25.01.2022 I was watching a documentary where a nine year old girl was leaving a refugee camp with her parents to go to a European country, Her aunt didn't get approval to leave the camp and said to the girl "be happy." The girl replied, " how can I be happy when you are here. I see lots of unhappy people who do not feel any pleasure because they feel guilty even if they havent done anything wrong. We all feel unhappy or grieve however if it goes on and on, energy is depleted, physical and mental health is impacted negatively. " I wish I let myself be happier" is the the 5th Top Regret at the end of life. Together we can all help friends by listening. Encourage them to see a doctor first to make sure there are no hormone imbalances, leaky gut or other health conditions affecting their mood. Encourage them to talk to a trusted person.

24.01.2022 I went back to nursing work in April (not on the front line) and realised there are a lot of people who are not on the news who do marrvellous work. For example cleaners everywhere incluing buses, trains, bus shelters and group homes. I applaud the aged and disability care support workers who provide personal care for people in their homes, do their shopping and cook for them. Having a relative in a nursing home whe...re residents tested positive to COVID-19 made me realise how distressed staff are not only for themselves and their families but they really love and hurt for their residents and clients. I am deeply grateful to all aged, disability and health and community care workers. Is there anyone you are especially grateful for during this pandemic? Spread Gratitude! See more

24.01.2022 Cheering our Victorian care workers on, especially those working in nursing homes.

23.01.2022 You heard many times that love, compassion and care increases immunity. However many people think its a soft skill and fluffy and say give me some science about it. Did you know that when you stay angry or frustrated, cortisol (stress hormone) is released and it takes 12 hours to leave your body, ageing your body and face. 5mins of anger reduces your Iga antibodies in your saliva (first line of defense). Then it can take five hours to get you back to your baseline.... Just 5 mins of care (love, kindness, appreciation, gratitude or doing something special for someone) increases your Iga (antibodies) and stays high for up to 5 hours. The more compassion, love and kindness you have, more DHEA (youthful) hormone is pushed through your body. Now which of you doesn't want to look younger and have high immunity? Hers a challenge. Next time someone irritates and frustrates you, ask yourself: "Do I want to look younger and have high immunity?" then respond. Love to you all. Ruth

17.01.2022 You can still social distance and not hide from yourself and life. Mindfulness is a great way to de-stress. Here is a brilliant post from Marlane Ainsworth, Mindfulness Practioner.

16.01.2022 Our hearts are continually reaching out to each other. This video shows how to live in harmony.

14.01.2022 Tell kids so they can feel happy more often.

14.01.2022 Friendship gives us a sense of belonging and feeling loved. It reduces stress, gets us unstuck and lets us be silly and happy. This is probably why losing touch with friends is the 4th top regret of people at the end of life.

11.01.2022 Stay in peace. It’s healthy.

10.01.2022 The Rise of the Human Spirit is in the air.

09.01.2022 Ten years ago, I told my friend that I was overwhelmed, stressed out, and finding it hard to cope. I was shocked when she said, "what you need is courage". She reminded me that I had come through many bad experiences, and I was courageous. I did feel stronger inside, which helped me rise again. Neuroscience research shows fear creates suffering because people feel they have no control. A little courage quickly builds on itself, increasing well being and the perception they can handle what they have to. Thee is so much uncertainty and worry in our community, and it has been relentless this year. Give courage! It helps. .

08.01.2022 I was behind a woman in a Chemist shop. She became very agitated when the Pharmacist told her she could not have more than a month’s supply of medication to maintain stocks during the Pandemic. She turned to me, saying "what will happen if get sick?" I asked "do you have enough medication? She stopped; you could see she was asking herself that question. Then she said, "I have enough!" All it took was one thought change, and her face changed from distress to relief. She walked out of the shop, smiling.

08.01.2022 Seeing too many people burn out . Self care is not selfish.

03.01.2022 I passed by a friend, I hadn't seen for a long time, and we stopped to have a brief chat. She said she had a medical check-up, and the doctor told her she doesn't have depression, but she couldnt stop feeling unhappy. I asked her when were you happy last? I could see she was thinking, after a very long pause, she said 7 years! It suddenly hit her that was 7 years of her life. Before she moved on, she smiled and said thanks. "I needed to hear that I have been focusing... on unhappiness." I smiled too as I remembered a friend who got me unstuck and helped me turn my life and career around. I followed up with my friend. She said she was feeling gond and was still using the FLIP technique below, which rewires the brain. If we FLIP, the word unhappy to happy or the opposite of any other depleting emotion that is troubling. It will result in a shift to the opposite emotion and a new perception that brings out our best. Currently, we have very high levels of depression and anxiety in our country.. Encourage people to seek medical care to see if there is an underlying health condition or reach out to a crisis phone line like LIFE LINE 131114 or online chat at Beyondblue.org.au or equivalent in your country. If you have your own strategy that you know that can help someone reset, have peace of mind or get them unstuck, drop a comment below. This will increase the number of strategies that help. There is no better time to build resilience and promote mental health TOGETHER in our work place, church (don't forget the youth) or community group.

03.01.2022 Celebrate the one who loves you.

02.01.2022 Mental health is part of life, and we need to nurture mental health early in life, just like physical health. One way mental health practitioners, kindergartens and schools do this is by teaching children self-regulating skills (how to calm themselves down when they are anxious or stressed. If you would like to learn a FREE quick and easy self-regulating skill to teach young children or just to reduce your own stress response, message me I will send it to you.

02.01.2022 Be grateful,! Stay grateful it really does reduce a lot of stress.
