20.01.2022 Our NDIS participant Jeremy, having mastered baking his chocolate cake with frosting, decided it was time for a new challenge. His worker Kyleigh picked up the Coles magazine and gave it to Jeremy to browse through. He took this challenge to heart and next time Kyleigh arrived he had planned a new meal. He knew exactly what he needed from the shops in preparation to recreate his mum's famous chicken curry. Kyleigh reported Jeremy did all the work and she was merely his kitchen assistant. Jeremy requested she document the step by step process. As soon as the meal was ready he said "well aren't you going to take a picture of me"? Apparently, it smelt "delicious". 18.01.2022 #wearefamily is our motto... and here's another example! We could not let Eduardos 100th birthday go by without a celebration. Even though its not possible for him to attend our Social Group Activity centre, we wanted to bring the celebrations to him. Eduardos personality is larger than life.... so it was hard to condense all the memories we have of him into a small memory board.... We made a photo collage as a memento to celebrate the wonderful memories of the time he spent with us at Casa Serena. It was such a joy to see Eduardos face light up as he saw us walk in with the balloons and photo board. He spent most of the time looking and smiling at the photos and pointing out pictures. As we arrived his daughter Cecilia was so grateful and touched that she burst into tears. Once we left she send us a beautiful message to thank us for caring enough to take the time to see him and to celebrate his birthday. She was also so grateful for all the care and love that the Casa Serena team has have given to her father over the years. Helena Montegrande and Grace Pennisi Cannizzaro

13.01.2022 John reached out to Co.As.It. to improve his community access and engage in enjoyable social activities. Our care worker Sam took John out to Redcliffe for a fishing trip. John caught 2 fish! He declared himself "the champion of the day". Sam has experience fishing and was happy to share her passion with John. Fishing is now a shared interest. In the next few weeks Sam is going to teach John how to gut and cook the fish. John said it was "an incredible day out". As well as learning a new skill, he experienced areas of Brisbane he had not been before. #teachamantofish #wecareforNDIS #NDIS #coasitqld
