06.01.2022 CNCC is a supporter of the Aboriginal Artwork Middle Stump Initiative, which will feature on cricket pitches around the country during this weekend's Reconciliation Round. The Middle Stump Initiative is a new form of Acknowledgement of Country and a great way of encouraging Indigenous involvement in cricket. It's the brain child of Clint Dann, a Noongar man and former district grade player for Gosnells. It also serves as a reminder that the first ever Australian Cricket Tea...m to tour England back in 1868 was in fact an Aboriginal team. More about the Middle Stump Initiative is here: https://www.indigenous.gov.au/news-and/stories/middle-stump The photo shows our juniors president Simon Taskunas accepting the club's new Aboriginal Artwork Middle Stumps from Matthew Abrahamson, a Noongar man who also played district grade cricket for Gosnells. A set of these new Middle Stumps will be used at the club's home games at both Cresswell and Melvista during the Reconciliation Round. In addition, our senior and junior teams will be participating in barefoot circles before play starts during the Reconciliation Round.
