24.01.2022 Cricket is a summer sport and is therefore played at most times in fairly draining hot conditions. A rough checklist to assist cricketers that are at risk of dehydration. Leading up to game day - Aim for 3L of water on each of the 2 days prior to the game. - Sipping water slowly throughout the day, rather in big amounts helps you absorb it better.... - Use urine colour to check hydration status; Clear urine = good hydration & Yellow urine = dehydration. Game day - Upon waking have 1-2 glasses of water - Over the course of the morning aim to drink 4-6 glasses of fluid - Pre COOLING your body before play has been shown to be more effective in tolerance of the heat. - Try cold showers, ice baths, icy cold fluids, ice slushees, ice blocks, cold towels (wet and freeze them), socks or towels filled with ice for around the neck. During the game Look for all opportunities to ingest fluids at breaks in play - During play, a combination of water and electrolytes like Hydralyte / Shotz/ Gastrolyte is recommended if you are dehydrate, in extremely hot weather, or if you are a known heavy sweater, otherwise water is fine. - Look for every opportunity to cool down to reduce the perception of the heat - Use of ice baths/cool towels/icy neck wraps cooling fans. - If athlete shows signs of heat illness (exhaustion, cramps, dizziness or collapse) seek immediate medical support. Post game Rehydrate most effectively by sipping fluid rather than gulping large amounts at once. - Use ice baths or cold showers post-match to cool the body down and assist recovery. #CMCricketcoaching #cricket #summer #hydration

17.01.2022 Our Director of Coaching Emma Atkins and elite swimming coach Mel Marshall talked to Sport and Beyond for a feature that examines how #GreatCoaching is great fo...r business. The article details how businesses can leverage the skillsets of the internal talent they are sitting on within their staff. The pair demonstrate the full power of coaching and the coaching workforce, and give a host of examples of how the 1.5 million volunteer coaches in the UK can benefit businesses, and their local communities. Ultimately, says Emma, coaching is a leadership skill. So, while great leaders have great coaching skills, great coaches have leadership skills that any business would want. 16.01.2022 Development session The sweep is a cross-batted shot played to a delivery on or around leg stump behind square on the leg side. ... To keep balance, the batsman usually goes down on one knee on the back leg. The idea is to get as low as possible and roll the wrists when the bat makes contact with the ball. Remember- Everyone has their own effective version. ... #cmcricketcoaching #cricket #cricketcoaching #sweepshot #singing

14.01.2022 There is no quick fix. Hard work Everyone has the ability to work hard. The difference between someone mediocre and someone who has achieved cricket greatness is the determination and drive they put into what they do. Through hard work even the mediocre can achieve success. There is never any short cuts to success, but hard work complimented with the desire to achieve, determination, and always being motivated to get after your goal, it makes success becomes bigger. Hard work... only works as hard as you do, and the level of success reached will only be as high as an individuals work level. Patience Success is not an overnight type of deal. It takes months, years, and most of the time decades to become great at playing cricket. The biggest thing about becoming successful is that you have to be willing to put in the effort. You to have be willing to understand, there is no quick fix. It is a process to become successful club, state or international cricketer. It is important to take time in researching, reading, and simply learning. And don’t ever stop researching, reading, or learning. There is never a point to which you are too successful or know too much. There is always more to learn and become great at. It is going to take a lot of time to become successful, so fall in love with the process. Wake up with the drive every day to want to become successful, knowing you are getting just a little bit closer to becoming successful. Baby steps still move you forward! #CMCricketCoaching #hardworkpaysoffs #patienceisprogress #Cricket

08.01.2022 Participation in sports can create character, build character, and reveal character. Cricket helps an individual much more than in the physical aspects alone. It builds character, teaches and develops strategic thinking, analytical thinking, leadership skills, goal setting and risk taking, just to name a few. #CMCricketCoaching... #CricketCoaching #SchoolHolidays #PositiveExperiences See more
08.01.2022 Christmas present idea Clearing Boundaries, The Rise of Australian Women’s Cricket, produced by Churchill Press in partnership with the The Bradman Museum & International Cricket Hall of Fame, is the first ever coffee-table style book devoted to the women’s game and the most comprehensive history produced about it for almost 30 years. Launching the book, former Australian ODI captain, champion all-rounder and current TV cricket commentator Lisa Sthalekar said it was ti...mely to honour the contribution of generations of champion female athletes since the 1870s. "Up to 320,000 fans watch WBBL games and the T20 World Cup final earlier this year drew a TV audience of 1.2 million and a crowd of 86,000 to the MCG - so it's timely to have this new book celebrating the rise of women's cricket". Clearing Boundaries presents inspirational images and memorable moments from more than a century of the game. Available at bookstores Australia-wide and online and at www.bradman.com.au
