25.01.2022 Update from your P&C...... The year 2020 School Ball date has been set for 21st March. The ball will be held at MPAC and we will be looking for volunteers to help set up on the day, chaperone on the night and help with catering. The P&C will be catering a buffet style meal for the evening so no table service will be required, we would just appreciate a little help with prep on the day.... To keep the costs down and ensure we can continue to hold the ball each year for all students coming up through the ranks, we are requesting donations of the following ingredients... **Please go to Central Midlands Senior High School P&C ‘group’ for the list of ingredients we still need** Thanks in advance for your help....your P&C Committee.

24.01.2022 I know the situation around our public schools has been causing angst for parents, teachers, staff and students. I understand that it may be confusing, but we’...ve kept them open, consistent with the best medical advice at hand through the National Cabinet process. Today, as the pandemic situation moves forward, we move to the next step. Firstly, from Monday, March 30, we will now encourage parents to keep children at home if they can, and access the online learning resources we have made available. However, all children who do attend public schools will continue to be taught. Where parents need children to attend school to enable them to maintain employment, and for those children in vulnerable families, like children living with grandparents, they are encouraged to continue to attend school. Public schools will remain open from Monday, March 30 to Friday, April 3. In addition, formal classes will now finish at the end of Friday, April 3, one week earlier than planned. Teachers and education assistants will now use this time to plan and prepare for a new way of teaching from the start of Term 2, with work continuing through the school holidays. However, arrangements will be in place in schools to supervise children who need to attend school on the last four days prior to Easter, where parents require it to maintain their employment, or due to a personal situation. It is crucial for us to strike the right balance between keeping the community safe, allowing essential services to continue and provide a quality education to our students in this difficult time. I want to reassure parents that our schools are well prepared to continue to provide education for their children. Thank you to the parents and carers of Western Australian children for their understanding and support for school staff as we navigate our way together through this unprecedented situation. And thank you to our teachers, education assistants and all school staff for the essential work they do across our State. This is an incredibly difficult situation, thank you for your patience, and we will let you know about plans for Term 2 as soon as possible.

21.01.2022 **Country Week Update** Unfortunately we had notification late yesterday that School Country Week this year has been cancelled. At this stage it will not be rescheduled.... The majority of the fundraising we have done to date has been for new equipment and uniforms - this will still be organised and paid for by the P&C with these funds for next years students. Any money raised by year 12 students will go towards something specifically for them later in the year. The committee will decide how best to use the funds at our next meeting. Any money raised by year 10 and 11 students will be carried over for their Country Week costs in 2021. We have put a hold on any further fundraising at the moment until our next P&C meeting where we will replan around current circumstances. Thank you CMSHS P&C Committee

19.01.2022 **2020 School Ball Update** Sadly our school ball has become another casualty of COVID-19. The school and the P&C were advised a short time ago that we must cancel the ball for the foreseeable future.... The students were notified by the Principal and the circumstances explained. They have also been advised that if circumstances change before the Year 12 Graduation in October it will go ahead on or around the same date - we will do our very best to ensure they have the appropriate send off before the end of the school year. We apologise in the most part to the Year 12’s and their parents as they are the ones who have been impacted the most in the last week, unfortunately it is beyond the control of any of us at this stage. Those who have paid cash will have their ticket money refunded by cash and it will be available from the front office for collection by the students tomorrow. Those that have paid by EFT, we will have to refund via cheque - these will be available for collection from the front office on Friday. For those that have already dropped their food donations to the canteen, please let us know if you would like to collect them or whether you would like to leave them as a donation to the canteen and we will use them next week. If anyone has any questions or would like to discuss it further, please contact either the Principal, Trish Hewitt directly at the school or P&C President, Tracey Errington on 0439934299. Again, our sincerest apologies in what is an unfortunate situation for all and we would also like to thank those that had already put in so much time and effort into organising everything. Regards, The Committee CMSHS P&C

18.01.2022 The P&C are looking for volunteers to chaperone our 2020 School Ball on Saturday 21st March at MPAC. If you would like to volunteer for this job please contact P&C President on 0439934299. We require all volunteers to have the appropriate Working with Children checks in place for this event - it is an alcohol and drug free event which also extends to those over 18.

