25.01.2022 We love our pickled walnuts on a good old cheese platter but they're also a simple way to add a flavour boost to a wide variety of dishes. Here's a great recipe from delicious. Australia.
22.01.2022 Ready for the guests at the SeedLab Tasmania launch this evening. The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens (RTBG) make a stunning venue!
21.01.2022 Roast pumpkin and walnut risotto hits the spot when it's freezing outside and only comfort food will do!
21.01.2022 At Coaldale Walnuts, we're working towards being more sustainable all the time. Here are some of the things we've done so far to make our business more environmentally-friendly.
21.01.2022 Thanks Salamanca Fresh for sharing our story - from our Sydney city beginnings to our Tassie tree change. We’re right where we want to be and we love bringing everyone the best tasting walnuts around!
20.01.2022 Green walnuts will be ready in the next few weeks! Check out our webpage for more info on how to order (or to find out what on earth you do with a green walnut!).
19.01.2022 Baby walnuts in the orchard! The pairs of sticky leaves on top are where the pollen sticks as it flies through the orchard and commences fertilisation. The walnuts start out the size of a match head when fertilised. These ones in the photo are now about 1cm in diametre.
19.01.2022 It’s pretty chilly here! But it does make for a beautiful view across the orchard to snow-capped Kunanyi (Mt Wellington).
19.01.2022 YUM! Maple and Walnut French Toast That's our order for breakfast in bed on Mother's Day As well as a crunchy topping, walnuts are a source of folate - an important nutrient for mums-to-be Get the recipe here: https://bit.ly/2W7aH74 courtesy of donna hay
17.01.2022 Maggie explains why fresh walnuts make all the difference
15.01.2022 Walnuts aren't just delicious, they are packed with healthy goodness, too.
13.01.2022 By popular demand...
13.01.2022 Now you can drink Coaldale Walnuts, too! A while ago we posted some pics of our walnuts steeping away in grappa at Stefano Lubiana Wines & Vineyard Larder. Well ... the nocino is ready and it's delicious.
13.01.2022 We’re sad to say we won’t be able to have our annual farm open day this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our harvest is going ahead as normal and we expect to have fresh walnuts available in our online store and at our usual stockists at the end of April. We know lots of people will miss their annual walnut collecting fun and we can’t wait to see you all again next year.
12.01.2022 We'd love to report how well harvest is going and to show you some lovely pictures. But... so far we have been plagued by machinery breakdowns and wet weather, so we haven't had time to take any photos. Instead we'll show you a shot of the orchard looking picture perfect right before the harvest mishaps began! Despite the challenges we'll still get our crop of top-quality nuts in ... eventually.
10.01.2022 We visited Stefano Lubiana Wines & Osteria today and Monique showed us the huge terracotta vat which has been brewing with their grappa and our walnuts for the past year to produce Australia’s finest nocino (Italian green walnut liqueur). We’ve tried quite a few nocinos in our travels and this one is the winner for us. Can’t wait for it to be released later this year. Had an amazing lunch in their osteria too!
08.01.2022 It’s been another wet week on the farm. This rivulet is usually a trickle!
07.01.2022 Well this is a different take on an oaty walnut brekky... definitely worth a try.
05.01.2022 Are you getting your handful a day? Most Aussies don't. A new UOW: University of Wollongong, Australia study found just 2% of us eat the recommended 30g handf...ul of nuts a day The rest of us are missing out on their long list of health benefits from helping your waistline, to helping your memory skills, to looking after your ticker For more on the study: http://bit.ly/UoWNutsStudy
04.01.2022 UPDATE: We are now fully booked. Thanks everyone for such an amazing response! Within the Tasmanian COVID-19 rules, we are now offering pick-your-own walnuts from the orchard floor at our farm by appointment. This is only available for a short time - this Wednesday 6 May to Sunday 10 May. Email us on [email protected] to book your 1-hr time-slot (10am-3pm). Cost is $5/kg. We know many people were disappointed we couldn't hold the farm open day this year, so hopefully this option will suit some instead
04.01.2022 Today was a magnificent sunny winter’s day, ideal for pruning and chipping in the orchard as part of our winter cleanup program. All the wood chips go straight back onto the trees as mulch.
04.01.2022 It’s a bit wet on the farm! Lovely to see our dam nice and full (and then some). The pond is now a lake and the river is nearly bursting its banks.
03.01.2022 Fresh nuts taste so much better, so here are the best ways to store them.
03.01.2022 The world might be a bit crazy at the moment but our walnut crop is growing nicely as we approach harvest. With a few extra precautions in place, our harvest should go ahead as usual.
02.01.2022 This morning we hosted the team from Eumarrah Hobart Natural & Organic Food at the Coaldale farm. We gave them the full tour of the orchard, and showed them how we harvest and process our nuts. Now they know what goes into producing the nuts and preparing them before they get to the store! You can buy our walnut kernel in bulk from Eumarrah’s Hobart and Launceston stores.
