25.01.2022 The brazenness of this assault from the gas industry has taken many in the energy sector by surprise. They say, however, that this is no accident, for the plan is sophisticated and premeditated, even if the circumstances government fiat under the pretext of Covid-19 are opportunistic.

24.01.2022 Here in South West Victoria, we know what it feels like to go up against the gas industry. From 2011 to 2016, people came together to fight the fossil fuel industry’s plans to frack in some of the most productive farming regions in the country. AND WE WON!! Today, Victoria is the only state where fracking is banned. We’re proud of what we achieved three years ago, but we know the fight against gas is bigger than just fracking. Thats why we have put together a solidarity message for all those people joining actions today to #FundOurFutureNotGas!

23.01.2022 Breaking News: Vic Gov to lift moratorium on conventional onshore gas drilling. (Fracking still banned) Official statement below. What on earth are they playing at?!

22.01.2022 The true climate impact of new onshore gas exploration and extraction has been underestimated by as much as seven times because the Victorian government excluded emissions produced when the gas is burnt.

21.01.2022 These sessions for Gippsland start today (online) please register to make it clear conventional onshore gas drilling is not welcome here. These proposed exploration areas cover a huge area of Gippsland and Western Vic. Note: The ban on fracking & unconventional onshore gas mining is still in place.

19.01.2022 Working with regional communities, we helped win the moratorium on onshore gas drilling in VIC back in 2012. Sadly, today, the Victorian Gov will vote to open the state up to onshore gas drilling. https://melbournefoe.org.au/coal_and_gas

19.01.2022 Gippsland resident Tracey Anton said she was "furious", and called for the government to be called out. I have spoken to a few farmers and we are all confused as to when the so-called survey was in Gippsland ... and attitudes to it," she said. "When did it happen, who did the survey, how many and where? Full article here: http://www.gippslandtimes.com.au//moratorium-is-lifted-f/

18.01.2022 It's hard to believe that it has been 4 years since Victoria officially banned fracking & unconventional gas! But for all of those involved in making this happen, we will never forget the hard fight be fought, the friendships and unlikely alliances we made, the tears, the laughter and of course the win! People power won the ban on fracking, thank you to all of you that made this happen, you rock!

18.01.2022 On this day in 2017, the Fracking Ban Bill passed through the Upper House of the Victorian Parliament and VIC became the first state to permanently ban the use of fracking to access gas. After a strong community campaign, the Andrews government listened to the community and enacted the ban. We need them to listen again and #ExtendtheMoratorium on onshore gas drilling. 18.01.2022 SNAP (DIGITAL) RALLY: Can you believe Premier Dan Andrews is trying to sneak through an expansion of Vic’s fossil fuel industry in the middle of the current health crisis? Communities fought long and hard for the onshore #VicGasBan, and now we are rallying (in digital form) to say #NotHappyDan 1. Go to Treasury Place on your smart phone... 2. Check in 3. Upload a selfie for the post tagging Dan Andrews and using #NotHappyDan and #VicGasBan 4. Tell your friends Better instructions on how to join the rally>> melbournefoe.org.au/snap_action_fossil_fuels_vic Due to the COVID-19 health emergency we are not holding public rallies - join us in this digital experiment! Social distancing does not mean the end of social movements!

14.01.2022 Queensland’s newest and most ‘modern’ coal-fired generators have ranked amongst some of Australia’s least reliable in a new assessment that raises yet more questions around the judgement of the Morrison government, which is pushing for a new coal plant in Queensland’s north.

13.01.2022 Let’s be very clear Dan Andrews Your decision to lift the moratorium is not supported by communities in Western Vic and Gippsland, is not supported by farmers and will be fought every step of the way!

11.01.2022 This is not what our rural communities want! #nothappydan

10.01.2022 Happy 10th Birthday Lock the Gate! Awesome video, so glad we were apart of it!

10.01.2022 Rather than drill new fracking wells into prime farmland, the quickest, cleanest and most economically efficient way to boost the supply of gas in Australia is to stop wasting it.

10.01.2022 An oldie but a goodie, gave me goosebumps watching this again!

09.01.2022 Community Win: Victoria’s Fracking Ban Enshrined in the Constitution today! Find out more here:

09.01.2022 We're counting down to EOFY with 10 reasons to donate to FoE! #5 - WE’LL KEEP BANGING ON ABOUT RENEWABLES! The Victorian government’s recent vote to lift the mo...ratorium on conventional onshore gas is a huge blow to anyone concerned for the future. We’re disappointed, but we’re not surprised - and we’ll continue to campaign for renewable energy on a state and federal level. DONATE TODAY: www.melbournefoe.org.au/donate

08.01.2022 A leaked presentation on the report from the Morrison Government’s hand-picked National Covid-19 Coordination Commission (NCCC) has been released today. As expected, it pushes the idea of a 'gas led' economic recovery. Using public money to support a dirty fossil fuel is a backward step which will hurt the climate, local communities and the economy. The recommendations from the controversial NCCC, a handpicked body stacked with gas and fossil fuel executives, should be reject...ed. The Morrison government should instead invest in clean energies of the future, with renewables the cheapest form of new energy, best able to create jobs. Please join us in saying NO to a gas led recovery > https://www.foe.org.au/notogas

07.01.2022 He urged the state government to invest in recycled materials such as crushed glass and concrete, rather than extracting resources from the ground. "Just digging a hole is an easy and lazy response," he said.

06.01.2022 The policy Morrison is gesturing towards is not about setting up a rapid-fire transition to low-emissions energy and low-emissions manufacturing. Who could object to that transition? But Morrison’s plan isn’t that, it is about locking in gas for another 30 years.

05.01.2022 MORATORIUM ON ONSHORE GAS DRILLING HAS BEEN LIFTED IN VICTORIA Fracking is out ‘for good’, conventional on-shore gas drilling is in. Premier Dan Andrews has an...nounced new legislation will lift the moratorium on gas exploration and production, while a second bill will bolster the ban on fracking and coal seam gas exploration in the Victorian Constitution. South Gippsland beef farmer Fergus O’Connor says the timing of the announcement while we’re in a state of emergency is sneaky. Most of the water that we have is underground and once you start drilling it becomes very dangerous. We’re in a very unstable part of the country with many earthquakes and tremors once you start mixing that with drilling rigs it’s just not going to work. It could absolutely wreck the agricultural land here. We have some of the best agricultural land in Australia. We just cannot afford to jeopardise that.

04.01.2022 This article is nearly 12 months old but still very relevant as the Federal Government continue to support destructive coal seam gas over renewables.

04.01.2022 "We have no more time to twiddle our collective thumbs. The bad news is that the long delay in tackling climate change means that some severe impacts, like the fires we’re seeing now, are no longer avoidable and we must begin the process of adapting to them. We must, at the same time, accelerate the complete elimination of fossil-fuel combustion to slow the rate of future climate changes and prevent even worse, potentially catastrophic impacts from occurring"
