16.01.2022 The strom season is upon us and this is timely information about Solar PV Safety from Ergon Energy. With many homes and businesses now with solar PV systems installed, it’s important to know how to keep safe should flying debris from severe storms or cyclones cause damage to your roof or solar PV system, or if floodwaters threaten to inundate your property. Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are connected to the normal power supply for use in homes and businesses. As solar PV s...ystems are powered by the sun, or any other source of light, they can continue to generate power from the solar modules up to the inverter even if the mains power has been disconnected. As a result, solar PV systems can pose an electrical safety risk for residents, emergency services personnel and Ergon Energy crews after storms and cyclones or in times of flooding. It is critical to remember solar modules and their cables should be treated as if they are live. - Information care of Ergon Energy- Check each state and country requirement, but there is some great safety information in below from Ergon Energy.
15.01.2022 Did you know? In the state of QLD starting from the 1st of July, 2020 the national workplace exposure standard for respirable crystalline silica has been halved from an eight hour time-weighted average airborne concentration of 0.1 milligrams per cubic metre (mg/m3) to 0.05 mg/m3 ! You must manage worker exposure to dust and meet your existing duties and obligations under Queensland work health and safety legislation.... To protect the health of your workers you must put measures in place that prevent workers breathing in silica dust.

12.01.2022 Would highly recommend those wanting to extend their learning in water damage of buildings to get on this. The RIA Building Science 2-day course provides students with in-depth study of different structural building components, their correct assembly, and the relationship between the systems and the intended use of the structure. The Building Science course is a prerequisite for RIA advanced designations. Topics include foundations, framing, roofing, floor and finish materia...ls, exterior finishes, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, damage investigation and more. The RIA Building Science course provides a comprehensive overview of the different types of constructions and how they interact together to make the structure behave like a system. Restoration professionals will use this understanding to engineer restoration protocols that will be effective and logical. https://convention.restorationindustry.org//pre-convention See more
10.01.2022 Well your time is NOW It has never been more important for you to have your say and sign this attached document. In May 2020, Australian and New Zealand cleaning and restoration industry stakeholders initiated communication with the IICRC leadership to commence the process of application to Australian Standards for the modified adoption of the ANSI/IICRC S500 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration and ANSI/IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mould Remediation.
10.01.2022 As carpet cleaners, rug cleaners and restorers you will be required to at one stage, to work with a rug. Maybe those involved in trauma scene remediation, have identified after inspection and determined the composition and condition of the rug, that the fine rug due to sentimental reasons requires remediation with a specialty company and should be removed from site. What form can you use to assist you in inspecting the rug? What form can you use to help protect you wh...en cleaning a rug? What inspection sheet can you use to write down what you see in regards to, pre-loss, white knots, stains, wear and tear? Well Coach8 has one that we have found works and works well. Send an email to [email protected] and we will get the full 2 page help sheet to you!! If your in the TSCT class you will get it also! We discuss contents in this class and we want you to help you, with your inspections and evaluations for restorability.

10.01.2022 Has everyone seen the letter from the IICRC today? It is a great announcement for the industry. As instructors, we had a meeting with the IICRC and told them your concerns and our concerns. The first thing we always hear is we want to be recognized as a trade. To be a trade recognized by governmental authorities a good place to start is to have the standards recognized by Standards Australia. So this is starting and we are thankful for the IICRC starting this communicat...ion for us here in Aus and NZ! The letter that was written to Suncorp is also attached. As you maybe aware, Suncorp are in the process of releasing a guideline that is on trial. We have to say, that the IICRC nor Coach8 had no imput in the writing of their new guideline. Many have asked us here at Coach8 if we were consulted when this was written and we were not. We are so thankful for the IICRC Leadership team for reaching out to a major insurance company for the restorers. "As we begin exploring this application process, we welcome the support and participation of Suncorp as a key stakeholder in the creation of standards through Standards Australia. Participation by materially interested parties is paramount to the successful creation of standards in Australia, New Zealand, and internationally." Michael Dakduk. This is only the beginning, but it is a great step forward in the right direction with the communication starting with Standards Australia.
