24.01.2022 Getting pups attention and keeping it. Teach look at me and touch. Look at me. With no distractions in home, ... Hold a treat in both hands, say name and look at me, ( your best Kath and Kim impression) wave right hand in front of dogs nose and allow dog to turn head to look at you, make sure right hand treat is in front of your nose so eye to eye contact. Hold for a second or two then give her the treat from left hand. Repeat and hold attention for longer each time. Touch is where the pup touches nose to hand or whatever you have in hand. So have treats in both or one hand, move right hand to side of pup head and say touch, if nose touches hand reward. Then repeat but this time make pup look at both hands in turn, so head is turning from side to side. Once pup has mastered this then move hands further away from head so pup has to move to touch. These will be her attention getter and attention keeper. Touch then can be used to teach further tricks and useful helping actions, such as closing doors and switching lights on.

19.01.2022 If you've turned a radio on or opened the paper this morning you've probably already caught Mr Palmer's ads. I want to take a moment here to clear up the facts ...about what the laws we have just passed mean. I'll be extremely clear: These laws are not about stopping him from proceeding with a project. The iron ore at Balmoral South is still there. Mr Palmer still has his right to make a proposal to dig it up, or to sell that right to someone else. The laws we passed last night do not change that. The laws also don't stop Mr Palmer from collecting, as he has said publicly, over a million dollars per day in royalties from other projects in WA. They are about protecting WA from him potentially claiming around $30 billion from us - because he CHOSE not to proceed with the project because of the conditions he was required to operate under. All mining projects in Western Australia have conditions that they are required to operate under - and those conditions are fundamental to the operation of our mining industry. The only difference here is that Mr Palmer decided that adhering to those conditions was too hard and that he wouldn't proceed with the project. So instead of choosing to make his profits by establishing a potentially job-creating project at Balmoral South - as is his right - he decided to just make his profits by taking $12,000 from every man, woman and child in Western Australia. No one has ever attempted to do this before. It would be unthinkable to allow a precedent that anyone could bankrupt a State just because they werent happy with conditions set by the State Government. Allowing Mr Palmer's claim to proceed was too dangerous for our State. It would destroy our State's finances. So we put a stop to it. My conscience is clear, I know we have done the right thing.

01.01.2022 Important Coronavirus and Pets Information. Dogs and cats have their own coronavirus infections. Canine coronavirus causes mild gastro-intestinal symptoms and ...Feline coronavirus, in some cats, can cause a more serious systemic illness (FIP). Both of these viruses have been around for decades and are a completely different genotype to the human coronavirus and are NOT contagious to humans. The human COVID-19 coronavirus infection is transmitted from humans to humans and there has been no recorded incidences world wide of any human catching the coronavirus from their pets. Earlier this month there was one case in Hong Kong of a dog testing a weak positive to the human coronavirus following close contact with its owners who were sick with COVID-19. This dog has not shown any symptoms and is being closely monitored. At this stage there is no evidence that dogs play a role in the spread of the human coronavirus or that they become sick. The world health authorities and the AVA will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. What they are advising is if anyone contracts the human coronavirus over the following months they should avoid close contact with their pets while they have the disease. There is a vaccination for the canine coronavirus but because it is completely different to the human coronavirus it will not protect your dog against any potential COVID-19 infection. REMEMBER: Humans can NOT catch the dog or cat coronavirus. There is no evidence at this stage that dogs or cats play any role in the spread of the human coronavirus.