17.01.2022 A huge thank you to all of those who bought tickets in yesterday’s Money Tree Raffle. The response was outstanding and has gone a large way to providing new uniforms for our Indoor Cricket team and replacing the tired old uniforms for our Netball team. Congratulations to Clive Tonkin, the lucky winner.... Special thanks also to Moora Newsagency for the donation of scratchies for our Money Tree and of course Lions Club Moora and FoodWorks Moora for the venue to sell the tickets. We also can’t forget to thank our 2020 Head Girls, Adeline Chapman, Queen Ochoco and Jessica Chatterton for organising and manning the stall for us - thanks everyone! Keep your eye out for more fundraisers in the coming weeks to help send our teams to Country Week in July.

04.01.2022 DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION WA INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS REGARDING COVID-19 While the situation regarding the COVID-19 continues to evolve, the Department ...of Education sector has established plans and a team to support principals and schools. It is important that as a school community we apply common sense, factual information and a practical approach to COVID 19. If a WA school has to close due to a confirmed case, it will be on advice from the WA Health Department’s Chief Health Officer. The Chief Health Officer may, if there has been a positive COVID-19 test result in our school community, close our school temporarily while assessment and tracing of exposure is conducted. A thorough school clean will then be carried out to make the school safe for the return of students and staff. In this situation the principal will receive direct advice and support regarding the closure process and communication materials from the Department of Education’s Coronavirus support team. Upon the school being notified, all families will be immediately contacted and provided with the relevant information. This contact may be during the school day, or before or after school. It is therefore important that we have up-to-date contact details for your children, please notify the front office if these have changed. Parents will also be advised of the extent to which class work can be completed at home during this temporary closure and provided with the details of how this will work. While it is acknowledged that this may be a stressful time for the community, parents are reminded that schools open and close all of the time and that the reason for any school closure will be to ensure the safety of all students and staff. How to minimise the spread of COVID-19 Frequently washing your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or using an alcohol based hand gel Refraining from touching mouth and nose If coughing or sneezing, covering your nose and mouth with a paper tissue or flexed elbow Dispose of the tissue immediately after use and perform hand hygiene Avoiding close contact with anyone if you, or they, have a cold or flu-like symptoms (maintain a distance of at least 1 metre). Who cannot attend school advice as at 11 March 2020 Students or staff cannot attend school and need to self-quarantine if they have: a) left or transited through mainland China in the last 14 days, they must isolate themselves for 14 days from the date of leaving mainland China; b) left or transited through Iran on or after 1 March, they must isolate themselves for 14 days after leaving Iran; c) left or transited through the Republic of Korea, on or after 5 March, they must isolate themselves for 14 days after leaving the Republic of Korea; d) left or transited through Italy, on or after 11 March, they must isolate themselves for 14 days after leaving Italy. People who left or transited through Italy prior to 11 March, should monitor symptoms and seek medical attention should they feel unwell; and e) been informed by public health authorities that they have been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus, they must isolate themselves for 14 days after the date of last contact with the confirmed case. Students or staff who have been tested for COVID-19 should follow the advice of the Department of Health and stay away from school whilst awaiting results. COVID-19 symptoms People with COVID-19 may experience: fever; flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue; or shortness of breath. For the latest health information and health related enquiries please visit WA Department of Health or access the helpline 1800 020 080.

Should the worst case scenario eventuate and it is cancelled, we will roll over the funds raised to next year’s students. ... At this stage we will rethink a few of our strategies for raising funds as the situation changes so please continue to support our students wherever possible. Regards, CMSHS P&C
