all the comforts of their own familiar "home away from home", and a much smoother "ride" to boot. Obviously it's less of an option for St Bernard owners, but for owners of smaller dogs and even the largest cats it's definitely a viable option. And it makes the usually difficult process of transporting TWO cats at once an absolute BREEZE. What do you think Facebook pet parents? Is this the future of pet transportation? Would you consider a stroller for YOUR fur baby?

09.01.2022 It's HOT out there today, Facebook! So it's a good time for a quick reminder that you should NEVER leave a dog unattended in a vehicle, on a hot day, on a cold day, with the windows down or otherwise - simply NEVER leave your dog unattended in a vehicle. Owners have faced animal cruelty charges for doing this on hot days in particular, but even on a normal weather day, you don't realise how quickly the sun can heat a vehicle to dangerous levels, even with the windows down.... If you have your dog with you on an errand, your dog should go wherever you go - so plan ahead to make sure this is possible, and don't make changes to your plans that see them unattended in a vehicle at ANY time. It is simply NEVER worth this risk. Please help spread the message!

08.01.2022 It's been a while, Facebook friends, since we last celebrated Friday Furday, and we're DESPARATE to hear all about how your furry companions are preparing for the silly season. Any new Xmas/seasonal attire they may have received a little early? Any Xmas projects underway? Are you still working from home, and how are your fur babies coping with your constant presence? And we've seen plenty of dogs and lots of cats on past Friday Furdays, who can post a pucture of the mos...t exotic/unusual animal companion, and tell us how their Christmas preparations are shaping up? Drop a picture or a video in the comments, and let's hear all about their "COVID-normal" seasonal preparations ...

07.01.2022 So often, in veterinary medicine, it's the back room factors patients doesn't so much get to see first-hand which can largely determine the quality of your pet's veterinary care when it matters most. So, at Clyde Veterinary Hopspital, not only do we boast state-of-the-art backroom facilities, and gold standard 'cat-friendly' certification, but the most caring, talented and dedicated nursing team that Southeast Melbourne has ever seen. So when better than INTERNATIONAL VETERIN...ARY NURSES DAY to take a moment to express our gratitude to everyone on our unbeatable team at Clyde vet, all of whom have contributed so much to us in getting off the ground these past two years, and we Know you and your fur-children will all want to say thank-you also on this auspicious day, right friends ..... ??? Thankyou vet nurses everywhere, but thankyou especially to Nurses Brittney, Jess and Kirsten (in order L to R below with Dr Irene).

07.01.2022 As we head back into a snap lockdown, just a quick reminder that veterinary care is a prescribed ESSENTIAL SERVICE during the pandemic. Clyde Veterinary Hospital will remain open as usual (Closed Sunday), and here to serve you and your pets throughout lockdown.

05.01.2022 It's a Friday Furday like no other, as the Christmas that many in Melbourne feared would never come is here! Wishing all of our Facebook friends, furry and otherwise, the very happiest of the season - let's see those pictures in the comments - how have your furry companions been sharing in the festive cheer today? Let's see the costumes, the presents, the seasonal love in furriest form ...

04.01.2022 We're not just under a human lockdown, Melbourne. Our pets have been suffering too, experiencing changed regimes and in a some cases reduced opportunity for daily exercise. While veterinarians remain a prescribed essential service unde COVID-19, it's a much greyer line for a host of allied services such as dog grooming - which can in some cases perform a legitimate health function. The problem stems from the public perception - pet care has rarely been mentioned in any for...mal announcements. The peak industry body is now lobbying the State Government to clarify for any future crisis that animal welfare should be a formally prescribed essential service. What do readers think? Has your pet's routine changed significantly during COVID? Would pet parentd prefer to have more certainty around these issues in future.

04.01.2022 With all this working from home in 2020, our pets are more confused about the home-office boundary than ever before ... And so we wish everyone in the Clyde Vet community (human, furred or feathered) a happy and Labour-free Labour Day this coming Monday 8 March, and hope everyone gets the chance to take some well earned time out. We'll be taking a short break ourselves on Monday, and returning to serve the pets of Casey as usual from 8.30am on Tuesday the 9th.... In the event of a veterinary emergency while the clinic is closed, please contact Casey Pet Emergency on 8790 1625. Or book your next appointment at Clyde Vet securely online at https://clydevet.com.au/

04.01.2022 Say hello, Facebook to the adorable little monster that is "Cookie". And she's a "bite size" bundle of joy if ever there was one. This cute little face stopped by the clinic this week for her second round of vaccinations, and she managed to charm both Dr Nicky and Nurse Kirsten with her winning ways. We were pleased to send her on her way again with a clean bill of health, and newly shielded against some of the commonest nasties that life can throw in the way of a young pup.... Thanks for stopping by, Cookie! Please wish her all the best in her future endeavours, friends ...

03.01.2022 With another hot day on the cards today, there's no better time to consider some best practices for our furry friends on hot days, who cannot of course swap their coats for t-shirts like their human owners. Dogs and cats don't have sweat glands on the furry parts of their bodies, so they can't use sweating as a cooling tactic the way we do either. For this reason, shaving or heavily clipping them won't cool them down any better. Instead, making a few simple changes and pla...nning ahead can make all the difference, and we've outlined some of the best practices in this graphic to illustrate for you. The most common sign of heat stroke to watch for is excessive panting. Other symptoms may include signs of discomfort such as drooling, reddened gums, vomiting, diarrhea, mental dullness or loss of consciousness, uncoordinated movement, and collapse. Heat stroke can be fatal. If your pet exhibits any of these symptoms, try to remove them from the heat immediately and cool them down by spraying their fur with cool water if possible, but most urgently get them to your vet asap.

02.01.2022 Being overweight can be an important predictor of our pets' health later in life. And many owners are often not aware what a healthy weight even is for their fur babies, as genetics can play a huge role, and there is no "one size fits all" rule. So it was important for young Angus when he came by the Hospital this week to make sure that he's been abiding by his strict weight management diet. As you can see, Angus is a BIG CAT, but we're very pleased to report that the diet is taking effect, and Angus has been cutting back those calories quite effectively ... although it might be a little tricky to spot to the untrained eye ... Thanks for gracing us with your significant presence this week, Angus, congratulations on your dietary discipline, and we look forward to seeing the further gains you've made at your NEXT checkup.

01.01.2022 Well, if this isn't cuteness to just KNOCK YOUR SOX OFF ... Facebook, meet Sox! This adorable little scamp was in the clinic this week for his blood tests and vaccinations, and it's safe to say he was a HUGE hit with the nurses and Dr Irene. Here we see him bearing up to the needle like a much bigger man than his size suggests, and waiting round for his test results from our in-house pathology with truly zen-like calm.... Sox really was a joy to have in the clinic, so thanks Sox for stopping by, and we do look forward to seeing that smile again soon. Isn't he the CUTEST, Facebook?
