The Australian Pacing Championship was the second feature championship run on rotation around Australia (behind the major and everyone’s goal, the Inter Dominion) but sadly the APC is no longer conducted. Markovina was a classy pacer in the 1970’s, winning the 1978 Inter Dominion Grand Final in Melbourne. In 1979 he had a stint in Sydney under the care of Kevin Newman, who took the pacer to New Zealand for the 1979 Inter Dominion series at Addington, winning a heat and qualifying for the final (unplaced).
