21.01.2022 Ankle mobility ( ankle dorsiflexion ) What is dorsiflexion? Well, it’s when the ankle goes through flexion in the dorsal, or upward direction. ... Why is this important? Dorsiflexion is important to for sound squatting mechanics, a good range of motion ( ROM ) in the ankle will allow you to sit your weight over the midfoot better, creating greater stability. stability leads to a safer position and increases force production, move more tin. There are many ways to skin this cat and different stretches work better for different people, I’ll be posting more options in the future. It's important to test your ankles ROM before you do the stretch and then retests after to see if you've improved. You can do this by setting a ruler up against a wall, next place your big toe at about 9cm and press your knee up to the wall, continue to move up the ruler until you can't keep your heel down. Congratulations that's your end range. Now do the stretch, 2 minutes of both side twice and then retest. Ladies Your goal is 11.5 I'm and fells you are looking for 12.5-13 cm. Want to squat better? Try increasing your ankle dorsiflexion.

15.01.2022 I GOT MY CROSSFIT LEVEL 1!! I've always been really attracted to Crossfit, the methodology keeps it interesting and I really believe in the deeper purpose behind CrossFit. There's something cool about a dusty shed covered in chalk, barbells and rigs that has a different air about it then everything else I've seen in the fitness industry. In my mind Crossfit comes with an attitude of competition and demand to improve on your efforts each work out! From what I know increasing ...effort is pretty important if you want to get better at anything. Anyways, I practised some aggressive action and booked a flight to Sydney to get my Crossfit level 1 @crossfit_fx a few weeks ago! And I just got the email telling me I passed the test! Yew! The course was great! It helped me get clear about how to approach my own training, how to give more as a coach and I got greater understanding of what Crossfit is really about. Plus I got a cool shirt! Seeing the professionalism of our coaches over the weekend and deepened my respect for their jobs and a career in fitness. I'm looking forward to getting more involved in Crossfit both from a professional standpoint but also an athlete. Exciting times ahead. What’s the next education you’re getting after? When have you booked it in for? Let me know in the comments
