Keep your phone charger walking distance from your bed: Too often I hear people saying that they just can’t seem to get away from their device as they’re trying to get some sleep. More often than not, your phone is running out of battery so then you chuck it on charge so you can spend the next 4 hours flicking aimlessly through Facebook Market place looking for things you think you need - yes I’ve been there! By moving your phone charger to the other side of the room, it’ll force you to put it down sooner & also help get you out of bed when your alarm starts ringing It’s a simple trick & it’s worked very well for me!! 2. SLEEP in BED - BED is for SLEEP: This is a big one! How many of you eat/snack in bed? How many of you do your work in bed? Your BED is for SLEEPING & SLEEPING is to be done in your BED! Not the couch or beanbag, your BED! Once you’ve associated that bed = sleep, you’ll find it easier to stop thinking about those distractions and actually sleep.. 3. Make your room cold and dark: Picture your room right now: How many lights do you have on while you sleep? Be sure to include that little tv light or charging light? How about the lights coming through the blinds from outside? These lights effect you while you sleep so be sure to cut them out as best you can How about your room temperature? Try to keep this low (not freezing) or even try having a cold shower before you go to sleep! 15.01.2022 Patience is The last couple of weeks have been tough mentally more so than physically & a big factor is the last little bit of swelling in my knee just isn’t going away Maybe there’s another message & and it’s telling me to slow down One thing I have noticed is that my knee seems to be on fire, A LOT just touching it, I can feel the heat coming off of it which is why I have returned to ice & ice baths! Because it is so readily available (thanks to @ne_metrostars ...) 14.01.2022 Hydration Following in from breath, here are another 3 tips when it comes to hydration: 1. Hydrate first thing in the morning: Going hours without water can leave you feeling parched so why wouldn’t water be the first thing you go for just as you’ve woken up?! Spending 7-9 hours (hopefully) without water would leave anyone feeling a little thirsty so instead of reaching for breakfast juice or even an espresso, how about you grab a glass & slowly sip on some water as you p...repare for your day! I have a glass every morning with my joint vital & mushroom coffee thanks to @lifecykel 2. More is not necessarily better: Yes we want to drink as much water as we can but there comes a point where we can drink too much! A good way to tell you are drinking water too much water is by looking at your urine. We want there to be a little yellow tinge, not be crystal clear drinking too much water can also effect athletic performance! Mix it up: If you struggle to get water into your day because of taste, try a little variety. 12.01.2022 Diet/Nutrition Moving forward, we take a look at Diet/Nutrition. Now I would like to mention that I do not have any qualifications as a Nutritionist/Dietitian & this is the reason why in this post, I will NOT write about in depth details about what you should be eating & why, but more an approach to the choices you make regarding food & nutrition 1. Think nutrition, not DIET: ... What does this actually mean...? Well, firstly ask yourself what your relationship with food is like. Are you eating things that promote health & wellness? Are you eating things due to religious, cultural or ethical beliefs? Or are you eating foods that are detrimental to your health? What’s important, regardless of your relationship with food is to get curious about what you’re eating, when & why! Are you eating whole foods with minimal ingredients or junk foods? Can you name & do you know every ingredient that’s in why you’re eating? They are simple questions but vital to your health 2. Will power does not exist: No matter how hard you try to be strong & not eat crappy foods that are in front of you, more often then not you’ll fail. It isn’t because you don’t have enough will power though, we are genetically made this way! One tip that will definitely help with eating healthier is to evaluate your pantry & use the stop light process (=good = okay = not so good) Don’t judge yourself, just evaluate what’s in the pantry then make a conscious effort to fill that pantry up with as much as you can and limit the +. 3. Slow down & eat mindfully: Slow down as you eat. Actually chew your food, rather than scoffing it down like you’re gasping for air! As you eat, be mindful of what you’re eating and what takes longer to eat. Junk foods are designed to get into you as quick as possible (chips & lollies) where as whole foods generally take longer to eat! Nutrition has become saturated with diets & fads! Mobility = Longevity: ... Mobility is strength & flexibility coupled together. Some of the time, those who are incredibly strong, are quite stiff & rigid & when taken to an unfamiliar place in their Range Of Motion, they either can’t get there or injury occurs On the flip side, those who have fantastic flexibility only have access to a limited amount of strength through their entire ROM & when asked to perform exercises requiring strength, their body is unable to handle it One particular exercise practitioner I would highly recommend following is @hunterfitness he has some fantastic exercises!
