In other words a pocket that gets hollowed out enabling the mortice lock to be inserted. Similar, a mortice and tenon joint is a term used in furniture construction enabling to join solidly two pieces of timber together. Sadly, nowadays, commercial biscuit jointers and Mortisers frequently takes its place, replacing the art of true craftsmanship. Mortice locks come in a variety of sizes and can be keyed either with a skeleton key or the more secure, door lock cylinder mortise locks, the modern type of interior door locks. Installation of exterior wood panel cladding using Western Red Cedar Cladding Timber. Every time All Creative Maintenance Solutions does a job, we somehow get to expect the unexpected. Our clients from Balgowlah asked us to replace their exterior wood panel cladding.... Upon inspection we found that most of the corners of this exterior wood cladding was quite severely damage from either wood rot or any sort of insects. On the day that we arrived and removing some of the wall cladding, we discovered some very-active and diligent Ants who have been happily munching out on the old wall cladding timber? So you can imagine they weren’t really too thrilled when we exposed their home to the outside world!! Luckily for our clients sake the damage was only superficial and mainly retained around the corners of the wall cladding. After removing the old silver wrap and inspecting the timber frame work we were all clear and good to go. For this particular house wall cladding we replaced the old boards with Western Red Cedar Cladding or also known as WR Cedar Featheredge Cladding. Western Red Cedar is naturally very stable, resistant to fungal and insect attack, there is no need for further preservative treatments so ideal for your next Wall Cladding Project, although it is quite tricky to mitre the corners, as you will need to work out your cutting mitre degree 2 ways. The Cedar Cladding Thickness tapers out from 18 mm to around 3-4mm. In general the 45 degree mitre was correct, although we had a variance between 4-8 degrees to allow for the Cedar Tapered Featheredge, which was solely dependent on how plumb and straight the main vertical corner stud stood upright for the Cedar Wall cladding to be attached to. The end of the day All Creative Maintenance Solutions with effort, great care and full attention to detail, produced some excellent results for our client from Balgowlah. TASK COMPLETED Removed old Wall Cladding Prep and Prime WR Cedar Wall Cladding back and front. Secure all corners with a Bostik High Tack Adhesive on 1 half of mitre the other half we used a paintable silicone that spilled out from the joint ensuring a beautiful clean finish.
