18.01.2022 Make snacks smart and nutritious for your little one during the warmer months. Here are five summertime ideas to try at home! 1. Rainbow fruit kebabs. These vitamin-packed and colourful snacks are fun way to get kids to eat fruit. Dip them in yoghurt for an added calcium hit. 2. Qukes (baby cucumbers). Their smaller size means no chopping and no fuss. Eat as they are, or create fresh and crunchy creations. ... 3. Fruit pouches. There are times when you want to simplify snack times and fruit pouches come in handy. They’re easy and delicious for tiny tummies. Try freezing the pouch before serving to enjoy as a refreshing frozen treat on a hot summer afternoon. 4. Fruity froyo. We all scream for ice cream, gelato and other refreshing frozen treats, especially on sweltering summer’s day. But you can DIY at home by blending plain gut-loving Greek yoghurt with frozen mango, strawberries or pineapple. Pour the flavoured mixtures into ice cube trays then freeze for a couple of hours for a perfectly square refreshing treat. 5. Two-ingredient cookies. Sneak in some fibre-rich whole grains by mixing one cup rolled oats and one large mashed overripe banana and bake in the oven 25 minute (180C), or until slightly brown or firm on the outside, but soft on the inside.
